BrickLink should setup a system where a seller would need to have a credit card
to sell on BL, and BL charges the seller a small amount (say $5) to setup the
store, and activate it, and verify the seller's information that is on BL against
the credit card.

The $5 would offset any costs associated with checking names/addresses. Once
BL has a card # and a charge on it, they can verify the name and address to the
card, and they know that they are dealing with a real person, at a real address.
Or, maybe make this an option, and have a store icon that shows that the seller
is verified.

Or, perhaps make this a requirement only if the seller wishes to sell high value
products, or lots of items valued at a high value.

I would gladly do this for my store, to show that I'm legit and serious about
selling.

Resistance is futile.

Would be nice to have the ability to make one or more wanted lists "public" so
that if a link was provided to the list other folks could see the list. This
would work similar to Amazon.com wish list in that others can see but not edit
the list.

In my mind, this would be a check box on the wanted list settings (and creation)
screen. Default would be unchecked (meaning private).

[X] Public List

It would be useful in facilitating purchases for gifts (like little Tommy wants
a bunch of batman minifigs so he adds it to his wish list so grandma can buy
one for him by viewing his list), and for facilitating trading because people
can see what the seller would like as payment for the trade items.

Everything else about the wanted list would work the same as it does now - except
that if viewing by someone other then the owner there would be no editing fields
available.

Based upon the message posted by;

Re: I am falling off the list -- here's why - legoman77

A forum where you cannot be banned. You can speak your mind, argue like an idiot,
mock people, attack people at will, be a jerk, be a jack wagon, or whatever else
you wish.

THIS WOULD BE AN OPT IN ONLY with an adult warning on it!

Think it would be fun.

This forum would NOT be listed on the forum post stats! And it would be a no
man's land for banned and unbanned people alike.

If it gets out of hand NO SUPPORT AT ALL BY MODS/ADMIN/G-D.

Since it would be an opt in ONLY, just do not go there if you do not wish to
be offended!

Great idea.

I would like to see it called THE WILD, WILD FORUM (with a cowboy and Indian
as the icon's for it).

I would like the ability to not "Ignore" but "Shun"

When someone is being a Troll, or even being somewhat unhelpful, and also posting
on the wrong thread...

Shun, not block, just list in red. That way, I know he's being a "Troll light."
Posting relevant comments, but in the wrong thread...

Or, Reconnect would be good... Remove the posts from Brasletty's post, and put
them where they belong...

Or... Posters could bother to rename the thread (lazy BrickLinkers!)

There may be an action for this that is similar and I don't know about it, but
here is my random suggestion anyway.

I operate out of two locations, one location has my personal collection (home),
and my apartment has my store. I commonly visit home and need items from my store
at my apartment. I believe it could be nice to have the ability to shop in your
own store and place an order with your self, that way you have a nice record
of everything you want to take from your own store and it would remove it from
your own store in one action. OF COURSE!! you would not be able to feedback
yourself, and this transaction would not effect the price guide, it would have
to be a separate system. For example, you build your cart in your own store,
and on the check out page select "personal order" so that your "order" is not
technically a Bricklink order. I hope this makes sense. And if something like
this exist, please let me know because I will use it like crazy!

I would like to suggest that you can choose to 'save' a cart on BL, and that
i kept for, eg a week. At the moment it isn't kept after you log off, so if I
want to place an order tomorrow, I either have to do it today or copy & paste
into word, then go to the trouble of finding all the items again. Thoughts?

Based on the discussion of this post:
http://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=599326

A formal suggestion to update to the Help Desk to include:

"BrickLink is fully committed to fair and honest competition among all sellers
who use this site. Compliance with applicable laws is the best means by which
to ensure that such competition is fair and honest. Although it is not BrickLink's
job to police or enforce those laws, for the benefit of the entire BrickLink
community and to put into practice the commitment noted above, we reserve the
right to take action against any members we reasonably believe have violated
any laws to gain an unfair competitive advantage over other members. Such action
may include a warning, temporary suspension of site privileges, or termination
of membership for repeat offenders. We believe a clean honest marketplace best
serves the interests of BrickLink and all its members. If you cannot play fairly
with others, you may be asked to play elsewhere."

In addition, add "Buyer requested customs fraud" as a reason for sellers to cancel
an order AND to remove feedback (but, for feedback removal, only if the request
is made in the Order Comments or via a BrickLink message which can be easily
confirmed by Admin, or if undisputed by the buyer).

I propose that the Forum rules that outlaw discussion of Religion or Politics
should be lifted in times of

"Extreme discourse".

We could have a pre-set background colour change as the discourse becomes more
extreme.

The Green background could turn to Yellow if discussions are ongoing about items
for sale --
Chrome bricks, custom parts etc.

The background would then turn to RED if discussions are ongoing about individuals
and ethics/morality.

When the Yellow background is up - members would be encouraged to post OFF TOPIC
items, jokes, links to cute videos etc.

When the RED background is up - free for all -- anything to change the subject
-- Dirty Jokes, links to "other" videos, Religion and Politics discussion --
EVEN posts to e-bay LINKS selling LEGO instead of just posting all the info necessary
to see it without a simple one click solution !!!!

My solution shown here. Hey new Admins, please consider adding this feature.

My suggestion: stop purging data.
It's the 21st century, mass storage is cheap.
There's no at all reason to purge data ever.

Are suggestions still worth making. I ask as none have been implemented since
September.
Without sounding rude..... the reasons are known to all of us why, but no suggestions
have been implemented since September so is the new Admin going to do them or
is Bricklink now running as good as it is ever going to run with no more implemented
suggestions?

The responses to this got me thinking:
http://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=498526

Would committees be a good thing for BL?

I suggest a committee of 3 people for Listing violations: Have the problem reports
sent to 3 members (maybe even conceal the store/user name) and let them vote.
2 votes and the listing gets removed.

