I prefer it this way. It's a rare occurrence and changing it would save only
a few entries while making the entire sticker sheet database inconsistent.
I see how it can be a problem when you're looking to buy one, but I wonder
how often this really happens?
|
So are you saying it is preferable for the database but not for buying and selling.
This seems like the better solution?
Would you have 6 entries on your own webshop?
|
Well, buyers seem OK with puzzling around with minifigs buying them either whole
or in parts. That's also a situation where people are searching for two things
in parallel that come down to the same thing and it's much more common.
It would mess up my syncing software, for one thing. And I think generally item
names being adaptable depending on what is released next is not a good situation.
So yeah, if I can choose, I'd have multiple entries, but that's just
my opinion.

do I submit it for an add to the set?
|
This is how I added a stickered assembly a few weeks ago:
First check if there already is an assembly like yours in the catalog by searching
for "assembly slopes".
Results: https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?q=assembly%20slopes
As you can see, there is no assembly consisting of two curved slopes 4x1. So
your assembly is a new one. Now check the first free number for assembled parts
with stickers. Open the "Sticker Over Assembly" category and sort by item number:
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?pg=1&catString=582&itemBrand=1000&catType=P&v=1
The highest number is BA91pb01, so your part number would be BA92pb01.
To be sure this number is not used for a recent entry, check items pending approval:
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?itemPend=Y
No results for "BA92pb01", so you can use this number.
For part name, I would suggest "Stickered Assembly 2 x 4 x 1 with Circled Number
9 Pattern (Sticker) - Set 8159 - 2 Slopes Curved 4 x 1 No Studs"
(I have used the name of similar part BA43pb02 as a template).
If exactly the same assembly (two curved slopes 4x1 in our example) is added
with another sticker later, that assembly will get number BA92pb02 etc. That
means "BAxx" stands for the speficic assembly and "pbxx" stands (as always) for
the sticker or imprint.
By the way, the stickered assemblies have to be renumbered in the near future
to get an extra 0.
Regards,
Jonas

The four I have are the same length but as one has two slots and the others 4,
I guess they are all “long.”
The length is a bit more than a stud: you can’t put a brick in front of the socket
and aligned on studs. (You can put a plate because the slots are high enough
for the tiny “bit more.”)
Oh, if you have
those are shorter, by around 1mm.

I don't know specifically about these but it looks the same as the attached
pic from set 9833
The US/Canada listing on BL shows a different design (although it is the same
spec)
But yours does look like the UK version of 9833 but I assume yours has the US/Canada
pins
Could just be an updated design?

Okay but then it should be a Slope AND a Slope Inverted. And both Double. So
does that make it Quadruple or Double-Double?
We really need a catmin who is used to deep and rigorous classifications.

So it's a door/window/panel/technic/vehicle/slope/arch/brick modified/cylinder..
I think this part just broke the catalog

Brickowl has it as: Parts/Uncategorized

My first thought is technic or window frame
|
Well:
1. Window (or door) frame implies you could put a glass or panel (or door)
inside. That seems very unlikely with the technic holes in the way.
2. It’s been used in System (City) sets for now BUT it sure looks like a Technic
Brick, yet not really.
So Technic could do but not really “Technic Brick” and there are no similar parts
(that I know of) in the other Technic categories, that would mean it should fall
in the general “Technic” category, which is already overpopulated.
I’m not envying the catmins
|
Yep certainly a tough one. It's very clear what it is: A hatch. But how to
catalog it in the existing categories?
I'm voting Door Frame. Alternatively, Vehicle. It may be used in space bases,
but the whole point of hatches is that things are built up from compartments
that have been vehicles at some point.
Hmm, anyone remember the days when we had a "Space" category?
|
Funny this one - Lego put it into their Bricks, Special category where most of
the modified bricks go. It does look a bit technic Panel, though.
|
Really do wish we could edit messages. Forgot to say technic bricks are also
in the Bricks, special Lego category - so technic panel could be the right answer????

Also, it doesn't make much sense to call this part a cylinder:
When its own counterpart that fits into it is a Slope:
How about putting them both in Vehicle, Cylinder, or Aircraft?

