So getting back to the subject of the post, if you don't mind that is
What should be the guidelines or parameters for what is "official"
LEGO here on BL?

The simplest rule would be items from official sets. Then other items as custom
items on a case by case basis as BL sees fit, which is pretty much what it is
now.

Not that that would necessarily stop stolen, nightshift or similar items. If
illegitimate copies of (expensive) production parts are made, who is to know
of the origin? The only reason some parts stand out is that they are not known
in sets. Only allowing items that have appeared in sets could just shift what
is made by bootleggers. Although a lot of that bootleg jellybean type minifigure
trade still exists on ebay and facebok for the "rare", "prototype"
parts or whatever other description they want to use.

Good points.

I offer my somewhat personal anecdotal input, in part to balance the incessant
"stolen, nightshift" as you put it, scenarios all too readily expressed
by mostly the under-informed here. To those reading, understand or don't.

The part has been retired for 30 years. This is 99.9% sure just a test part that
escaped the factory.

Especially in the 1990s, there were many legal ways such parts found their way
out of the factory. Leftover parts were, for example, sold in model shops and
employee shops. Employee children got to play with prototype sets to evaluate
them, and were allowed to keep them. Those were different times.

  I'd say:

* anything sold at LEGO on line, past or present,

* OR sold in LEGO PAB or such LEGO shops (and which aren't a local production,
apart if it's LEGO advertised)*,

* OR sold by authorized LEGO distributors or resellers (toys shop, supermarkets...)

Forgotten:

* OR (especially for older sets) appearing in an official LEGO Catalog for sale
either for distance sale or through their or authorized shops

AND in all case which hasn't been officially retired for safety or image
(see this famous plane...)

I'm sure someone can get a possible better or more optimized / better translated
definition.

Into the catalogue? Definitely not. There are many parts made by machines owned
by LEGO and sold by LEGO that should not be in the catalogue. For example, LEGO
Discovery Centres used to have engraving machines where they would engrave your
name or a word on a brick. They might still do it, it's been a long time
since I went. They own the machine, they sell the part. There would be unlimited
catalogue entries if they were allowed. Same with the new torso printing machines.

As to whether they should be allowed to be sold as customs, that is another issue.
However, if something was made on a LEGO owned machine, how can you tell? If
those are allowed as customs, they'd have to allow parts engraved or printed
on other machines, as they wouldn't be able to tell them apart. And then
they could end up allowing the sale of IPs they don't have the license for.
As for undecorated but custom parts, is there really a difference? If they are
custom ordered, made on demand, then there is little difference.

Now to the point: What does actually qualify as "officially" LEGO
and therefore allowed to be sold here?
Maybe more definitive guidelines would
be useful to all of within the secondary marketplace?

Profound as usual

for me its about 0.5%-2.0% of orders I get messages regarding missing items (and
once for a helmet that broke in shipping). I wouldn't say I'm "irritated"
by them I usually just think back and wonder "how did i miss that?"

Than what about these known stores that list old "Q-parts" from the 90s

these were obtained in a legal way? Should that be allowed.

It’s interesting that the parts are all new after 20ish years

It was a lot of stuff, Stuart. Litereally like sweeping the floors of the backroom
of the park display area where we were not suppose to have been, she told us
while inviting us to be

Colors for parts not otherwise found, mold variances, even injection mishaps
as plastic blobs, which she liked as they had peculiar and fun shapes and forms.
Many other unique things too, as I recall. Just bad timing though, and had I

As to pics: like I said, it was before our involvement with LEGO. Even so, it's
not been until recently that I became aware of the value of such, so...

But it shows the LEGO brand, has been produced by a LEGO PAB showing its name,
so I'd say yes?

When Guidelines are in the picture i cannot help myself:

The term written as "parlay" on the Pirata Codex was known as a right
in the Code of the Pirate Brethren, set down by Morgan and Bartholomew, that
allowed any person to invoke temporary protection and brought before the captain
to "negotiate" without being attacked until the parley is complete.

Following that , i argue it should be allowed atleast untill it is clear that
it either is or isnt allowed.