I'm sure we would be able to find members for a committee of 3 or maybe 5 very
quickly and that decisions on listings would be decided very quickly.

Obviously Admin and/or the CO would be able to appoint/remove those committee
members and Admin and maybe the CO would also be able to overrule them.

Ok, I have two different ideas to solve the problems with wanted lists timing
out. Here is solution one, solution two will follow shortly, please just vote
on the one you think might be the best way to address this.

So, when a seller uploads a large number of lots, and then attempts to notify,
the system can time-out due to too many emails being sent. When a seller tries
to send the notifications, a certain number are sent, and then the system stops
them from being sent. If the seller tries again, the same number of notifications
are sent, and then the system stops them at about the same point. This appears
to the buyers that have received multible emails from said seller, that the seller
is trying to spam them, when in fact they are just trying to send out notifications
once. Here is the real problem, this seller can no longer send out correct notifications,
because the original notifications remain in the system as "unsent". If they
add more lots, and try again, it repeats the cycle shown above, sending the same
people notifications.

Please allow sellers to "clear notifications", so that if they have too many
lots to notify, they can start over, and continue to add notifications at a later
date, only for new lots.

Again, please check my other suggestion, and vote on the best idea to solve the
problem.

Thanks so much,

Darren

Please add a "reccommended maximum lot addition" that will fall within the limitations
of the Bricklink system, to the help section on mass uploads. This would require
the help of some sellers, perhaps keeping track of some uploads, and notifications.
the info could be used to come up with a realistic number of lots that most likely
would not time out.

Again, please check my other suggestion, and vote on the best idea to solve the
problem.

Thanks so much,

I have some ideas on how to fix this problem.

Put a limit on the number of transactions allowed for new sellers.

One per day or 3 per week until established as a seller.

That would limit the damage done by a new seller.

I feel for the buyers that are not familiar with feedback system to spot these
styles of fraud.

Hello,

Love the wanted list, but a few things are hit and miss. I think one of the misses
is when browsing a store with a large wanted list, you often get multiple hits
for items (new & used) so I figured why not choose which you want to see when
you get to a store.

Here's what it could look like.

Thank you for voting,
Eric

I do know 'pending items' are pending for a reason: no one offically has them
yet, Lego has not released them for sale or display. However, I'm assuming the
people who add certain 'pending items' to the catalog have inside info that the
general population doesn't have. Please let me know if I am wrong, but items
that are currently pending have a high probably of officially being released?

My suggestion would allow items pending on Bricklink (i.e. soon-to-be-released
sets) to be added to an individual's wanted list now. That way someone could
be notified as soon as someone else on Bricklink is either selling the set or
inventorying it.

Example: I'm very interested in set 8110-1 Unimog U400. When will it officially
come out? Either I have no general idea, or I've missed a thread somewhere giving
these details. Or maybe I suck at Online researching. What better, and more lazy,
idea than to let Bricklink's wanted list notifications send me a message?

Just throwing another suggestion on the table for ya'! Thanks for reading,

- Chris

Color selection when adding an element to the wanted list:

"All colors EXCEPT xx colors"

This may have ben suggested before...if so, please forgive. I'm not sure how
such a thing could be implemented with the current pull-down interface, but MAN,
this feature would save me a lot of time and wanted list clutter.

Thanks for considering

We need publicly visible Wanted lists!
I think that would be better for the trading on here, so that you don't have
to poke around trying to find what someone wants...

My first suggestion. It probably won't be implemented, but it's worth a shot.

Let's say I'm looking for one of these:

Set No: 7595 Name: Army Men on Patrol
*
7595-1 (Inv) Army Men on Patrol
73 Parts, 4 Minifigures, 2010
Sets: Toy Story

I add it to My Wanted List as a "New" conditioned set. I also want it to be
"Complete" or "Sealed". There is no option for this, so when I look for the
set through my wanted list, I see new sets, but not necessarily complete or sealed
sets.

I have to manually check the shops to see if it's not just the "Jeep Only" or
something like that.

Do you think that we could get something that would add a sub-condition to the
filter for wanted lists?

If there is something like this already, please reply with a link and let mods
cancel the thread.

Thanks in advance,

--JDB

I would like to recommend that after placing items in a shopping cart, my wanted
list gets updated to indicate that the item/quantity that has been allocated
for purchase (in x shopping cart at y store for example).

The justification is that I frequently find that not all my wanted list items
are satisfied by one vendor so I end up exerting alot of effort to manage what
I've allocated and what's remaining.

With this feature it could be possible to better determine the full actual cost
of the wanted list collection before committing to a purchase - which would be
the case today. This feature would allow shoppers to maximize the lowest price
or most convenient approach to purchasing parts before making any actual commitment.

There should be an option to get both the "Cheapest Match" and "Close Match"
for your Wanted list.

Cheapest Match Idea: This would compare stores that have all of your wanted
items and meet the minimum quantity needed by total price. It could calculate
the total cost to buy all of those items at the minimum quantity from each store
within the results and compare them in order to provide the cheapest store with
the best overall price. I have seen stores that have all my items charging $600
for the parts and then seeing another store with the same parts charging less
than $150. It would be nice to know which store is the cheapest for my particular
wanted list right off the bat rather than sifting through and filling 100s of
carts with items just to find out manually.

Close Match Idea: For example if you have 3 items set with a minimum quanity
of say 30x, there could be a store that has 30x of two items wanted and only
29x of the third item and because of that the store won't show at all. When
in reality it would be helpful to use that store if there is nothing better just
to minimize the amount of separate orders needed to fulfill your needs. If it
showed close matches it would not only offer more options but would eliminate
the need to keep changing your wanted list quantities trying to find a store
that carries all of your items closest to the quantity you need. So you could
get 29 of that item and know that you only need to add 1x that part in another
order to complete your wanted list.

So you would have the following filters:

Exact Match - The current feature that will only show stores with all your wanted
items that meet the minimum requirement set.

