since the New and Used are obviously in different places in our physical stores.
Yikes, dare I say this BUT, that is how Brickowl does it and it is just much,

Change the sorting below the order details page

I know what you mean OP. From where I sit, there is no option for "condition,
then number". For myself I would love "condition, remarks, number" .

I also notice that my spreadsheet doesn't sort 123 and 123a in the right
order so I have to take an extra step to make that work.

Another reason that this is important is that many online order/shipping management
programs sync with Stripe Relay and not just payments processed through Stripe.
This means that orders paid for with Stripe have to have shipping labels created
manually.

Good suggestion!

With instant checkout coming in the near future, please upgrade the Stripe integration
to perform validation checks between the buyer address and the credit card records.

Also upgrade Stripe so that API is used versus only submitting the user name.

Thank you,

I'll pile on, as well...

We appreciate all of the hard work on the new design, but there is certain functionality
that is lacking, or at least less obvious. I always start with the new design,
but find myself going back to the Classic view every time.

Quick example: in the Classic view, if I added part #61190d to my WL, and wanted
to change it to 61190e (or change from one color to another), I could do that
easily by editing the record itself. In the new version, I don't see a way
other than to add the new item and remove the old. Is it that a big deal? No,
but it's indicative.

Please keep the classic view!

Darren

In Administrative, Admin_Jaclyn writes:
  Hello Everyone,

In June of last year, we introduced a new Wanted List upgrade. This upgrade came
with a newly-designed buying experience which focused on the necessity to compare
and plan out multiple carts at once, as well as make it easier to manage multiple
lists.

Since BrickLink's Wanted List is a core feature for most users, we currently
provide the classic version for members to use as a backup in case there are
glitches with the new version. This is intended to be a temporary solution.

The classic version of the Wanted List feature will become unavailable on
June 5, 2017.
At this point, we have ensured that the new version of the
Wanted List covers all desired functionality (plus more) from the classic version.
If you have any issues with the new version, please let us know as soon as possible.

Thank you for the continued support, bug reports, and helpful feedback as we
continue to roll out important changes.

Sincerely,

Jaclyn

Now that everything minifigure is dual sided, the pictures have effectively halved
in size. Also, the description on the page is large, and picture small (in a
store).

Ebay has gone to bigger pictures (free) which tends to prove they work. Can
we allocate more space to pictures?

Yes, this needs to be implemented. I do have a separate wanted list for every
set as well.

Hi, when using the BUY NOW feature of the wanted list, it shows me the stores
but not:
a) condition of the item (new / used)
b) what the price is in each store

b) is available if you open a WL (just to look at it), and click “More Options”
and then “Items for Sale: Show” and “Apply” (beware the default sort “by store
name”).

(It’s like in the Old/Classic WL’s feature to show stores. “Buy” works like “By
Shop,” where prices and items weren’t shown either.)

Instead I see a "minimum purchase" total.

So you have to go to each store and check, or to the price guide, which doesn't
make a quick buy that quick.

If you “select” a store, a dialog appears with all the items in the store, their
prices and conditions. You can then cancel or actually select the store.

(You can also just click in the store’s line, it will show what items in your
WLs are available in the store, and in what quantities, in the item list on the
left by outlining the pictures.)

You still have to check the price guide yourself though.

There was a feature that gave a “percentage relative to the price guide,” in
red for overpriced items, in green for better priced items. It was removed. It
didn’t work well though.

  Could we change this?

“We?” No. BrickLink? I doubt they would.

Yes please.

This has been mentioned multiple times and should already have been added.
They want us to use the Auto-Finder or Buy Now feature.

I voted yes bc some hips are good for customs but legs too ornate, ie this is
a belt on hips.

Agreed. I'm definitely for having and being able to add to the Unreleased

however, of adding inventories for unreleased sets.

I don't believe anyone wants to pretend they were official sets, but the
Unreleased Sets section of the BrickLink catalog is very useful since many of
them have official LEGO set images:

Set No: 6500 Name: Holiday Village
*
6500-1 Holiday Village

Sets: Town: Classic Town
Unreleased

Having the images in the catalog is one thing, creating inventories and selling
them is something else.