A quantum mechanical approach, approved by pirates.

I say pizza time🍕🍕

I wouldn't relist that part without permission, and I doubt you'll get
permission to sell a part like that on a site owned by TLG.

You should easily be able to sell it elsewhere though.

Which parts have been on a PAB wall that have not been released? The BAM minifig
parts get catalogued and I cannot remember any examples of parts from PAB walls
that have never been released. Even if there were other legitimate routes for
other unreleased parts, it doesn’t mean all unreleased parts should be allowed
here.

I believe a lot of Warm Yellowish Orange parts were recently released at the
Florida LEGOLAND PAB? They definitely were never released in anything else, and
they were most likely old product from the model shop that had been sitting around
for almost 20 years. There have been lots of legitimate ways over the course
of LEGO history to obtain many rare and unique items.

Yes from individual LEGOLAND centres (I also mentioned them earlier) but not
from regular PAB walls.

I bought the part from bricklink my self in 2014.

Which parts have been on a PAB wall that have not been released? The BAM minifig
parts get catalogued and I cannot remember any examples of parts from PAB walls
that have never been released. Even if there were other legitimate routes for
other unreleased parts, it doesn’t mean all unreleased parts should be allowed
here.

Part No: 18836pb03 Name: Minifigure, Shield Triangular Long with Gold Lions and Crossed Keys on Blue and Red Quarters Background Pattern (BAM)
*
18836pb03 Minifigure, Shield Triangular Long with Gold Lions and Crossed Keys on Blue and Red Quarters Background Pattern (BAM)
Parts: Minifigure, Shield

Parts like that are officially released, same with all the BAM exclusive parts.
They are not in retail sets, but they are widely available and catalogued here
as existing. Hence there is no issue with them being listed compared to the illegitimate
parts.

This would be easy with two orders:

31 US stores have all four torsos
8 US stores have both the soccer ball and net

I know, but I would prefer to buy them all from one place if possible.

It seems like it’s not possible

I guess not. Thanks anyway!

When you click on the colored cells in the color guide (https://www.bricklink.com/catalogColors.asp)
you get a link to for instance (for Pearl Very Light Gray): https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?colorID=119

But what is this even meant to show? If it was linking to say, https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=P&colorPart=119
- that would make sense (but also be redundant, because the Parts column already
links there).

As far as I can tell, it seems to match "On Wanted List", which is entirely
non-sensical? (For instance, Pearl White links to https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?G=853508#T=C&C=0
which makes no sense beside that it is for some reason on Wanted Lists).

Should these even have a link at all?

It is just a list of all items in the catalog that have their default image set
to that corresponding color. The default image is the one that is displayed when
you first get to an item's catalog page. That's all.

BTW, thanks for catching that Pearl White error. It should have been "N/A".

Don't worry about it too much. We got several of them and don't bother
contacting the buyer. As you already know, it won't affect sales.

Seems, as I've argued over the years, a misunderstanding of the BL "neutral"

It looks more like a mistake when leaving feedback than a misunderstanding to
me. If they misunderstood what they were doing then why leave lots of positives
with similar comments previously?

Possibly. There are a few fallibilities commonly seen with the use of the neutral
feedback here, all argue for it's "neutral" impact as I see it.

You have to fulfill the wanted list yourself (aka place orders by going into
your wanted list, clicking "buy all" and having the system select stores/create
carts for you)

Then you place the orders and apply them to the wanted list once they arrive
and you've verified you bought everything; if you want to verify you've
purchased everything without actually having it in your hands, copy the wanted
list and apply the orders to it to make sure you've hit 100% of the parts
needed

I think the point is that even if you bought the part here a decade ago, who
is to say that that seller's source was legitimate?

The part has been retired for 30 years. This is 99.9% sure just a test part that
escaped the factory.

The part I listed was" Minifigure, Shield Circular Ridged Face with Stud"
Item No: 3876 in Trans neon green.
It is not from PAB. That was just an example to show that there are also legit
ways to get unreleased lego parts.
I bought the part from bricklink my self in 2014.