Close Match - This would show stores that have all of your wanted items but a
few of them do not meet the minimum requirement. It could maybe calculate that
at least 90% of the items wanted meet the minimum requirement OR it could calculate
whether all of the items meet at least 80-90% of the minimum requirement. Whichever
produces the best results.

Thanks for reading.

Dear Admin,

When viewing "Items On My Wanted List" in a store it shows "xx Lots Found".
The Wanted List quantity is not shown.

Please add the option to remove "(Ignoring My Wanted Qty and Price Criteria)".
The system would display the Wanted quantity per List as on the "By Shop" tab.

This option makes it easier to see how many wanted lots remain.
This new option could be added as checkbox on this page: http://www.bricklink.com/wantedSettings.asp.

Thank you for reading.

Not sure if this has been suggested before but I didn't find it in a cursory
search.

It would be nice if you could mass-select the Notify checkbox for all the items
in the edit view of a wanted list, just like you can do with the Move, Delete,
and Query Shops options.

For instance, I uploaded an XML wanted list (omitting the NOTIFY tag) - now I'd
like to change them all to NOT notify without having to select each item's checkbox
individually.

I could be missing a setting that dictates the default value for NOTIFY when
uploading items but this would still be a useful addition I think. Thoughts?

Due to the current number of religious based symbols being made by the LEGO Group
of companies.

I do believe we should have a rule change in the forum to be able to discuss
ANY LEGO based item that has a religious basis.

As well I do believe we should be able to wish other people well upon any major
religious holiday, like Christmas.

That is my opinion on this matter.

Have a wonderful holiday.

I suggest an addition to the BrickLink banner at the top of all pages: Optimized
for Microsoft Internet Explorer

In this day and age, people expect that websites will generally work seamlessly
for all browsers. That is not the case at BrickLink. And it is a continous
source of frustration for users.

While I am confident this issue (along with 936 other suggestions) will be rectified
whenever BrickLink 2.0 is finally implemented, it seems simple enough to make
the change now and hopefully avoid some of the confusion while we wait.

Just a thought, since the team isn't busy enough fixing real problems like bugs
and rules....

A quick glance at the calendar shows over 10,000 lots being added per day.

Yes you can filter a search, but doing this daily, and filtering down to a small
number of potential items that might get listed once a day, week or month is
tedious and generally not worth it but makes me think - wouldn't it be good if
for sellers of sets or parts, that they could advertise in a dedicated forum
topic with drill down by sub-category as per the buying function, that they'd
uploaded something for sale.

This would help sellers and buyers alike. If everyone flooded the general sales
topic, it would be flooded, and not everyone is looking for someone's latest
mass inventory of a thousand unrelated parts.

Just a thought - what do others think?

I am a fairly new user to Bricklink and am trying to "Part Out" some modular
buildings.

First off, the tools to part out and manipulate parts are awesome, 2 thumbs up.

What I (and many others) experience is the debilitating task of finding the cheapest
order (optimum number of stores with lowest piece price).

At the moment I can see who has the most parts I am looking for (assuming they
haven't multi-listed the same part - GRRR!)
or
I can see the seller with the lowest price for each part.

I can also see how many parts my favorite sellers have.
----------------------------------------------------------
What I would like to see is to use my favorite sellers (ideally an additional
"Active" sellers List).
When looking at my wanted list(s) I would like the option to show "Active" sellers
first.

Reasoning:

As I find sellers with multiple, low price parts, I can add them to my active
list.

My wanted list will show Active sellers at the top (With a Star like the by shop
listing)
Parts without active sellers are easily identified and still need an active seller
found for them.

After I have found an active seller for all (most) parts, I would then be able
to easily select the cheapest active seller for each item.

----

An extra feature could be an automatic Move to active seller wanted list.

So, my "Set10101" Wanted list could be automatically (based on lowest price)
be moved to "Set10101-SellerABC","Set10101-SellerEFG","Set10101-SellerHIJ", Wanted
lists.

More functionality:
Option to suppress items with an active seller already found.
That way I can concentrate on finding sellers for the remaining parts.

Thanks,
Dirac

I suggest a part search option in the catalog.

The user should be able to enter:
- Length
- Width
- Height
- Weight
- Keywords (optional)
- Color (optional)
- Category (optional)

The best fit should go in top.

Note : the top 50 parts people ask to identify in the forum could be included.
(I took that last suggestion from an other post).

The Catalog: Items I Added Pending Approval page http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?myPend=Y
doesn't show the matching "pending approval" image, but instead shows the "Image
not available" graphic. It would be helpful if the image were shown, given it
is available -- albeit not approved.

Please consider adding an option to flag messages in the BL messenger feature.
Maybe add the flagged messages to the My Action Items list with a flag icon.
All optional.

Ok,
I would like to be able to flag any order, regardless of date to my action items
page. So the page might read.
1 order not invoiced.
2 orders not shipped
2 orders flagged

This feature would help me out a lot. If I have a buyer that hasn't paid, and
I need to file a npb I can flag that order. If I have a buyer who asked where
their package is, and I want to keep an eye on the order I can flag it. If I've
made special arrangements with a buyer on pay or something else, I can flag that
order. Basically anything that might need my attention today or two weeks from
now can get flagged.

Anyone else like this idea? Please vote yes.

When I send an email through BrickLink's system, I would like for the responder
to be able to reply ONLY through BL, and not to my email address.

We have an address we use strictly for BL business and therefore, rarely check
it because we read our messages on BL. On occasion, we miss an email from someone
because they hit reply from their inbox instead of replying through BL's system.
This also prevents a record of the correspondence on the order transaction details.
(We REALLY like that feature, BTW!)

Could this be accomplished by not including the sender's email address on correspondence
(when they receive it in their email inbox instead of reading it through BL)?
Instead could there be a link in the message with something like 'click here
to reply to this message' that would direct them back to BL?

