There are precious few fields that can be considered a primary key. Part numbers
can (and do) change, people's login name can (and do) change. There is no
way for us mere mortals to access the actual primary key info for these entities.
If you are considering keeping things like parts history, be prepared to either
set up some links from old part IDs to new part IDs, or update your old data
with new IDs (finding out what the new part ID is when you only have the old
part ID is fun - what is the new part ID of "372"? - most times, the
old ID is kept as an alternative on the site, so you can search for it, but not
from the API). Some parts keep flip-flopping IDs (like 6093/x104, 41669/x346
etc).
Some things that do stay the same are order numbers, color IDs, lot IDs.
Enjoy!
Niek.

| Out of curiousity, I downloaded the codes mapping xml file. I guess element IDs
are only assigned to parts. I did find six minifigs in that download, but the
first one I checked was previously a PART.
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogReqList.asp?itemID=147947
So I guess element IDs may only be useful for the parts type in the catalog.
Other catalog types need some other mechanism to track changes. With no changelog
endpoint or key in the item resource, I guess this will be fun to implement.

One thought I just had was that there is no guarantee that the underlying data
is stable within the various catalog related resources.
An obvious example is assignment of part numbers. Clearly, they may change over
time. When they do, are new element ids assigned or would the element id be a
reliable way to ensure data integrity?
Would it be wise to preserve the old part numbers in some way either with a soft
delete or some other kind of deprecation flag?

I think the same (or “I don’t think the same”? ).
I’d contact the Help Desk and try again a couple times, after 2-3 hours. If

Submit your findings to apisupport@bricklink.com and Russell states, in time,
they will probably, maybe, get fixed.

I don't know why I expect a subsidiary of a multi billion dollar company

Order has 102 lots, deleted all of them from the invoice and the problem was
"Solved".
Tested several more, with deleting the last 10, 20 and 30 lots.
With less or equal than 70 lots the problem was "solved".
So is it a treshold, or could there be something wrong with a lot "description"!?

Thank you for the answer, have you encountered the fact that the order was then
put back in stock twice when the payment was not completed? Sometimes it happens
that I have 2x more items in the warehouse than there should be or if the client
orders up to zero, but the payment fails, the items will be returned to the warehouse
in 2x more quantity. In the last six months, I registered it for about 4 orders,
one of which had more than 200 lots :-/

To me it happened only the other way around, 2 or 3 orders got items subtracted
twice, some items being left as -X in stockrom if clearing the lot.
I do log all changes to my inventory and didn't notice what you describe
as of now.

If you just have your store only use two decimal places, you won't run into
rounding errors. Rounding takes place in different location depending on the
applications. Sometime this is before addition and sometimes after which is
likely to cause problems when multiple systems are involved.

I just tried and can send invoices fine. Try to add a 0.01 as a credit and submit
changes, then again to remove it and try to invoice again.

It doesn't look like a rounding error to me - the sum is taken after
rounding on the order page(s), while the XML gives the sum without rounding.
I think the way the XML does it is not quite right - if you display e.g. additional
charges rounded, then those charges should be applied/summed rounded as well.
|
Now I think it is not rounding error exactly, just the way total is calculated,
the rounding is done good for 23,4048 to 23,40, but that is not what is used
everywhere else, the total in the other places is a sum of the already rounded
values which shows:
13,74 + 0,17 + 9,5 = 23,41...

| Dear all,
The past few days, I'm not able to send an invoice to an UK buyer, after
adding the shipping costs manually!
Clicking on the "Invoice Button" brings me to the "Send Invoice"
page.
Clicking on the "Send Invoice Button" returns the following message;
"The page cannot be displayed because an internal server error has occurred."
I've tried several browsers on Windows and Android systems, but all resulted
in the same error message.
Looks to me, it is the same problem as addressed in Message 1394101 on Feb 16.
So could you please fix it (again)?

Should.

many: no filters.)

Tell them sorry you messaged the wrong person. As you can see I don’t have a
store or anything for sale

| Hi,
I've received an order of 86 gramm, but the shipping methode which is choosen
only has the following weight bands in gramms:
0 - 9.00
9.01 - 33.00
I expected that this shipping option wouldn't be available for the buyer
and an other of my shipping methodes would be choosen.
Is this normal behaviour or an error?
|
I've done some testing. I've used:
2 x 824 Train Base 4 x 7 with Wheels Holder
7 x 737ac02 Plate, Modified 2 x 4 with Train Coupler Open for Magnet with Blue
Magnet Coupling, Train - 6.5mm Cylinder (737a / x547b)
Total weight 47,85 gramm.
By the shipping options the right shipping option is chosen initially, but the
buyer can select the shipping option with a weight band of 9.01 - 33 gramm.

Why does that happen?
|
Because the possiblity to add a colour was added to the spaghetti code and not
everything was tested.
The code for the macro takes the ID and creates links to the item’s pages.
— For the image, the “,150” that specifies “in Medium Nougat” is removed.
— For the link, the “,150” is transformed into “ampersand C=150” (parameter to
the URL).
— For inventories, nothing is done. So the coloured macro leads to the inventory
for part “64452pb01c01,150” which of course doesn’t exist.

It’s when you add a colour to the cow that it’s broken:
