True. Even I get it mixed up sometimes. Is it 12:50 to 1:00? or 1:50 to 2:00?

But at least it is at the same time every day/night.

It starts at xx:45.

And I think it depends on daylight saving time because California changes to
(from) DST 2-3 weeks before (resp. after) EU and so we (EU) have two 2-3 periods
where the maintenance time is different.

  What OP is suggesting is
that the downtime should be randomized so that people outside of the USA are
not always experiencing it during the daytime, which sounds like a good idea
at first until you consider the fact that no one will know when the next downtime
is. Imagine trying to do a part out right as the site goes down, not knowing
that it was about to go down because it goes down at a different time every day.

I don’t think reformy meant ‘totally unpredictable,’ but, anyway, anything other
than ‘always the same’ quickly becomes unpredictable.

Even knowing the time I get surprised….

Do you have an idea what means 9:00 EDT time for an European basic customer?
It's just random.

I'd also prefer a 30 minutes or 1 hour warning just before.

Hello Sharif,

You can't post your email address public on the forum, if you want to contact
BrickLink you can open a ticket here:

https://helpdesk.bricklink.com/Main

But if you have a suggestion it would be better to post it on the Suggestions
forum topic where other buyers can vote for it.

https://www.bricklink.com/messageList.asp?ID=8

Hello again,

My apology. I didn’t know that I can’t add my email address. The ticket is requiring
my log in and every time I try it says tgat it’s wrong or unrecognized even though
I am logged in to my account already.

I sent a message to the help desk but not sure if it was received. I have been
trying to communicate with BrickLink admins since December but no luck

Please advise

Regards,

Sharif

On the helpdesk page you need to register again, it is not the same credentials
as in Bricklink. But use the same email address and your ticket will appear in
your account.

Thank you.
May I ask here too, to move the daily ten minutes downtime to an earlier hour?
We here in Israel are getting it every morning at 9am.
Maybe randomize it a bit so we all share it...

  Dear all,

Today we have launched the ability for registered EU businesses to place business-to-business
(B2B) transactions on the Marketplace. This new feature will remove any VAT charges
for orders shipping to the EU.

In order to make use of this new feature, simply click on the 'Verify your
VAT ID' link under the Order Summary section to enter your valid VAT registration
number during checkout and VAT will be zeroed-out for applicable transactions.

If you are already an EU VAT-enabled business on BrickLink, your VAT ID will
be pre-populated and VAT zeroed-out when checking out, so you will not need to
enter it again.

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you for the info. Maybe you should also change the banner with the reminder
which still says the site will be down for maintenance 05/18 from 0100 AM to
0200 AM.........

That's why we don't care too much about the World Cup ... we already
got one!

Plus we know we'll never get another.

Says right in the announcement:

BrickLink Designer Program will open May 17th at 10:00am Pacific / 7:00pm CET / 6:00pm UTC.

Which would be 1 PM on the US east coast

The very first Bricklink program was such a success compared to the 2nd one.

Have you looked a the piece count for these sets vs the 1st round?

1st round:
Smallest set - 540 pieces
Largest set - 1948 pieces

3rd round:
Smallest set - 1377 pieces
Largest set - 4062 pieces

That's a pretty big difference right there alone to justify a price gap.

I guess it makes sense to have the larger sets all competing against each other?
That way a set wouldn't miss the goal only because of the $ tag. Just a thought...

Jen

I don't think they are really competing against each other as you can buy
more than one of the projects.

I think the price points will make people hesitant to back as many projects as
earlier rounds because if they all get funded that's a lot of cash to dole
out all at once. So where someone may have backed 3 or 4 projects last round
(expecting maybe 2 or 3 to get funded), they may only back 1 or 2 this round.

I'm just guessing it will take more unique buyers to fund 5 projects. There
may be enough demand for that, but I wouldn't be surprised if the 5 aren't
fully funded.

-Pete