Oh well, it won’t affect sales as buyers can see the customer was happy with
items.

Seems, as I've argued over the years, a misunderstanding of the BL "neutral"

They have left positive for others. Hopefully they realise they have made an
error based on the comments and change the feedback.

It depends on the parts. If the parts you want are no longer in production and
hard to find now, then probably never.

This would be easy with two orders:

31 US stores have all four torsos
8 US stores have both the soccer ball and net

Why only US, if there's not all of them in US?
Make a Wanted-List?

I suppose it would be fine if it was in a different country so long as shipping
wasn't too expensive. Also, I did make a wanted list but no one had all of
it listed so I thought I'd ask if anyone had it all and just hadn't listed
it yet.

Thank you,

Whether the advise worked for you or not, a reply is the considerate thing
writ large for the wider community. It's not solely for you (and others like
you) that I personally take the time (when I'm able) to offer the needed
details to be of some help, but for the others that may be seeking similar help
within the forum, moving forward.

Please keep in mind that affirming or refuting the efficacy of publicly proffered
advise, is simply being considerate to the community in which all of us depend.
Not just about common courtesy, in other words.

How we learn best, is together. But to "put our minds together" we first
must be willing to communicate openly and unrestricted

The Bricklink administration removed one of my selling listings. The reason was
that the parts were listed in a non existent color.
The part was actually a genuine lego part, listed in the correct color. Only
was it never released in an official set, so it does not show up in the color
guide in any set. Is it no longer allowed to list such parts? As far as i know
this type of parts could be obtained in a legal way from a pick a brick wall.

Please tell us which part it was that was removed. It could have been a mistake,
but it could have also been an unwritten rule that we have had to enforce because
of the problem of fake parts. Unfortunately we do not have a log of deletions.

I have an idea. If you're going to enforce a rule, then write that rule
into the Bricklink Rules and Policies.
That way people will actually know
what the rules are. Enforcing unwritten rules will just create chaos and resentment.

There is already a rule that sort of covers it...

Items Pending Official Release: Items may not be listed prior to their official
LEGO release date, either as custom lots or under related catalog entries.

These items have not been officially released, so these items are listed before
the official release date. Of course there might be no release date, especially
for night-shift parts, or there might not be a known official release date but
that doesn't mean that date would never happen so they are still listed prior
to an official release.

It would be interesting to know which part it was as the OP states they were
obtainable from a PAB wall, so this suggests it was already in an official store
and so would not be a night-shift type part.

told me as well that some of these hemisphere parts do not have the logo.

If any sellers are able to check any of their hemisphere parts that they know

I got some trans-clear ones that I know 100% are genuine.

You are right, and I am surprised to learn - no LEGO logo and no part ID. There
is mould number tho.

Weird, because LEGO puts this stuff on much thinner parts, such as windows.

How many negative feedbacks are needed before someone is unregistered?

There is no known maximum.
Apart if assorted with NPBs - as we all know.

And how much "how many"? A 1000 orders buyer having had 10 negatives
during his membership or a certain period can be (and probably is) one of the
best buyers!

But a recent buyer with 15 orders and 10 negatives probably isn't

Only BrickLink can make a deep statistical analysis of buyers FB related to the
quantity of problems Administration have to fix, and then determine who 'behaves'
and who doesn't...

And if all this is worth (apart blatant bozos at -20 FB), because, see below...

Over all this guy ordered from over 20 stores and by the time his buying privileges
were revoked, he had wasted the time of 2 dozen stores.

Wasted time?

I've NEVER worked before having received full payment, since 2006.
It was our second decision after the shop name.

So remains taking 1 minute to make an invoice.
It's not really wasted time...

Otherwise what would you do else? Like to post in forum?

There certainly is an issue for sellers that have to go through the process of
making invoices and/or sorting for orders that are never coming through. On the
buyer side though, having your time wasted is an equally frustrating affair.