There is already a large list of unreleased sets on bricklink. There is no reason
why more should not be allowed to be added, so that bricklink can remain the
most complete Lego database. (Otherwise, what's the point to even having
the current list???)

And there is no reason why people should not be able to buy and sell these sets

Yes, the catalog adminstrators refuse to add more sets to that category when
I have submitted them multiple times. The submission is immediately deleted.

Also, I am not allowed to sell sets in the unreleased category, even if all of
the parts are available and I can make a used set to sell.

If LEGO decided that the sets are not good enough to sell, why should we pretend
they were official sets? Maybe the only place where they belong is in the MOC
shop.

Or am I missing something here?

Are you sure? 4 are used per wing = 8 total.

Pg. 17: four are used for one wing. Then on pg. 35 it shows that you repeat
all the steps from pgs. 16-35 to build the second wing.

Please combine the catalog categories on one category:

Bionicle
Hero Factory
Large Figure Part
(and even a few bionicles parts that are for some reason stuck in the technic
category when they are used for nothing other than bionicles).

Then, sub-divide that category into several smaller categories such as:
Head, Mask, Torso, Limb, Foot, etc.

There is no reason to have these three categories. Large amounts of a part found
in one category is used by another. For example, some Hero Factory parts are
used in more bionicle figures than Hero Factory. And wading through any of those
three categories even in their current state in order to find something is almost
ridiculous.

Please Please Please leave up the old version! I use it all the time and the
new version is nowhere near as useful. It doesn't even work at all! I have
tried to figure out why but I have no idea and I can't imagine other people
who are new to the site would be having an easier time using it either.

I have a suggestion. BrickLink should have all of the users vote on what they
think should be done. It's just my opinion, but I think you guys would be
surprised to see how many people really don't like the new version and want
to stick with the classic version.

The only method to prove what the terms were is to make a screenshot of the splash

prove that the screenshot was the terms/shipping policy when the purchase was
made.

Please start keeping a history of the splash page. For sellers that externally
host their splash page maybe and automatic daily screenshot can be captured and
retained as the terms/shipping policy for the day.

Or simply don’t take the splash page as proof of anything and state that only
what’s on the terms page counts.

Some sellers have the terms and shipping policies completely blank. So there
is nothing to rely upon.

If you want I can PM you an example. I don't want to publicly announce the
seller.

You should inform those sellers that they should state fees etc on their Terms
page.

All additional fees other than shipping and insurance must be stated here.
Please keep your terms clear and to the point. Your terms are also displayed
to a buyer on checkout prior to placing an order.

Yes this seems like a poor way to deal with shipping/terms when there is no history
retained. Seems to me that none of their terms should be enforceable with the
way they have configured their store.

Sorry, when I say “don’t take… as proof,” I’m thinking “BL admins ought not to
take… as proof.”

If there’s a problem, only the terms page should serve as proof. If the seller
has only given their policies in their splash page, tough luck, the buyer is
right.

So glad you haven't dropped the good, old Classic Wanted List. So much better
than the new one! Hope you've changed your minds. Please keep it!

Sincerely,

Because the new pop up login screen pops up in the middle of the screen is it
disappears under the also popping up keyboard on my mobile phone.

Please consider moving it to the upper right, where it was before.

Thank you.

However, there does not seem to be an equivalent for the previous "go to My BL"

Otherwise, great news on attempting to address scammers!

Please, please, please fix this! Having a default sort order of "newest" makes
it really hard to find a wanted list when I have 20+ lists. I can change it to
"alphabetical", but the next time I go back to the wanted lists page it reverted
back to "newest".

Also, once I've set the sort order, having that flow through to everywhere
that wanted lists are displayed in a list would be super awesome!

Most of these fears stem from guessing and assuming the worst. On the other site

if you don't want to do it, you can simply not offer it.

Instant check out requires the BL can calculate shipping cost for all different
shipping methods, in all countries, which is very very very difficult. On top
of that, it requires that weight and dimensions for all parts be accurate, which
they currently are not.

Instant checkout is a sweet daydream. But "We are working on it"

I prefer items in order accuracy over instant payment at checkout.
NPBs aren't that such a big issue for my store.