I suggest the system does not allow ANY FB to be left by buyer or seller once
a NSS or NPB is filed. Only once the NSS or NPB is completed, or after 1 month,
whatever comes first, FB can be left.

This will prevent a buyer from leaving a retaliatory FB after filing of NPB while
it is still pending, or a seller from retaliating with a neg FB once NSS is filed.
All existing rules regarding FB remain in place.

I know there is a Problem Order topic but could the generic "NPBs/NSSs filed
against

doesn't want to read them?

Thanks.

Right now to see if an item I am looking for is available from a store that I
have a coupon I need to add the item to a wanted list.

I would like it if the coupon symbol was there beside the flags on the price
guide columns with items for sale -- maybe even push those items to the top of
the list (this could be a sorting option).

It is also nice when hovering over the icon to get details about your coupon.

Thanks for considering,
Mike.

Here's my first suggestion, and I'd like it do do this, but if not, I'll just
put it somewhere on my splash page.

When, in someone's store, you click on (Show all) for minifigures, it would be
nice if something would say that the seller could ship them two different ways,
and they could choose which way, but would need to send the seller a message
stating the way the buyer would like it.

or, if you clicked on (Show all) for sets, if would notify you that the seller
could ship the box flat if you wanted to on the used sets with box, if you notified
the seller.

The seller could change the message in the box to go with what he or she would
want it to say.

This is an alternate suggestion to bringing back the lot history, which seems
like its not going to happen (http://www.bricklink.com/messageThread.asp?ID=96834).

Hopefully this makes sense - please ask if I need to clarify.

One of the functions I used the lot history for was to find other orders for
the same part with only two mouse clicks away from looking at an order detail
screen. (In other words, when I'm having a problem filling an order). Well
that function already exists in alternate form in the Search Orders function.

What I'm proposing is an OPTIONAL link that sellers could turn on or off for
their Order Detail settings as desired (like checkboxes, inventory remaining,
etc.). This would just be something like a magnifying glass icon that would
appear on each order detail row. Clicking on the icon would take the user to
the Orders Search Results screen with the search results matching the same item
(Item Number, Type, Color, Condition).

This would make the search results only one mouse click away from the order detail.
The advantage of this suggestion for Admin is that he doesn't need to create
any new pages - just a link from one existing page to another existing page.

The value to sellers focuses on when someone buys out an entire lot, but the
seller has multiple orders still in process of being filled. Its a quick way
to ensure that packing the entire lot away in an order isn't going to short another
order that includes a couple of those pieces.

Thanks. -Jason

Hi,

I have noticed that when I click on the drop down list for the order status,
in order to change the status to 'packed', the order is deemed to be 'invoiced'
wether I have actually invoiced or not...

Maybe this needs to be tweeked a little because I had done that twice now and
not invoiced the customer until a few days later!

(I like to pack the orders before invoicing so I can determine WHAT size package
I should use in order to keep the customer's postage cost down..)

I hope this made sense?

Would it be possible to have the catalog images and price/quantity information
closer together when browsing a seller's store? Currently, while browsing items
for sale in a BL shop, the catalog images and price/quantity info are almost
one entire screen apart. The images are on the left side of the screen and the
price/quantity is on the edge of the right side of the screen. To see what I
mean, take a look at my own shop and click on the link for "show all items":

http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=fosterbengoshi

When scrolling through that screen, I cannot easily see the images and prices
without constantly looking left and right, left and right, over and over again.
Maybe I have tunnel vision or too large a monitor, but I could shop and scroll
through listings 2-3 times faster if I could see the images and prices next to
each other.

Of course, some people are comfortable with the way things are now, so please
make this an OPTION for buyers if at all possible. Thanks in advance.

Similar in some ways to this

http://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=476778

thanks for the inspiration...

but a bit more refined.

Typically quite afew sellers are kind enough to offer discounts to forum readers
or mailing list subscribers etc etc.

I suggest an option to display a small box during the checkout process where
the buyer enters a code that automatically discounts from the order.

A bit like the tv ads where you get X% off a product by saying a particular word
when you call or by entering a discount code at checkout thats given out in the
advert.

Coding from the sellers store settings could be quite similar to creating a coupon,
but instead of entering a members username the seller needs to enter the code.

I suggest a limit of 3 codes can be used at any one time, leaving enough room
to offer different groups different discounts (forum readers, mailing list subscribers,
convention attendees, existing customers etc etc)

One key advantage is there is no risk of the seller forgetting to apply a discount
or applying the wrong discount.

Another is that some sellers send coupons out to people who have placed orders
with them, with this, they need only mention a code in shipping notice or better
yet have it printed on a little business card to send in orders for a more personal
touch.

thanks for considering

I would like to propose an option to make a public checkout coupon..

Basically a coupon that shows up to everyone upon checkout. This way if you want
to do a sale say 10% of orders of $100.00 or more you can just create a single
coupon which everyone can receive at checkout. This would be great for short
sales like weekends or holiday.. without having to alter pricing on stuff.

When buying individual bricks, as opposed to sets, and almost certainly also
when selling individual bricks, it would be much more convenient to work with
cents instead of dollars.

Many individual bricks are sold for prices like $0.02 or $0.03. All those zeroes!
Even worse, sometimes bricks are sold cheap, for like $0.004, which at-a-glance
is non-trivial to distinguish from $0.04.

Even if cents (dollar-cents and euro-cents) are implemented as currency that
can be chosen in the interface (for buyers, and for sellers), there will still
be decimals used, for instance som bricks sell for $0.015 which is the same as
1.5 cents. But it'll stil be easier for those of us who buy indvidual bricks
and have no interest in sets.

I suggest that the Show Supressed link in the wanted list NOT go to the items
for sale list but instead just show the full list in the same format as formatted
originally.

The reason is that the For Sale list shows way to much information especially
if you are just looking for the next one down the list in a certain country or
are looking to find out how a certain store compares to others on a certain part.

On the fore sale list you would have to go back and forth through several pages
where on in the listing you would just scroll.

On the page which displays an individual lot's details (http://www.bricklink.com/inventory_detail.asp?invID=n),
there is a link to the catalog entry for that part number which is very useful.

Would it be possible to include a second link which loads the seller's inventory
detail page for that part number?

This would save having to manually type the part number into the top level My
Inventory search field when looking up filing location remarks for other colours
with the same part number.

They would be easier to keep track of as this way:

2 orders not yet invoiced
2 orders have been invoiced
1 order not yet shipped

Maybe make this an option for those who don't want the clutter.

or better yet:

2 orders not yet invoiced
2 orders have been invoiced
2 orders have been invoiced over 7 days ago (user can set days)
1 order not yet shipped

BrickLink policy appears to be that it will almost always automatically deny
and remove an NPB if the buyer has either filed or completed a PayPal reversal
or chargeback. This does not seem fair in many cases, especially if the PayPal
claim is filed only a few days after shipping (as we have seen several times
over the past few days).

Please change this policy to be more flexible and fair. Thus, I suggest that
an NPB filed after the buyer does a PayPal claim should NOT be denied or removed
by BrickLink if ALL of the following facts exist:

1. The seller can provide proof of shipping,
2. The seller's BrickLink shop terms and/or invoice clearly state that uninsured
orders are shipped at the buyer's risk, AND
3. When filing the NPB, the seller mentions the PayPal claim and their above
terms(1).

Additional facts which should also be considered are:

a. the reputation and feedback of the seller and buyer;
b. whether either the seller or buyer has filed or has had filed against it
an unusual number of PayPal claims; and
c. whether the buyer is also a BrickLink seller AND has terms in their own shop
disclaiming liability for uninsured orders.

I think everyone here will agree that when a buyer takes back their PayPal payment,
the seller has not been paid for the order. It is non-payment the same way a
bounced check would be non-payment.

Furthermore, BrickLink does not require the seller to show proof of delivery
to defeat an NSS, so why should BL require sellers to prove delivery to complete
an NPB (which is what they must do to defeat the PayPal claim)?

As for PayPal's Buyer Protection Policy, that is a separate matter between the
seller, buyer and PayPal. BrickLink is not part of that matter, no more than
BL is a part of enforcing PayPal's prohibition against charging PayPal fees.
PayPal's terms do NOT say anywhere that the buyer does not have to pay the seller;
only that the payment will not be processed via PayPal. Legally and contractually,
the buyer is still bound to pay. Only the manner of payment has changed.

All we want is a little more flexibility and fairness to prevent the abuses and
double whammies good sellers have been getting recently over this.

Foster

(1) In other words, Admin should not have to go looking for this or wait for
the seller's reply to the buyer's reply. The seller needs to make their case
for the NPB from the very beginning.

I suggest being able to have an option to have a superlot discount while retaining
the ability to sell the item individually..

IE sell the superlot at a 25% discount but it would automatically break it up
if some one were to buy a single item of the super lot

Example.. Minifigure series 2 set linked in a superlot cannot be sold separate
of that superlot unless it is broken up by the store.. however, if the store
had an option to have a superlot discount.. they could have all of the items
listed as a superlot for a %off and then the individual items listed as well..
without having to : #1 - lock up a set in a superlot, #2 go in and dissolve a
super lot manually, #3 Have duplicate listing for parts in or out of a super
lot...

I guess you could also call this linked discounting in that it would link several
parts together into a discounted group.

When one is sold out of the link you could have an option to retain discount
for the remaining items or have all items return to normal pricing.

Would it be possible to tweak the search results page to allow more searching
within the results? BrickLink already allows us to tweak those results by new/used,
location, min/max quantities, and to exclude superlots and incomplete sets. But
I was thinking more, such as being able to exlude more things and/or doing companion
searching for other parts available from sellers who also have the first part.

For example, run a search for 2x4 bricks (part number 3001) and you get 8100
lots. Let's say you are looking for bulk (new or used) in any color with a minimum
quantity of 100 from sellers in North America. That brings the number of lots
down to 272. But let's say you don't want any yellowed or worn parts, or yucky
lime colored bricks. It would be helpful to have the ability to EXCLUDE certain
lots from within these results - such as excluding lots with the word "yellowed"
in the comments or all lime colored bricks. Now let's say you also want to buy
2x2 and 2x3 bricks as well. It would be very helpful to search further within
the 2x4 results to find sellers who ALSO have 2x2 and 2x3 bricks in bulk.

Another example would be looking for bulk quantities of 2x4 bricks in white,
green and brown from the same seller without having to do separate searches or
dropping your search to create a wanted list.

I know some of this can be done by creating a wanted list. But I find making
wanted lists a bit cumbersome. It would be quicker and easier, and encourage
more spur-of-the moment searches and sales, if you could just tweak individual
search results to find exactly what you want without having to go outside of
those results to do something many members may not know how to do.

When searching for assemblies, eg.:

http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3137c01

I would like to see all fitting parts with images on one page rather then clicking
through all listings.

This Wheel fits with the following Tire & Tread(s):

* Part 59895 Tire 13mm D. x 4mm
* Part 4084 Tire Offset Tread Medium
* Part 3641 Tire Offset Tread Small
* Part 7 Tire Smooth Small Single

The current store visits counter is nice, but I would really like a counter that
displays how many active shoppers are in any certain store. Much like the one
on the BL homepage and was previously shown at the top right of most BL pages
under the login info.

The intent of this feature would be to help see if a sale, promotion, etc. is
driving people into a store. The current counter only shows hits which can be
generated multiple times by the same person in many ways, thus making it quite
unreliable for stats use. Alternately a referral link with stats that can be
looked up would work, but the active user counter would still be a nice addition.

Thanks for the consideration!

Please consider adding show only items in my country or select countries to My
Search Settings: Site-Wide Options. I realize there is a selection option in
Search Within Results, but it must be selected each time. For the most part,
I shop in the USA and this would make for faster viewing.

Please allow option to show "my cost" for individual stockrooms when on the My

Given the growing trend (especially with collectible minifigs) to have the "lowest
price" but only in a super-lot, I think it would be very helpful for sellers
to have an "Exclude Super Lots" link on the Price Guide screen.

This filter could work similar to the include/exclude links for complete sets
and not display the price guide information for super lots (when the exclude
super-lots link is clicked)

-OR-

The filter could work similar to the group by currency link and display the price
guide information for super-lots above or below the price guide information for
those that are not in super-lots.

I would like to see an update to the famed TOS.

This would include NO POSTING of persons handles in Subject headings on the forum.

I consider this to be personal information.

And I have taken offense at the use of it to single out a certain user (not me
by the way) on this forum for public attack.

This buyer is in good standing, and places large orders with stores on this site.

I agree that posting about 'flame topics' gets you more business (as presented
by our new #1 poster of the month).

But in that ruining a person's reputation by doing this practice is wrong.

Using something like "Buyer wants customs form fraud" works just as well, and
does not point a spotlight at a buyer.

In this case, customer is NOT ALWAYS RIGHT, but does he deserve to be drawn and
quartered in public for making a mistake?

Now discussion of a "wrong" matter in the forum is well documented, and I can
list many positive outcomes to posting a person's handle AFTER a NPB or NSS is
complete.

But to attack a person before any BL Admin process can take place, again in my
opinion, is just plain baiting.

I am sure I will have person's in this forum now attack my position by doing
personal attacks on me.

So I am going to ignore this post so I do not head down that path again today.

Have a great day, and I look forward to your business.

Showed everything the store had that was at the cheapest price on Bricklink.

When I am in gathering mode, this would be useful, and save me the time it takes
to go through my cart comparing each item to other stores.
I usually land in a store because it has the single item I was initially after
at the best price/qty.
But then I start seeing what else I might be able to use from the store.
Then I go compare everything I placed in my cart to other listings for the same
item.
This step could be eliminated if I can immediately see that this store has the
item at the lowest price.

I realize that anything that drives prices down, or pushes sales to the lower
priced items, is not necessarily of benefit to bricklink.
I am not sure I would implement this if I owned the site, as I see more benefit
to me as a buyer than to the site profits.
But maybe it would benefit the site.
This might get me to purchase stuff I might otherwise pass up, just because I
can immediately see that it is the best deal on the site.
Percent off sales have no effect on my deciding something is a good deal. I
do not care what the initial price was, I only care what the current price is,
and how that compares to other current prices and prices I might expect to see
in future listings (which is where price history effects my thinking).

(I am no good at debate, as I make an argument I start to see the merits of both
sides of the argument, and end up less sure than when I started debating. For
the same reason I would never make a good politician.)

I was told nicely to change our name when some took offense to it.

I did.

It took a month and our offending name is still there under our current name.

I would like ask that if this occurs that an email be sent to the person, then
the name be changed without the offending name being put under the (XXXXXX) name.

Once we found out that the word "pimp" offended, I wanted to change it, but it
took my 30 days.

We modeled it under the "Pimp my ride" program. Adult program=adult name.

A poster on here just posted on the forums. I am sure some will be upset with
his colorful choice of names.

Thank you for your consideration.

I suggest that where possible members be proactive and repair any problems they
find with this website themselves, using Greasemonkey. Greasemonkey is a Mozilla
Firefox extension that allows users to install scripts that make on-the-fly changes
to HTML web page content - details at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greasemonkey
Most Greasemonkey scripts can also be used within the Chrome browser. I'm
believe there is some kind of IE support.

The upside of fixing the problem yourselves is that we're not reliant on Admin
finding the time and the inclination to fix something you find annoying. It
also gives Admin a clear understanding of a suggestion - he can see it working
for himself, look at the number of people using the script and judge if that
seems to be a good idea. There's also a remote chance that the JavaScript client-side
implementation will inform any server-side re-implementation.

If Admin wants to encourage/facilitate this kind of activity, more extensive
use of the HTML id tag and/or unique HTML name tags would be helpful.

Standards:
I suggest that once an improvement has been posted in the Suggestions topic,
a reply be posted to the suggestion - but with the topic changed to Related Software
to make finding these posts easy. That reply should link to the script and give
any necessary instructions for use.
The Greasemonkey script should be posted to UserScripts.org, and tagged with
"bricklink" and "lego". The script should use the same @namespace ("bricklink")
and @icon (located at http://www.sculpturesupplies.com.au/GMBL.png) as other
bricklink scripts, making it obvious in the Tools | Add-ons dialog which scripts
are for Bricklink. The script should be named GMBL_whatever.user.js (Greasemonkey
Bricklink, or gimble) so that in a large directory all scripts are grouped together.
Scripts should be added as a link to "Inventory Software" http://www.bricklink.com/links.asp?catID=9
pending a more appropriate grouping.

When adding identical items of an identical color to an existing wanted list,

So, I had parts to a Geonosian droid, except for an arm and the plate.
I purchased both of those pieces, and I no longer need them. I was just looking
in my wanted list today, and that plate and arm are still there! I do not need
them
anymore, but they are still there!

Is this maybe an error? I did not buy the parts through the actual link on my
list,
just found them in stores. But I would still think that it would auto-correct
itself...

Is there a way to have all items in a group or on a list grouped together by
sellers when they send e-mail indicating they have a part or parts? I'm getting
50-100 hits from the same sellers for individual parts in my group wanted list...
Then, there's no way to contact the seller to ask him to group the items together
on one e-mail instead of 50 emails... it's exhausting going through each one...
It'd be great if stores could be ranked by how many numbers of items on your
want list are in their store...

I've been trying to find the best price to buy my Wanted list (that I've uploaded).
It is around 600 Lots for a total of 1200 parts.

