I like the idea. Often a store offers rare parts which are not on my wanted list.
But it is hard to find them. With this feature you can make a fast choice to
buy them for example to meet the minimum amount.

Yes, it woulg make more sales for stores that offer "rare" or "HTF" parts, without
them having to say "Rare" or "HTF" in the description. Also, it would filter
oy non rare, but marked as such in the comments

I would like to be able to sell or order Pixar Cars (completed)

It would be great to have a section, maybe in minifig section for them so people
could sell them and by them instead of looking for all the individual parts.

Thanks for considering

There is lots of new designs released in 2012...

Even if they are not considered minifigs they are caracters...

So if they are not categorised with minifigs it woud be great to locate them
in a section

They are (kind of).

We ... suggest you follow this and that way of conduct or else ...

You can choose not to follow the suggestion.

Some say that is unfair
Some say it is criminal

Some disobey trying to avoid custom Taxes for several reasons.

My integrity dictates a different belief in this matter.
I do actually stop for pedestrians, set my speed at the limit, do not dance on
sunday's in the world of footloose. I, if need be, attempt to change things,
when I disagree.

What say you? Shall we all cheat to win? Shall we all step on others, no matter
the cost, for our own greed?

It was explained to me, how I could cheat the state government for extra moneys
by telling a small lie, it would mean I could get thousands of $$ in heath care...
But even on this issue, I can not lie. A lie for profit, via state or person
is, in my eyes reprehensible.

There are many who seem to think it's O.K. to lie, cheat, or steal to get ahead.
Perhaps this is the way the world, and this community has devolved to.

I'll not be happy, or stand idle for this.

I'll post opinions (until silenced) and stand for the good of the community.

Again, what say you!

You posted, I responded.

Ask the other 50% the BL users for the reasons...

You assume 50%, but is this just some number you've made up without facts to
back it up?

I have been asked several times from USA users to send the PayPal as personal
payment.

A risky way to pay, as a buyer.

We have no such options so I had no the option to break the laws for this...

But such questions and others similar to this one happen often here. So I think
that such a suggestion will not help to prevent such questions.

But in general I understand that countries need taxes for several projects and
I pay them without beeing angry as I know it. But laws are not allways fair and
when the laws are not fair then the people are not willing to follow it.

As an example in Germany: It is not fair that you pay 46% of your earned money
to the country as taxes and for health organization and so on but when you go
to the dentist then you have to pay between 25 - 100 Euro for a white plomb!

If you don't like your own system, work to change it, until then, laws are not
suggestions.

  No...

Why?

Several sellers have said that MANY buyers are wanting to undevalue their packages.
This means that not only 5% of BL users want it but almost the half (in my opinion).

So it does not make a big sense in my eyes...

Beside this, I can understand the people.

The custom taxes are there to protect the own market against foreign influence.
This is great and makes also sense for new LEGO sets.

BUT:

It does make NO sense for very old sets that exists ONLY in a foreign country.
From this point of view the buyer has no chances to buy it from his own country!
So what does the customs here protect??? Nothing and in this case the people
pay the tayes for nothing!

And I would say that in most cases people are buying sets from foreign countries
not because of cheaper prices but because of missing them in their own states...

Mauro

So, you are in favor of violating laws? You are in faovor of unfaair trade? You
are unwilling to deal with your own government's use of taxes, so you suggest
simply undercutting the system under which you live?

Laws are not suggestions...

I vote "Yes" Here myself

Please describe, in either this, or the other suggestion how you would write
the new addendum to the items listing policies.

-R

"Original boxes can only be listed as used." Take the new option off as a choice
when listing.
John P

or,

"Original boxes can only be listed as used unless received directly from LEGO
before being used as packaging." "Used boxes should have their condition clearly
stated in the comments for the item" "It is encouraged to make photographs of
boxes, as condition is subjective"

I am not taking a position as to which of these two cases should be added
in this suggestion, just that a clear definition should be made.

(I will also make suggestions for used only condition and used/new)

-R

How will that impact sets from 1966-80 where shrinkwrap on the outer box is considered
the seal?

Or sets before 1966 where the (non-sealed) box top comes off to show the seal
being the shrinkwrap on the lower box? (See below).

And then there are the spare parts packs before 1972 that often had no seal whatsoever
to speak of?

Cheers,
Gary Istok

I don't know, perhaps if you added a clear definition to deal with these situations
(that's what this thread is for) then we'll have an idea how to deal with them.

So you vote "No" here

So, as we are now experiencing massive coupons expirings...

Red flag on my BrickLink..

"A coupon you've issued is about to expire, do you wish to renew?" Or something...

Instead of drastically changing BrickLink's feedback system so late in the game,
how about giving sellers the option of asking their buyers to take a brief survey
assessing their transaction and then posting the results of that survey in their
feedback profile via a link to another page containing only those survey results?