I am not a fan of the new wanted list. To much effort for such a simple task
of adding a part. I love the classic version and will continue to use it as long
it is available. Don't see why we can't have both or why the new one
exists in the first place. If it ain't broke don't break it.

The wanted list search page here https://www.bricklink.com/v2/wanted/search.page
does not provide an option to use the "on hand" values in that search.

Scenarios:
Show me all items on all wanted lists where I have a value in the on hand field
Show me all the items of a particular nature where I have a value in the on hand
field
Show me all items where I do not have a value on hand
Show me all items where the value on hand is equal to the qty wanted

The wanted list view at this page https://www.bricklink.com/v2/wanted/list.page?utm_content=subnav
does not remember my search settings and keeps reverting back.

Scenario:
Change the search to by "Completion" and "Down" sort order.
Open a wanted list to review
Hit browser back arrow to return to the page
Reverts to default search settings

Can you please add the ability to save your default search criteria?

Additionally, a filter to only show those with items on hand / not on hand /
not completed / partially completed would be useful

Consider allowing a user preference to exclude the On-Hand quantity of an item
when searching a store for items on the wanted list.
Scenario:
I have multiple wanted lists with a total of 6 of 1x6 white plates on them
I have previously marked two of these plates on one wanted list as "have"
Search a store and locate that item in the store
Bricklink on that item line tells me I have a total of 6 on my wanted list with
2 "on hand"
When I click the Auto-fill min option bricklink places a quantity of 6 as the
minimum on the item.
I would like the option to exclude the on-hand quantity thus placing a quantity
of 4 on the item line.
Logic is that I have 2 on hand, so why would I want 6 more (only need 4 more)

Hi Jaclyn,

You state that you have ensured that the new version has all of the desired functionality
of the old version. This is untrue. I want to see the prices listed when I look
at my wanted lists.

But you can:

Open a WL | More Options (between the search box and the percentage) | Items
for Sale Options | Show
Then Apply.
Beware of the default sort: by store name.

Thank you for your help with this again. It is a UI issue... I went to More Options
but then my eyes were immediately drawn to the "Sort By" which is by the list
of items as opposed to adjusting the list using the drop down "Sort stores by"
so after a couple of attemps I got it to look like something I can use. It has
also kept my settings so that's a good thing.

(I’m starting to get tired.
Admin, that this has to be explained again and again and again should be a big
clue that, besides the fact that no-one ever reads the explanations, there’s
a UI problem with those settings.)

Furthermore I noticed that now if you try to use the buy
wizard and you select the store that has the most items from your wanted list
that the green and red arrows are now gone so the newer buyers not knowing how
to research if they are getting screwed on pricing will put in their orders not
realizing this.

Feature removed. Lots of complaints here. Some (sellers mainly) say hurrah. Will
remain removed.

(I suspect it was also totally bugged.)

Buy wizard still does not save your search settings and I have
to adjust them every time so that only U.S. sellers pop up (no offense to our
friends overseas and abroad) which is HIGHLY ANNOYING.

So true.

Lastly the most underhanded and unethical adjustment to come along to the new
version of the wanted list is something called "Easy Buy" which should more appropriately
be called "Sucker Buy". Not only does it not show the prices of the parts you
are buying but it also brings up stores on my least favored list! I have some
stores on that list that charge outrageous prices for their elements.

Related to the settings thing?

This reaffirms my belief that changes companies make are almost always greed
based yet they veil these changes under the premise that it's "better for
the customer"

Seems to me BL’s changes are mainly untested and bug-ridden.

On a positive note it is WAY easier to add items to wanted lists now.

Please keep the classic wanted list with all of his features!
Since the new wanted list came out i looked into it and it tourned out impractical..
So i worked with classic version because its better for me and i think also for
others

I dont understand why the classic variant must be removed! Bricklink worked since
the new wanted list came out with classic version parallel without any problem
for me

So please keep the classic wanted list. Buying bricks without classic version
will cost a lot more time and will be frustrating

I would say just get rid of the feedback system and just track the number of
completed transactions. Allow users to leave public comments about the buyer

It's already possible to leave feedback without a comment.

I can’t use the new wanted list; it’s too complicated and some features, like
buy wizard, just don’t work and cause my browser to hang. And I can’t find many
features like finding a list of stores that have a certain item on my wanted
list sorted by price of this item in each store. The “wizard” forces me to sort
by unimportant criteria like store min buy when it should allow me to sort by
price which is more important when making a buy decision.