And it seems to be difficult to do something like:

1) Look for the sellers with a maximum of part I want to buy (this is already
possible)
2) Select X sellers (maximum of 10)
3) Return the parts I want, they all have in common
4) Return the price of the order for each of the seller

I'm not sure the bricklink developer has time to do this, but that would be pretty
easy to program if an API is available

It would be nice to see progress of suggestions,
ie at a certain point (# of days or # of votes and/or % of for and against)
at this point it should be reviewed by mods an/or decision makers and if decided
"worthy"...
escalate to Admin (I will assume Eric) and the outcome decided upon.

At the moment it just seems like: -

1). "hey - ive got an idea"

2). 3). ..... n). "that's good/bad" mumble mumble (grumble) in the forum

The end

Next.

what say you? or will this just go thru stages (2 thru n) too?

The End

Next

Hi,

I think a check box would be handy when placing an order to remove items from
wanted list.

When you do up a wanted list, lets say you part out a set and find 1500 of 2000
items in store, when you place the order you can check a box to remove these
items from the wanted list or make a new list of what you are missing so you
can then do another search for what is missing and repeat. Its quite tedious
unticking so many different items.

List 1 2000 parts 1500 found
list 2 500 parts 300 found
list 3 200 parts 200 found

It would be nice if there were a place on the inventory detail input page for
sellers (the page where you change the number of an item in stock etc) had a
spot under, or next to, for instance that indicated if that item was in your
wanted list - nothing complicated saying the number or which list it's in, perhaps
just a capital 'W' somewhere or the word 'wanted' on the right under the Retain,
Stockroom, Del column. This could of course be optional.

The reason for this is that I have often placed items in my store that are also
on one of my wanted lists and it's been sold before I've realised.

Thanks for listening.

Morning Brick Link buyers and sellers.

This came up again today.

We were told this policy is an "attitude" when it is just a plan to keep our
prices down.

I would again like to suggest that the system allow the seller to set the lot
limits for purchases.

People just do not read the splash page!

Then when they are informed of the information, they say we have a bad attitude
or worse leave negative feedback.

We have no choice in the matter. We cannot afford to get 1.00 20+ page orders.

We are barely making it now with the current lot limit/discount in place.

Thank you for understanding, and I hope that this gets put in place soon!

Have a great week.

Hi.

Sorry to bring up an old topic!

But this once again happened to us!

The selling stores email address does not match the stores paypal address.

We sometimes have a problem that we cannot see the original INVOICE email.

So I go to the BL screen. I pull up the orders placed. I pay for my orders
placed.

Once again, one of the sellers I bought from had a store paypal address different
from their invoiced paypal address.

So I paid the incorrect account by accident.

I would like to see a line ON THE ORDER which shows: paypal address XXX@XXX.XXX
please!

This one little line would save us issues. Also I am sure others would appreciate
it as well.

Have a great time arguing! I see a pile of locked threads on the forum.

Must be a fun week.

How about instead of a simple check box with a bullet saying "I am at least 18
years old", we can instead place type in text boxes of: Day (2 digit type in)
- Month (2 digit type in) - Year (4 digit type in)

So for example a new member would have to type in their B-day:
Day [11] Month [9] Year [1990]

If the numbers calculate to less than at least 18 years of the current date,
then that new member gets rejected.

Being that BrickLink is for 18 years and older, then it should also have New
Member Age Verifcation systems that... other types of websites intended for 18
years and older have!

I would like to suggest that when there is an event, like todays prediction that
people can post about it.

I am sure the MODs have MUCH more to do with their lives then trying to kill
all of the news posts.

I agree, no religion.

But news is news.

So here is an addition to the rule;

If CNN is running it more then 2x per hour, people will be allowed to talk about
it in the forum for THAT DAY ONLY.

hehe.

Have a great day!

Can you search for shops that sell Lego from a smoke and pet free home?

If it isn't a feature, do you think it can be a future possibility?

Implementing a 3 days filing for NPB will be a nice feature.
7 days was good when people used Money Orders, Personal Checks or even cash.
For those who still use them , marking as payment when place the order give the
seller option to wait more.
Why the seller must be penalized for someone who is just playing games?
The 7 days waiting for finalizing the NPB(canceling the order) is again a penalty
for sellers.
The worst part here is the buyer responds to NPB filling but without any intention
to pay for the order and the waiting time for cancellation is doubled to 2 weeks.

Please expand the option to return an item back to store inventory after order
item removal requests to those requests started by sellers, too:
http://www.bricklink.com//help.asp?helpID=267

Currently, the seller can do so for OIRR started by buyers only - along with
his approval of the request.
While I see the logical background (a buyer should start the request if he doesn't
want an item anymore even though it's available - sellers only should start those
requests in case an item cannot be found) the real life is a little bit different:
In order to speed up the process, I usually start OIRRs upon buyer's request
and just let them approve the request.

Therefore, returning items back to inventory can actually be required for seller
initiated requests as well and should be enabled.

Thanks,
Jan

Is there away to where we would only have to login once every 24 hours like on
Ebay. Not to confuse or compare us to Ebay but would that be a possibile. If
it works for them would it work for us? I also do not know what would be involved
on the Admin side of it but is just a suggestion. Thank you for all that you,
The admin, has done. I do appreciate your hard work & efforts to keep everything
going. God Bless, James.

If you search for an item in your wanted list and no matches are found, there
should be something saying "Would you like to add one of these?"

This way you would not have to click through several pages to add it, if you
wanted to. This might be applicable in inventory searches as well.

I understand everyone starts out at zero at some point but sometimes dealing
with new buyers can be a pain for any number of reasons. And I know some sellers
are more then willing to deal with it, and 90% its not that big of a deal for
me either. But due to a couple of pending orders I have now that have from new
buyers with shipping address issues and their lack for response for days it got
me thinking.

