Hi and welcome
| I'm having some issues and questions. I
was hoping I could get help here! Here are my questions:
1. Do I have to enter every spare LEGO piece into rebrickable in order to keep
track of my parts for bricklink? I'm doing it by hand for each part.
|
There’s a new feature called “My Collection” here on BL… but it’s not really
useful yet: it doesn’t link to your Wanted Lists (WLs) and ‘arithmetics’ (merge,
intersect, difference) with orders, WLs and My Collection are a pain.
Rebrickable is able to fetch¹ and import² your BrickLink orders and WLs.
You may also use BrickStore (application) to manage your inventory.
¹ Fetch: it connects to BL for you and download and import.
² Import: you can download yourself and then upload the files.
| 2. I have uploaded my io file into the wanted section of bricklink a few times
because I was figuring it out. Each time I upload, it seems to increase the
part quantities.
|
When you upload, you can choose the WL you want or create a new WL.
Uploading _adds_ to what was previously there, it doesn’t clear the WL before.
This way, you can upload a WL in bits (for instance, two small models together).
For .io files, the WL defaults to the name of the model. So if you upload the
same file, it will put it in the same WL.
So you can either delete the whole WL (see below), or delete the items in the
WL before uploading.
To delete the items:
— you set the number of items per page to the max,
— you select all the items on the page by clicking the checkbox in the header
of the table
— then you click on the trashbin icon.
— repeat until the WL is totally empty.
| How do I stop it from doing this? I tried to delete the old
wanted list and start over but I couldn't see how to do that.
|
To delete a WL, open the Setup dialog (from the list of your WLs, not from ‘inside’
the WL): there’s a delete button at the bottom left.
Note that you can’t delete or rename the special “Default Wanted List.”
| 3. I was trying to just use the checklist on the rebrickable MOC to buy the parts
on LEGO and use bricklink for the parts I couldn't get. But LEGO capped
me out at a certain number of parts and wouldn't let me keep ordering. Would
it make sense to try to buy what I can from LEGO (for VIP points) and the rest
from bricklink? Or just buy everything from bricklink?
|
Well, I guess BL sellers would say “Buy everything here! And from MY store!”
AFAIK, you can / have to make multiple orders on Pick-a-Brick to bypass the cap.
Some parts may be cheaper on PaB but not all. Managing multiple sources and
checking prices can be complicated and take time.
On BL,
— if you use EasyBuy, it’s easy (duh!) but you don’t have much control on it,
— if you use Auto-select (from the Buy page: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/wanted/buy.page
), you can set filters (location for instance), and fine-tune / select stores,
etc.
So you can choose simple or complicated.
Choosing is always complicated
|
didn't know there were so many others Lego sites i can go sell on & that
my buyers can go buy on.
i guess finding the best fees & ease of access would be something sellers & buyers
would like.
thanks for mentioning them here.
which one is the best for sellers & which one is best for buyers?

I know, it is not ideal.
You could make a wanted list for a single item, and show only that wanted list
in the above overview. You can sort the overview as well, using the dropdown
selector on top.

I'm looking for a way to find stores that offer an invoice with VAT. this
is visible if you go into the store and the banner shows the VAT.
The ones in my favorites are the ones that do offer an invoice with VAT. I have

A wanted list implies that you are looking for parts in your inventory that match
what is on the wanted list. There should be a way to search your store inventory
using your wanted list on BrickLink.
|
There is, go to your store, click on shop, click on wanted list.
|
I don't know why you're trying to upload parts you want into your store
inventory, but I will point out that it is not what the Wanted list is for.
|
Why not? Maybe they are buying for their store.

Yes, kind of.
(1)
Above the results on
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/wanted/buy.page
there is an option "Show first: [] Favorited"
(2)
In your wanted list settings at
https://www.bricklink.com/wantedSettings.asp?viewFrom=P
there is an option "Sort My Most Favorite Stores on Top and My Least Favorite

This has effect on the Classic Wanted List By Shop:

Have you tried least-favoriting the stores you don’t want to buy from?
Maybe it’s special to some of the parts you’re trying to buy. Have you tried
deselecting one of them?
You can easily do that on the Buy page, using the Wanted Items tabs on the left.