I don’t know why you “have to” remove the classic wanted list, but we’re familiar
with it and we use it to easily buy stuff from Bricklink. You shouldn’t remove
a feature that works and force one that doesn’t work on us, this will cause some
of us who can’t use the new “wizard” to leave only because we can’t use it or
it’s still full of bugs and don’t work on some browsers.

Please keep the classic features because we know them and they work just fine.
Please don’t make Bricklink difficult for us to use; new is not always better.

My store would show up in the old version.

Yes it does.
Open a WL, click “More Options.” Click “Show” on the right under “Items for Sale.”
Don’t forget to change the sorting key below (stupidly defaults to Store Names).
And click “Apply.”

Unfortunately I am sure you would be the first to complain if your parts were
damaged or lost when shipped in a padded envelope when a box would be more suitable.

You need to allow a reasonable amount for packing and remember that the packing
weight will not rise exponentially with weight of order, for example 42g for
a box for 25g parts does not mean that the box would need to weight 168g for
100g of parts. Small orders can be just as expensive to pack as larger orders
(within reason).

To ensure that you are not exposed to costs that "you" think are unreasonable
I suggest you use the "Quote" function at check-out to get an exact figure before
committing - unfortunately not all shops offer the Quote facility, but you might
be better sticking to those that do if you are unhappy with shipping costs on
your orders to-date.

I have observed that a buyer cannot tell if a seller has been reasonable in calculating
the shipping costs for an order until they have received the bricks, at which
point it is too late to question it as the order is paid.

In at least two cases I've had a seller overcharge for shipping and fees
by using packaging which is unreasonably heavier than the bricks being shipped.
The only option available to the buyer in this case is to give negative feedback.

If the catalog included brick weight then the buyer could make an informed choice
before paying and negative feedback could be avoided.

Post office charges for the weight of the complete package not just the weight
of the bricks. The weight calculated needs to include everything that's shipped
the bricks, sleeves, packaging, the box, the label, tape, packing slip. That
all adds up. When you see a weight chart in a stores terms that's for the
complete package. If it was just based on the weight of the bricks BrickLink
wouldn't need to do a Invoice step.

Weight is already in the catalog.

Weight is already shown in your cart (unless seller doesn’t want it to).

I frequently work on a split screen to upload items, compare things etc. If
Bricklink could have the SUBMIT button (i.e. for SEARCH) centered instead of
right justified, this would enable me to not have to scroll.

Suggestion from Matt of White Horse Bricks, in response to my query below:
It would be great if they could be listed against each other as 'alternate
part numbers' in the same way as some parts do.

It would need to be in a way that the search engine and wanted lists point to
both so that people searching in sets get the part listing and vice versa.

Original Question from OOO_Shiny:
I have several new, sealed power functions pieces. They have a set number, and
then a different part number, but it is the same single item.

Examples

Set No: 8886 Name: Power Functions Extension Wire (20cm)
*
8886-1 (Inv) Power Functions Extension Wire (20cm)
1 Part, 2008
Sets: Power Functions
contains only

Part No: 60656 Name: Electric, Power Functions Extension with one Light Bluish Gray End (length 20cm)
*
60656 Electric, Power Functions Extension with one Light Bluish Gray End (length 20cm)
Parts: Electric, Wire & Connector

I addressed it to Admin. Your name is not Admin so there's really no confusion.

Answering and quoting someone else’s message is confusing about
who you’re talking to.

Sorry you feel yelled at. It was a message not directed at you. Has nothing to
do with you. It's unfortunate someone shouted at you, yes that's unacceptable.
You take that up with them. I don't need to fix anything. Good luck.

I was just explaining, not complaining.

The “It’s unacceptable! You should fix it!” quote (you know, the little
signs around the text?) was what I got on the other forum: they thought I was
a developper making excuses for the bug. It was not directed at you.

I just didn’t want there to be another mistake. ’s all.
Goodday.

Yes hence why it's addressed to Admin and not yourself.

Okay, I was confused by the fact that you answered my message and not its grandfather
/ Admin’s.