With some combination of restrictions, mostly the 'minimum average lot price'
it can be very hard to actually complete an order if the store does not have:
1. a reasonable amount of higher priced individual items that you need (animals,
minifigs, sets)
2. Very high quantities of items that you need.

I've had coutless times while making an order, sometimes being 30-60 minutes
in, carefully selecing sometimes over 300 individual parts and only then realizing
I can never complete the order for this store. The parts are too cheap to fulfill
the minimum average lot price and the quantities are way too low to compensate
for this.

This happened to me twice at the same store and I sent the store a very courteous
message inquiring why they had such measures in place and how they expect people
to work around this. It's been over a week and they haven't even read
the message.

As store owners in this discussion, maybe one of you can shine a light on this?

If they buyer did not answer you, you could still reply to his feedback something
like: "reached out to resolve if there was any issue but the buyer didn't
reply"

The issue was "good prices". Anyone that cares enough to look into feedback
scores can see that the buyer that left the neutral feedback was an idiot.

Dear all,

I'm looking for somebody who can design/build crane for one of my customers.
First pure static but a working crane is preferred. More information about the
crane can be found on the website www.tetrahedron.tech

I have a budget for this so it doesn't have to be free.

Who is experienced with these builds and can help me with that?

Greetings,
Martin Vos

  I'd love your feedback.

Why did you receive a neutral feedback?

You are a newbie as a seller and you need to be obsessed with maintaining a perfect
score. This is very important considering you just started selling and your record
is not yet huge, i.e. not many feedbacks.
All my first 1000 feedbacks were positive but I have initially received about
20 neutral or negative feedback. In all those cases, I contact buyers and resolved
the issue.
Did you try to contact this buyer? Do you know why he left you a neutral fb?

If they buyer did not answer you, you could still reply to his feedback something
like: "reached out to resolve if there was any issue but the buyer didn't
reply"

Thanks for stopping by!

Center on the evening of Feb 16th. Then it basically disappears until April 12th.
No one knows where it went, how it got there, what cruise line it detoured through,
nothing. Here's what the time interval looks like on the USPS tracking page
looks:

CHICAGO IL INTERNATIONAL DISTRIBUTION CENTER

Did they travel through the Bermuda triangle? Where did it go? I cannot express
the amount of appreciation I have for an understanding customer who paid so much
for this order, and then patiently waited almost two months for a tracking update
from USPS. TWO MONTHS! It's almost like the postal service is purposefully
trying to kill off international business opportunities. First with huge price
jumps, then with a decreased level of service that borders on apathy.

The postal service told me that after it leaves the US there's not a lot
they can do, 'it's out of our hands'. Why offer tracking at all when
it's of little use? And when I asked them about filing a case for a missing
package, they tell me that it has to be missing at least 60 days before I can
file as a missing package. Insane, absolutely insane. Going to send a Christmas
box of dog poop to Mr DeJoy... through Fedex.

I think it is sent on surface, i.e. in a ship. This is what couriers do when
they cannot send on air.

Thanks both for replying - and although it's annoying that it's not possible,
I'm also glad I wasn't missing an easy step that was available all along!

I use the "Part Out" feature to create a wanted list with every part
in a set, then go through my collection and "find" all the parts until
I have enough to build it.

But the Counterparts (items with stickers or images on them already) never get
included in the list. So I have to go to the Bricklist set Inventory and add
them 1 by 1.

There is a tickbox in "part out" for "Extra parts" but not "Counterparts".
Often these parts have the same Part Number as the inventory but with a suffix
"pb001" or similar.

Is it possible to do what I'm wanting?

No, there is no way to add Counterparts from a part out. There is no system to
link them to the parts in the Regular inventory and therefore no way to ensure
you don't add duplicate items.

BrickLink should add a separate feature for this specific process. But that would
require new programming... it's not likely.

I would bet it can be done with Brickstore? Perhaps an experienced user can weigh
in.

I confirm, you do this and more really easily with BrickStore.