In the "My Store Settings" under "My Store Options:".

The same place you find the "Disallow members with negative feedback score to
buy from my store".

Add a new check box that says...

Disallow buyers with less then (seller types number in box) positive feedback
to buy from my store.

Hello everyone (sorry for my English),

Presently I use BL only for buying , but I thinks it should be great if the non-seller
could registred it's ouwn inventories (sets, parts, etc..).

With this possibility it could be possible to identify quickely wich parts of
a sets or a MOC-project (using Parts-list) must be really buye.

With this new non-seller configuration, I can imagine if you have put in BL all
of your items, may be somme of non-seller could be interressed to sell a part
of theyr items (to be identiyed with flag option as: to be selled/not to be selled).

Please comments.

Best regards

MarYves

Wouldn't it be nice if the catalog has some search mode for out of the ordinary
colored items like prototype colors andsoone?

I have several dark purple Halberd Elaborate 6123 that might interest buyers.
But it's not something you generally look for if you don't know such an item
excists.

Maybe a search in the catalog named HTF or Hard to Find, rare or whatever term
Catmin chooses?

It would be nice for me/us as seller(s) but also for the buyer that looks for
something different he/she otherwise would not find.

First of all, this is brilliant site and a great resource.

I'm looking to get my hands on as much of the sport theme (hopefully all if possible)
after rekindling my passion for LEGO from my childhood.

However, despite finding the catalogue and setting up my result list, I noticed
it would be useful if there was a function where I can filter out sellers that
ship to me (in the UK). As it is, as far as I can see, I can only either filter
out sellers based in UK (of which there don't seem to be too many selling sports
stuff) or I have to click through each individual seller and see if they do ship
to me.

Just a suggestion Keep up the good work!

If there was a way to add a column in the WantedBy Shop report that gave you
the average price of parts on your list at that shop.

Hi everybody,

This has been bugging me ever since I discoverer (& how to use) my wanted list(s).

It would be really really great if when looking at the cart, if I could have
the info from my wanted list(s), specially the remarks (I put all info there)
but I guess it would also be useful to many to have max price & min qty. It would
also be useful to have this info displayed when looking at a store by colour
or category.

Thank you for reading,

Olivier

P.S. Forget all my other request/suggestion, I think this is my most important
so far !

Suggestion here,

I think I have a good idea for the wanted list.

A seller can see how many people want what color of what part/set. That is a
good feature in itself.

My thoughts:
Make it so sellers could view the exact details of the wanted items. Not the
usernames due to everyone personally contacting them about orders.
BUT let sellers see the specifications of the wanted items such as the quantity
people want and at what price. If a seller could see this we could actually go
on a hunt and try to fill these orders.
This would make the sellers money, bricklink more money with fees, and the buyer
will be happy to get the items they wanted.

What does everyone think?

Keep the current system but add the following:

Make it so that regardless of the filter one is looking through a shop
with and icon will appear on the right side of that item's list (next to
where the the wanted list info currently appears). Make so that either one can
click on it and have a small pop-up window appear OR hover the mouse over it
and a tooltip appears. This window or tooltip would contain a list of all that
user's wanted lists on which that item appears with quantity on each list
and (if there's multiple lists) the total quantity wanted. That way it would
be easier to get additional information on a part that you have in multiple wanted
list if one is view parts that are on just one list. It would also help by noting
that a part appears in one's wanted list while just browsing without any
filters set.

This is not important, but might be easy to fix.

When item is in more than one "wanted" list, and they both have a Max Price
entered, the average is displayed, but it is wrong.

The calculation fails to sum the values before dividing.

eg)
Max Price A: $0.15
Max Price B: $0.15
My Avg Max Price: CA $0.075

Otherwise, thanks for all the great work!

I'm just in the process of putting items for my next MOC onto my wanted list
and I thought it would be nice to have an additional feature that allows us to
put in how many pieces of an item we want but without it having an affect on
the list of sellers we see.

For example I would like about 20 dark Blue 1x1x6 support pillars.
As it is right now I can check "Notify me only if the Quantity of the part for
sale is more or equal to:" but then only those stores that have 20 or more will
show. On the other hand if I don't put in the quantity, all the stores that
carry the item will show but if I buy 2 or 3 at one store along with other items
and then choose to remove all the items I bought from the wanted list at the
end of the check out process,I have to add the item again to my wanted list.

I feel it would make things easier if we could input a "quantity wanted" and
then have the option to check "show only stores with the above quantity for sale"
or not. Then if we purchase less than the quantity we want at one store that
number will be subtracted from the quantity wanted total.

I ran into a glitch on the site and got this notice:

"An error occurred on the server when processing the URL. Please contact the
Bricklink Administrator with your user name, the page you were on and what you
were doing at the time. Screenshots are also helpful in debugging problems on
the site."

Figuring out how to contact the Bricklink Administrator took me more than a few
minutes. I'm not a newbie, but I guess I've never had to email the admin
before. Perhaps I am missing something blindingly obvious, but I will risk embarrassing
myself to admit that I was not able to find the admin's contact information.
I suppose I could have tried emailing admin@bricklink.com, but I shouldn't
need to guess at the administrator's email address.

If the Admin wants people to contact him or her with information about glitches,
perhaps the Admin's email address should appear as part of the error message.

The home page gives the Admin's twitter handle. That's no help to someone
who is not on twitter.

I ended up going to the Help center. A new user might think that information
about giving feedback to the administrator might be under "Feedback," but that
would be wrong. "General" and "New User Tutorial" are similarly incorrect. "About
Bricklink" doesn't help, either.

It shouldn't take this much effort for a user to try to report a bug in the
system.

Now, go ahead and point out how the

When you upload a small image, there is a checkbox which will automatically resize
small images to their proper dimensions, would it be possible to also have an
option so that large images may be automatically resized to their dimensions
as well? (640x480) This would save considerable time when uploading new images.

Thanks,
Andy
