Just acquired 2 older sets that are semi-sealed. By that I mean that due to age,
the clear, roundish lego sealing tape (on the sides) has pulled away from one
side (on both sets).
Because of this, you can actually get into the boxes, but everything inside is
sealed/new.
Also, there is a number printed on the clear lego tape...anyone know what that
number means?
|
It is a manufacturing code. The first two numbers are the week it was made, the
third digit is a plant code, and the last digit is the year it was made. So if
your set was made in the 18th week of 2002 in the plant with code "R",
the code would read 18R2.
| Any opinions on whether the tape drying out is common on older but new sets?
|
Yes, it is extremely common.

Randy

| I'd also like to add that I do NOT fault the seller here!
It was an experiment, I can handle a 10EUR loss
However the seller offered me a refund. I declined. I then got a coupon
Which is like a thumbs up for me to blow more money on LEGO even if the wife
says noooooo
So, I can very much recommend Brickmatey as a great new, fair and reliable seller

So, I've been eyeballing this part :
For some time ...
I build a lot of Classic Space(stations) and since having moved away from baseplates
I use a combination of platelayer + bricklayer + platelayer to create my own
"baseplates" with Technic holes at the ends to make a modular setup
These 16x16 thingies, mostly used in mosaic sets, are pretty close to that so
I've bought some for testing
Since they're invisible (I will put a layer of tan plates on top so the colour
doesn't matter to me), I've bought five new ones in lavender (cheapest
colour)
But they're all very clearly warped!
All five in the same maner
Is this a known problem with this part?
Now, I haven't build anything with them yet so they may straighten out with
some weight on the top?

That was my plan anyway, as just knowing an obnoxious colour sitting deep inside

I'm not sure if these mosaic sets are popular for parting out, but I hope
that part in black drops below a dollar/euro in the future as I would need several
hundreds

For some time ...
I build a lot of Classic Space(stations) and since having moved away from baseplates

I have seen a lot of the black ones, and I have never seen any sign of warping
in any regards. Maybe it is an issue with the lavender ones?

I mean, if you are still interested in lego maybe a store would be willing to
do a trade through Bricklink, but since you do not have a store you could not
sell it here. I would say expect $50-$100 depending on how crushed it is, but
I am a LEGO star wars guy, and don't buy the older stuff so take it with
a grain of salt. I am sure someone with more experience can give you a more accurate
Idea.

As far as value goes there is very little info about it, so it's up to what
a buyer and you agree on. Personally I don't think it would be worth that
much, especially if it is squashed up. Maybe just take highest offer, or most
reasonable, worth at a minimum $50 I would say, just because of age.

Erm. Now that you say it... I guess that's quite a difference. Yes. XD
I mostly use the 32198 for driving actuators. The 87407 doesn't make sense
there.
For some reason, I didn't really realize the obvious functional difference
before writing this post.
I just though "Oh, look, it has an outset on the hub to be more stable on
the axis.
Why then do people still use the inferior 32198?"
Little derp on my side.
Forgive me my confusion and thx for pointing it out.

Would you say, that one should use the 87407 over the 32198 whenever possible?
Or in other words: Unless you have space restrictions, is the 87407 flat out
the better choice?
I'm basically asking, because I'm unsure what gear I should extend my
stock on to build future models with.
I'm trying to reduce alternative items and only get the better (not necessarily
newer) version now.
Because when I re-started my LEGO "carreer", I didn't really know
what I was doing and bought a lot of old parts, where I later learned, that better
and cheaper alternatives exist.

| Since these error parts made it into sets on at least two occasions, I expect
that many were made. The mold was probably used for a few days, with one of the
mold cavities producing error bricks, before the error was detected.
There could be thousands out there, but compared to the amount of 3937 parts
out there it is only a small percentage.

This error was reported to have been found in set 71767, so it could have been
in any set around that time period. I also have seen such error parts years ago,
so that must have been an earlier mould maintenance mistake.
I am looking for these errors!
If you are selling, then I am really interested in buying

| Hello guys, I heard that Bricklink knows Lego well, so I'm asking here.
I saw these minifigures on the internet. Probably Ronin and Cable.
I'm looking for the common hair of the minifigures in the picture. But I
couldn't see this hair.
Do you know the product that contains this hair, or its part number?
(I'm new to Bricklink. Please let me know if my question is wrong.)

Hello, welcome to Bricklink!
The hair and minifigures are custom designs. Instagram: @legocustoms00
*Not sure if they are 3D models only. Please be careful of scams and fake websites!
If you don't mind ponytails, these are decently nice options:

This seems like an edit or custom part so you will not be able to find the common
part for these figures. You could ask the poster of these images how/if they
made this piece by customizing an existing part.

There’s a “Topic Descriptions” link next to the Topic box (just above the Subject

I’m not sure many people filter by topic (except to exclude Sales ) or use
the Topics page as an entry point to the forum, but it’s still nice to try and
use the proper topic

| me and my brother have spent days doing battle with each other. Luke vs Maul
was a classic match-up. He's jealous because I've got minifigures of
both of them and he doesn't have either - until later today possibly

When it’s first released it probably will but give it some time and most likely
it won’t

Does anyone have more information?
Was this set released recently? Or will it soon be?
Where might it be found?

Bump
Februari 1,
March 1,
April 1,
All possible release dates I heard have passed, but I have still not seen any
information other than a mention in "All 2023 sets"-lists.

4121 - it's listed in "Gear", I don't remember how to insert
the macro tag for "Gear" to show it.

Just use 'g', as in [ g=4121-GEAR1 ], but you need to give the complete
ID. It’s only when the extension is “-1” that you can skip it

| This has to be the most boring LEGO set ever, other than you being able to spin
the wheel to release the hot coals and role your Obi-Wan figure in it to torture
him?........ The set itself is just s base plate, and for the price of 30 dollars,
this, compared to the star fighters that you can buy for the same, or similar
price is pretty lame.
And don't get me wrong, the rocky texture does look cool, but the fact that
it costs so much for so little, is pretty awful. You'll notice that a good
portion of the listings here on BL actually are missing the minifigures, because
the seller just wanted them.

The most boring set I've ever come across is this:
4121 - it's listed in "Gear", I don't remember how to insert
the macro tag for "Gear" to show it.
Contains 3 parts!
Cheers ...

Storage boxes aren't really sets though, are they?
|
Why do I get the people who want to argue semantics?
It's useful to scoop up and store bricks, that means it's a functional
LEGO item, that one can buy.
Cheers ...

Because plastic storage tubs are not intended to be interesting. They are not
a set. By their nature they are boring.