As an alternative (although it's more work), here's how I do it: The
sticker sheet is included in the inventory, so I look at that first, and pick
out all the stickered parts from my stock, deleting the to-be-stickered parts
from the wanted list. If I find everything, I also remove the sticker sheet,
if not, it stays there as a reminder to get the missing things later.
You could also manually add the counterparts from the inventory I guess, but
bricklink is notoriously unreliable with stickered counterparts anyway, so I
prefer the safe way...
Happy sorting!

Based on a de-minimas amount of information that I am aware of ... When it clears
an ISC (Chicago, Miami, whereever) it is typically loaded into a shipping container
(ULD for air, probably TEU for sea cargo) then it is not tracked until the receiving
agency gets it, and finds the time to enter it into their system. Some national
post offices do better and some do not [1]. In any case, the national post office
should have a manifest of what is in a particular shipping container, because
USPS knows that. Somewhere in all of this is inbound customs inspections.

As a complete side issue (but still illustrative) over the last 6 months I've
placed 12-15 orders for electronics components from a large distributor in China.
All but the first couple of small orders went via FedEx International Economy.
Typically, the package would get to some FedEx warehouse in HK, then appear to
just sit there. But in actuallity, it was (sometimes) already in transit. I've
watched them transit thru Anchorage, Seattle, Chicago, and one or two other landing
points. A FedEx rep told me that the inbound customs clearance was happening
in Memphis. Tracking said otherwise. So it's not just USPS. I've seen
these orders take 3 days to move from HK to my receiving box, and I've seen
9 or 10 days. Unless I was willing to pay for the premium level service, it gets
there when it gets there.

Nita Rae

[1] and some countries, in less traveled parts of the globe, don't even attempt
to deliver to your street. You have to go to the post office (with fingers crossed)
and ask if they have seen any packages with your name on them. What we have here,
is worlds better.

I am a buyer. I don't sell. I don't use bricklink very much. Advice

What do their terms say about shipping time.

Yes, but let's say I want to buy 50 of something, and a store I'm shopping
has a lot of 40. I will buy the 40, and then I can change the 50 to 10 in my
Wanted List. However, if another store also has 40, but they're in 20 lots

let's hypothetically say that the parts were even the same price as the other

Additionally, if a store has a large amount of duplicate lots, it really makes
me think that that seller is quite disorganized; disorganized enough that he
could make other errors such as being short on some of the parts in an order.

The assumption is bricklink is the best possible sales interface and inventory
management system. I couldn't imagine amazon running a successful business
using this inventory system. How many inventory locations does Amazon have for
one item. The difference is Amazon has an independent inventory for stock room,
reciept of goods, shipping, order processing.

Okaaay... I wasn't comparing Bricklink to Amazon. I certainly don't
claim that Bricklink's inventory management system is the best possible,
but it does let sellers eliminate duplicate lots and even warns a seller when
creating a new duplicate lot.

David

I work with other stores buying inventory and I get a commission, off of the
lot/set/parts i purchased. so it would look like "Bin: MA 0034 80%".
If we merge lots it could dilute the cost that i paid. keeping it all within
bricklink minimizes errors and simplifies the process without additional fields
it makes this along with other processes more difficult.

unique part." I've found stores with great deals, but if I want 50 blue
2X6 plates, and they're spread out over 20 lots, I'm not shopping that
store.

Doesn’t that filter (pic) work for those stores?

Yes, but let's say I want to buy 50 of something, and a store I'm shopping
has a lot of 40. I will buy the 40, and then I can change the 50 to 10 in my
Wanted List. However, if another store also has 40, but they're in 20 lots
of 2 each, I won't buy from that shop. I would get the same amount, and
let's hypothetically say that the parts were even the same price as the other
store, but going through so many duplicate lots is tedious and annoying.

Additionally, if a store has a large amount of duplicate lots, it really makes
me think that that seller is quite disorganized; disorganized enough that he
could make other errors such as being short on some of the parts in an order.

I have already paid. The seller has read my messages, but has not responded.

should i report problem with the order with the link on the order detail form?
should I reverse the charge on paypal?

I am a buyer. I don't sell. I don't use bricklink very much. Advice
would be helpful.

What do their terms say about shipping time.