The store probably has a modifier on some of their lots. IE: 100 (x100) so you
have to buy all 100 of that lot or 10 (x2), meaning you have to buy them in 2's.
I hope that makes sense?!?

The "Parts collection" is a very new feature and as of yet has not had
many features put in. It is a work in progress.

Maybe depending on their date of production.
This is a photo of some lightsabers 30374/21462.
I do not know when LEGO started making such small part numbers.

| Wanted – 2011 Ninjago spinner parts
The 2011 Ninjago spinner sets used some common parts with alternative part numbers.
I am looking for those parts (in any colour) with those alternative part numbers
moulded into them.
Buying new sets would help me find these parts, but that gets expensive quickly.
I would buy used sets with these parts, but over time most of these parts have
been replaced by their regular versions (probably except the boat stud under
the turntable).
I am looking for:
with part number 94148
with part number 93788, according to the catalog notes this will be
the “solid plastic” version instead of the “more rubbery” version.
with part number 93791
with part number 93792
with part number 93790
with part number 93793
I do not yet know if parts 63965 and 4085d already had design numbers moulded
into them, or if the parts were to small for that at that time.
Part numbers 93787, 93789 and 93794 also fit within this range or part numbers,
but these do have their own catalog entry so they are easier to find
These parts were used in the following sets:
I am looking for sellers who either have the parts with the listed part numbers,
or who can confirm their used sets still contain the mentioned numbers.
|
94148 does not have ejector pin marks. This mold was current around the time
these became present on plates, in fact, it might have actually been 2011. It
could have been 2010, but I did not pay great attention to molding differences
back then.

I just came out of my dark ages then, I was not such a crazy collector back then.
There are also a lot of alternate part numbers in the collectible minifigures.
I have not started listing those yet.

too certain with Lobo, prints without color aren’t too popular as they can be

intentionally removing print is difficult.

Welcome to Bricklink! If you open the page for each of those pieces, you should
see a link that says "Add to my wanted list." You can create a new wanted
list and add each piece to it (making sure to set the quantity you want for each
piece).
Then you can use the "Wanted list by shop" page to see what stores have
the largest number of pieces on your list. https://www.bricklink.com/wantedShop.asp?showOld=Y

Create a wanted list!
Pull up the inventory for and go down the inventory. Find the pieces
you need, click on the part number, and ADD to my wanted list. Make sure you
add in the amount of that piece you need as well. I use the 'add remark'
field.
Once you have all the pieces on your wanted list, you can start looking for stores
that have those parts.
Good luck!

Make sure that your wanted list is checked. On the left side of the store page
there will be a list of your wanted lists. Check the boxes next to each list
to include them in your search at that store.
Also, there are 3 tabs at the top of the page. When you are on the STORE tab,
there are 4 options right below the tab. The 4th option is wanted list. If you
click this option, any item the store has for sale will be shown.
Hope this helps,

Still dont see how selling it with a box increase reputation and respectability.
If you list a used item or new item, with a note: complete, no box, no instructions,
no layman will get confused that there will be a box.

| One more thing to consider with larger set boxes. Shipping is calculated based
on the greater of actual weight or dimensional weight.
DIM weight = (Length * Width * Height) / DIM factor
DIM factor or Dimensional factor is a number determined by each delivery company.
If you ship a set with a larger box, shipping could be more expensive based on
the size of the box. Also, you now need an even larger box and padding to put
the set box in.
In Wanted, Brickitty writes:
| So you don't actually need the box, and from 7+ years of experience selling
used sets here and the auction site (before launching my parts store), including
the box with a set rarely helps it sell for more. Especially for a set that small.
In fact, the majority of buyers won't want the box if it increases the shipping
cost by even $1 -- which it almost always does. It's one thing if you
want to include the box as an option if you already have it, but even then most
buyers will opt for no box. In my opinion, hunting down and purchasing a box
to sell it with a set will only lose you money and time.