In the absence of a proper tag-system, I wanted to include searchable keywords

The existing names are fine if you are already familiar with the part/theme

material beyond names that are likely increasingly-unknown to AFOLs (since Blacktron
is roughly 30 years old!).

| I have been working on a way to do this. There are a few ways to go, one with
macros, another with web scrapers, having an API with the data would be helpful.
The main issue I come against is the server draw. I am pretty convinced this
is one of the reasons we get so many 500 errors. There are those out there pulling
pricing for hundreds or thousands of parts every day. This draws the BL server
down. I read somewhere that bots and spiders are not permitted. Therefore if
found out you could be banned. Currently, I have only scrapers pulling pricing
from retail locations, then I manually go in and pull pricing from BL on items
I feel may be profitable.
It would be nice if BL would simply publish a daily csv file that included all
the pricing of each piece. Then we could just plug that into a spreadsheet or
google doc with vlookup and have a really good simple pricing tool.
Not to get too many people riled up, but I am hopeful that XP will have some
updates that will help us in this regard.

I once made something similar to what you're asking at my old job using macros
and web queries in excel. The macro would loop through each line on excel and
use the itemID to spit out the pricelist sales history on New and Used.
I would use it to find the most valuable versions of figures (example, most valuable
battle droids in picture.
Sadly, I lost this spreadsheet when I left that job.

| There are a couple of ways going about this.
1. With a magnifying glass, you can read the part number. Enter it into the search
function to see what it is.
2. Become familiar with the categories of parts. Plates. tile modified, wedges
etc. Then look around.
Some parts just might be Lego.

ok, thanks both.

‘What a mistaka to maka’ if you know the classics.
The colors are quite different, the arm looks in a different angle and is left
or right with both monkeys.
That means you have to look back to the orders you made in the past.
Good luck!

I'm noy sure if I understand you correctly, but Axle 4 is 4 studs long so
it should be the same as - for example - a 1 x 4 tile.

| On the sticker sheet there are 5 small 'MD' stickers: One (with additional
'Danmarks Internationale Mejeri' to be placed at the back of the vehicle,
two (with additional small 'MD FOODS' print) for the doors (parts 3821pb014
and 3822pb014) and one plain 'MD' sticker for the vehicle's front
(part 3010pb132). So there is only one small plain 'MD' sticker left
for the minifig which can be either placed on the front or back of the torso.
Instructions show both variants - on the front page respectively in picture (13).
The catalog lists:
minifig mdf001 as 'MD Foods - White Torso (Sticker on both sides), Green
Legs, White Cap'
torso assembly 973pb0496c01 as 'White Torso MD Foods Logo Pattern on Both
Sides (Sticker) / White Arms / Yellow Hands'
torso 973pb0496 as 'Torso MD Foods Logo Pattern on Both Sides (Sticker)
/ White Arms / Yellow Hands'
So as there are not enough stickers for both sides and it is not obvious from
the instructions which is the correct placement – front or back of torso? - I
would suggest to just remove the term 'on both sides' in the title of
these inventory parts.

There is a sticker missing from the sticker sheet.
If you look at the attached picture you can see a feint outline where the sticker
has been removed (circled)

| I notice that there are now a number of things like this in the catalogue under
GEAR:
[g=ST1]
[g=superman]
What are these meant to be?
Looking at Castle Byers, some people are usnig the listing to sell the set, some
the stickers, some sets with custom stickers, another the set with custom prints,
etc. No-one is actually selling just the instructions!
Is the intention that these should really just be the instructions given that
they come under a category called "Building Event Instructions"?
If so, why are they not listed like normal instructions? Is it because BL does
not recognise these as sets, and properly listed instructions must have sets
to go in?
I remember trying to add the Superman set long ago, and it was denied. But now
it seems the instructions do exist in BL's view, but the sets do not exist.
The strange thing is, when I got my Superman, they were using laser copy / printed
instruction sheets and you could get the PDF if you wanted it, but they did not
have "genuine" instruction sheets.

and were not on sale, but as a bonus on purchase
