As is evident from many forum posts as well, many fresh buyers don't even
know what a "lot" is supposed to mean, let alone they will understand the concept
of minimum average lot value.

Walk into store to buy bread, get to till, no you MUST buy 1 kilogram of fillet
steak as well so that the average price of the goods you buy is more than what
the bread costs, which is the only thing you need. Leave bread, walk out.
It does not matter how good you explain it, buyers do not understand how you
have an item on the shelf you are not willing to sell for the price you are advertising
it at, or for which you need a degree in mathematics to work out how many you
must put in a cart before you can, well, pay for it at checkout.
I would rather BL take this away altogether. You already have minimum buys to
avoid small orders, you can already set a minimum lot quantity for purchase.
Why give an impression that an item can ship by itself, when you as the seller
is not willing to sell it like that? It confuses buyers when sellers willfully
shows prices for goods they are not willing to sell at.
Rather suggest, if sellers really want to use this, that the quantities the buyer
wants cannot be added to the cart unless the minimum average is met automatically.
That way the cart is managed for the buyer and nobody has to know the why and
the wherefores of why an item cannot be bought for the price it is listed at.

I'm not so sure it will be colorful in RI this year. We, like the west coast,
have been classified as Extreme Drought conditions. So I think it will be an
early leaf drop with lots of browning. It is downright crunchy here - I gave
up on my gardens. We need rain!

I would argue that most Buyers of hard-to-find or unusual items are already visiting
Bricklink regularly. Public ignorance of Bricklink may cause inexperienced sellers
to list on other sites, but Bricklink would immediately become the premier auctioneer.
Once that happens, Buyers will be able to spend less time searching.
And Bricklink might make a few extra dollars.
A quick note on the argument against this suggestion: Auctions required more
administrative time than the (much smaller) site could devote. FleaBay's
fees are much higher than Bricklink's. I would not be surprised if the fees
for auctions needed to be higher. That is also a transaction cost, but Sellers
who felt it was too high could always just list the item the same way that they
do today.
I voted "Yes" when I saw this. Turns out, I was just repeating my actions from
the distant past.

over losing the feature, so putting it to a vote won't prove much, just reiterate
what is already known.

I miss the auctions too ... although I do recall the reason for their being discountinued

True, a major part of the reason he discontinued it was its *lack* of

I think it would be super useful also to know the total value and mycost of all

For now I have to download the inventory in excel/calc filter by remark and make

That's an excellent question. I think it mostly has to do with how the system
is currently set up, as we don't have that option when handling these requests.
But it also might be that some sellers do not like the idea of admin tampering
with their inventory and making choices for them. We have had one person mention
that they don't want to list them as Used, because they are concerned that
a "used sticker sheet" carries some negative overtones they wouldn't want
on display in their store.

The e-mail does not give the full listing details, so it is not always clear
what is wrong with the listed item. Also the reason given is not clear.
I just recieved an e-mail stating that a few stickers I listed are deleted.
Reason given: "Item is incorrectly defined as New/Used or Complete/Incomplete/Sealed"
It concerns a few incomplete sticker sheets. I have more incomplete sheets listed
and they are not deleted or mentioned in the e-mail.
Is it wrong to list incomplete sticker sheets as 'new' (with a picture
of the actual sheet and clearly stated in the comments that it is incomplete)?
The stickers still on the sheet are new (never used).
Just to be save I changed the remaining incomplete sticker sheets to 'used'.
And I will re-list the deleted items as 'used'. Hopefully I can still
fing the pictures of the deleted items.
|
Sticker sheets missing stickers must be listed as Used.
|
Why can't partial sheets be sold as new, but indicating incomplete? After
all, it happens a lot with minifigures, even though parts are missing and there
is no formal incomplete setting.
|
totally agree!!. I just got a sticker sheet removed that is a rare large one
from idea book 250....meaning long ago. It was missing one small sticker. The
rest was mint. This to me is New/Incomplete which is how I listed it. It for
sure is not used. Used brings up images of wrinkled, cut, stickers taken off
and put back on the sheet. Stickers missing one sticker or more is not used.
It is incomplete. Lately stickers coming out of new boxes are wrinkled or have
a sticker stuck to the instruction book. These were still considered new but
incomplete.
This was a bad decision.

You can then browse your bricks & sets in peace (or you can rule the galaxy if

Other options are just to close the shop or put the bricks/sets into your stockroom
It's quite easy to use BL as a personal inventory catalogue

You're not the first, Steve, wanting to see something along these lines implemented.
The general idea is brought to the forum from time to time, the suggestion has
merit.
Who knows if something is ever implemented at some point, perhaps a third type
of account could be created? But until it’s realized (if ever) you could simply
upgrade your current buyer account to seller. I'd venture a guess that there
are a good amount of seller account holders that have never made a sale, and
some that never intend to.

Websites as Rebrickable.com and brickset or the Brickstock program have these

I find it hit when I am doing my mailing as well (after work and kids are in

in the browser, it usually goes to where you were and can then continue. For
instance, when adding inventory and you click th last button and it goes to the
maintenance page, if you go back then click the add to inventory button, it adds
the items.

My suggestion is to please make an effort to encrypt e-mail to recipients wo

Niek.

If a seller were using an order management app, that used the BL APIs, does that
data cross the wire encrypted ?

| As you may know, e-mail is normally not end-to-end encrypted. Traffic between
two servers may be encrypted with TLS, but every server an e-mail passes can
read that e-mail in plain text.
This is a huge privacy concern since BrickLink's order confirmation e-mail
contains my actual real-life address, and that of the seller.
My suggestion is to please make an effort to encrypt e-mail to recipients wo
support it, for example by looking up their public key in a well-known key server
(such as keys.openpgp.org, the default of the enigmail add-on), or just by adding
an option to upload one's public key somewhere in the My Settings page.7

I highly doubt this will get implemented. If you are worried about this info
reaching you in plain text, you can opt to disable messages-to-email and only
use the BL messages. That won't do anything for emails with your info going
to the seller, but then again your proposed change won't help there either
as _very_ few sellers will use OpenPGP or similar.

That is highly variable. If the recipient is using POP3, then I agree that there
is exposure. But using an email client, which makes use of HTTPS, and which is
being transported across an encrypted cellular link, then WPA2, should provide
some protection.

Perhaps a PGP encrypted orders download, as an alternative to email distribution
? The existing email layout has not substantially changed since 2000 (when I
was on 56K modems). There should still be a minimal email notification, but how
much information is present might be a starting point.

How about a knowledgebase topic where responses to common (and oft repeated)

I agree and will do this. I spend a lot of time fishing around for reports of
problems in the Forum, and it's one of the critical functions of the Forum
to be a resource for this information.

I believe that I know what you mean by "technical", but some of my past beliefs
have turned out to be erroneous assumptions. Can you flesh this out?

You can add anything you perceive to be a bug. We'd rather have some extra
reports than miss something we need to correct.

Having Yellow as the variable colour is confusing.

| Hello,
if I search for a set :
-Choose "my inventory" in the drop-down on the top of the bricklink page
-Search for e.g. col07-10 or 6722-1 or another set
-Search result: "No Item(s) Found."
In my inventory overview (https://www.bricklink.com/inventory.asp) I find the
sets.
@bricklink: Please repair the new search overview.
See also the stockroom problem https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1220091.
Kind Regards
Maico