I’m OCD about parts being right and 100% complete too… but not sure you can buy
a box with shipping and still be profitable on the set when you sell it. Sure
some want a set with box, but there are lots that will buy it sans box to save
on shipping and set cost. Good luck.

1) Thanks! In today's climate I'm always worried someone is gonna flag
me for being "political."
2) thanks for the advice. Like I said earlier I probably will list without the
box, I just try to go that extra mile when possible. It's not so much increasing
the sale as it is increasing reputation and respectability.

I dont understand point 2. How does selling it with a box increase reputation
and respectability? If you sell it with the correct condition then you are just
being as honest. Having a box doesnt change that imo. For me personally the condition
of an item doesnt increase or decrease the reputation and respectability of a
seller. The actual sales process and customer service does though.

Oh sure, I get that desire. I'm a detail-oriented perfectionist, so I did
that too -- along with spending hours of extra time picking period-accurate
parts based on glossiness, stud design, and hollow vs. solid underside tubes.
Things like that. But after a little while, I saw that those efforts were wasted;
buyers never noticed or cared. So I honestly doubt that going the extra mile
with boxes will do anything for your reputation or respectability.
What will affect those, however, is whether or not you send out complete, correct,
undamaged sets. The majority of sellers here and on the auction site constantly
send out sets with missing parts, damaged parts, or incorrect mold variations,
even if it's just one or two. Probably 90% of the sets I've ever bought
have had something wrong with them... but 99% of the ones I sold had every single
correct part, clean and undamaged. I triple-checked the inventory to ensure it.
Spending that extra time is worth it for your reputation, whereas spending that
time on boxes won't affect it.

Second, if you haven't seen the Items For Sale Condition page, it specifies
that used sets do not need to contain the box or extra parts to be listed
as Complete: https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=102
So you don't actually need the box, and from 7+ years of experience selling
used sets here and the auction site (before launching my parts store), including
the box with a set rarely helps it sell for more. Especially for a set that small.
In fact, the majority of buyers won't want the box if it increases the shipping
cost by even $1 -- which it almost always does. It's one thing if you
want to include the box as an option if you already have it, but even then most
buyers will opt for no box. In my opinion, hunting down and purchasing a box
to sell it with a set will only lose you money and time.

I was also wondering if anyone knows how to bulk add every color variation to
a wanted list versus doing it manually. When adding from rebrickable it does
not automatically apply color variations. Maybe there are some complete XML files
including varying part colors out there?
|
It depends on what you mean by “every color variation.”
If you want your Wanted List to match any colour, use the colour “Not Applicable”
(N/A).
Searches will give you all the colours you have for the brick.
But it gets problematic when you want to match orders with Wanted Lists, because
the bricks do have a colour in orders, searching your order in an N/A WL gives
no results (N/A matches any colour but a given colour does not match N/A).
If you want to add each part in all the colours, well that gets complicated and
that makes for a very big WL (even if you only do ‘Known colours’ or active colours
and not absolutely all colours).

| Hi all,
Does anyone know how to upload my entire store inventory to a wanted list? I
currently downloaded my store inventory to XML and I was going to use the bulk
upload to add it all. The problem is I am going to get an error every time there
is a duplicate item in my store. I have 1000's of duplicate items in my store
and would have to correct 1000's of errors. I need a way to remove duplicate
code in the XML. Maybe there is a way through BL or rebrickable to circumnavigate
the issue?
The reason I would like to do this is so that I do not have to cross reference
my own store every time I purchase an item and could see in stock items at a
glance.
I was also wondering if anyone knows how to bulk add every color variation to
a wanted list versus doing it manually. When adding from rebrickable it does
not automatically apply color variations. Maybe there are some complete XML files
including varying part colors out there?
Any help would be much appreciate. Cheers

Best solution I know of: make a Wanted List, activate notifications, visit it
from time to time to see if some of the parts got an image, and wait… Zzzzz….