I’ve already been shouted at on the Stud.io forum when I tried to help someone
work around some bug (“That answer’s unacceptable! You should fix it!”).

Why not leave it there unitl people stop using it ?

+1 Leave it permanently.

I have no time or wish to learn how to buy using only the new want list. I
definitely do not have the time to tweak my wanted list until it starts behaving
like the classic one.

I only buy using the classic "By Shop".

Does it "hurt you" to keep the classic ?

Thank you.

Hello,

don´t delete the old vision. Why do you "cancel" the classic version? Is it more
work for you?
I would be happy if the old version stays.

Sincerely,

Jaclyn

Hi Admin,
Plus one on the LEAVE THE CLASSIC SEARCH AS AN OPTION please.
I don't know why you think your helping when clearly most are hindered by
something that' may work but is harder and more complicated than the original
which we all want. Agree some things needed fixing, this is not one of them....
Leave it be thanks.

You understand I’m not an admin, right?

I use wanted lists and wondered if the following could be added.

1. The option to add a image to individual want lists.
2. The option to set sort order of want lists and for it to remember the order
3. The facility to group different want lists together

Thanks for taking the time to read.

Ah, I'd mixed up all these pages:

Where is that on “By shop”?

See picture below.

That’s in the Wanted List. The same you can do in the new Wanted List with “more
options / Show items for sales.”
(See pic.)

That confirms what I said: OP talked about missing prices in the Buy page, there’re
no prices in the By Shop page either. You want to show item for sales for a Wanted
List, you can do that either in the new or classic.
No functionality lost.

Indeed.
Viewing prices optionally there prices would be an awesome functionality.

  […]
  How do you do that?
On the “Buy” page, I just click on the item and it becomes “Required” and the
list of stores is updated. How do I do that on “By shop”?

In the Classic you can move/copy a part into a Priority list.

There’re no parts shown on the “By Shop” page. So that means you are talking
about creating a new list. That’s managing your WLs, not changing on the spot
in the Buy page what you selected to search shops for.

And not only is it on the spot in the Buy page, it’s also different, because
a new WL, whatever you call it, is still treated like the other WLs in By Shop:
either you’re looking for it or you’re not. With “Required” lots, you can still
search for multiple WLs at the same time with some elements being mandatory.
(See pic.)

I can select individual items and mix items from several WLs. “By shop” only
allows to select entire WLs, doesn’t it?

No, you can click a part and move/copy or delete it. […]

Still managing WLs, not the selection to search for, like you can do in the Buy
page.

A lot of sites let you click on a tracking number and it takes you right to that
carriers tracking page and shows where your item is. Maybe bricklink could have
sellers "choose a carrier" and then put in the tracking number. Bricklink could
turn that tracking number into a link on the order page. Not sure how all the
fancy stuff works but I didn't see this suggested and it would be really
nice to not have to open a new window all the time.

Although this idea sounds great, in practice is not do-able. There are way too
many shipping companies and too many tracking url's to make this work. Postal
services also frequently change url's, that's another problem to solve.
Speaking for my own country (Netherlands, Potnl), a registered parcel requires
a different url than a not registered parcel, unless it is international. How
does BL know all these details?
BrickOwl tried to do this but it fails.

The way I do it: I enter the tracking number on my carrier's website and
let it search. Then I copy the url which includes buyer's details like postal
code and mail the link to the buyer. It takes one or two minutes to do this and
my buyers are satisfied

Classic By Shop even returns results according the saved settings.

Yes, the “forget the settings every time” is a PITA.

And you can’t add or remove items or Wanted Lists easily on the classic “By Shop”
page.
And you can’t make some items “Required” on the classic “By shop” page.

Actually this is easier possible with the classic version.

How do you do that?

I don’t say the new version is perfect. There’re bugs and UI problems. I have
criticized it and I always advise not to use the AutoFinder.
But if someone wants to criticize it by comparing it to the classic one, at least
compare what’s comparable: the old Wanted List page to the new Wanted List page,
the old By Shop page to the new Buy page.

New Wanted and Buy pages might be designed fancy, the problem with both is that
they don't show any prices.

Wanted does show prices (and the sorting problems even seem to have been fixed).

It would be solved if it would be possible to show/hide prices.