This would be OPTIONAL for sellers to include with their feedback profile and
OPTIONAL for buyers to complete. However, once opted in, a seller cannot opt
out if he does not like the results of the survey.

Thor

An anonymous survey for previous buyers or sellers would be interesting.

For a buyer:
Rate Invoice speed, Packing speed (time between payment and shipping), Quality
of packaging, Quality of parts (or sets)

For a seller:
Prompness of payment, communications (if there are problems or special requests)

Additional comments for both.

But only available after FB has been left, and locked in place, so that there
could be retaliation for comments.

I was told nicely to change our name when some took offense to it.

I did.

It took a month and our offending name is still there under our current name.

I would like ask that if this occurs that an email be sent to the person, then
the name be changed without the offending name being put under the (XXXXXX) name.

Once we found out that the word "pimp" offended, I wanted to change it, but it
took my 30 days.

We modeled it under the "Pimp my ride" program. Adult program=adult name.

A poster on here just posted on the forums. I am sure some will be upset with
his colorful choice of names.

Thank you for your consideration.

How many languages do you speak? What may seem inoffensive in one world, may
in fact, be offensive in another.

So long as it doesn't violate laws, who cares? ( yeah, laws... I care about
them )

If one wants to be "Im a big jerk and I'll rip you off at every chance I get"
If it fits in the allowed space, why not?

Seriously, who'd name themselves or their store "I'm a child porn star"

Let's just behave in a somewhat slightly serious modicum of decency...

I think it would be helpful for chat users to be able to display an icon next
to thier name in the "users in room" listing that would take a user directly
to the store.

This option could be toggled on/off in the chat settings just like any other
option. I'd recommend default=off to keep things from getting needlessly cluttered.

This would be helpful for a few reasons:
1) A chat user could quickly see who the sellers are in the room
2) A chat user could quickly go to a seller's store with just one click
3) More store views = more sales (statistically speaking)

My recommendation for the icon is to use the same house icon that is currently
used for store links on the orders-placed screen.

Aye!

I am tired of staring at this combination of green and light blue day in and
day out.

I am SURE I am not alone on this.

Hey, don't get me wrong, both colors are nice. But the combination is odd, and
the permanence of it; it is so mind-numbingly persistent I can't take it anymore.

We already have the option to choose background colors in our storefront. I suggest
implementation of the option, when logged in to your account, of being able to
set general site background colors.

Right now as I type this suggestion I have the green and light blue in my face,
right now, laughing at me, mocking me. I need to change the color or I may go
crazy lol.

Since the green and light blue is apparently the long term, time-tested, tried
and true official popularly recognized colors of Bricklink it would still be
there when not logged in (and for all those people who never set their own color).
But can we please have the option to change these colors!? PLEASE

I am partial to shades of brown and soft warmer tones like orange.
Can't... take... all this... green... anymore... ehhhh (gasp, fall on floor).

I propose that the Forum rules that outlaw discussion of Religion or Politics
should be lifted in times of

"Extreme discourse".

We could have a pre-set background colour change as the discourse becomes more
extreme.

The Green background could turn to Yellow if discussions are ongoing about items
for sale --
Chrome bricks, custom parts etc.

The background would then turn to RED if discussions are ongoing about individuals
and ethics/morality.

When the Yellow background is up - members would be encouraged to post OFF TOPIC
items, jokes, links to cute videos etc.

When the RED background is up - free for all -- anything to change the subject
-- Dirty Jokes, links to "other" videos, Religion and Politics discussion --
EVEN posts to e-bay LINKS selling LEGO instead of just posting all the info necessary
to see it without a simple one click solution !!!!

"No personally identifying information - Do not include any e-mail address or
physical mailing address or telephone number in a discussion forum post."

The policy seems a bit too strict on the personally identifying information.
Interpretation of the current policy is open for debate, though the moderators
follow it to the letter.

I propose that it be modified to be "No Personally Identifying Information of
any BL Member." Outside corporation addresses, phone numbers, etc can be be
informative and very useful. The moderators would still have final say on anything
that is borderline on the updated policy.

Thank you for considering the change.

http://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=126

Perhaps this re-wording, or something similar may be appropriate:
"Do not include any personally identifying information of private individuals,
do not post private email addresses, physical addresses, names, or phone numbers.
Posting of public intitution email, phone numbers, or addresses is acceptable
if relavent and neccesary where this information is not obtainable through normal
means"

So, posting the phone number of the Seattle police department is unnecesary,
as you can just say "contact the Seattle police" and that's quite easy to look
up. When a specific individual has a case pending, and it's relavent to post
their direct line and extension, then it would be appropriate to say "contact
Detective Columbo of the Seattle police at xxx-xxx-xxxx ext xxx regarding case
#nnnn"

I like it, though I wonder a bit about the general "Seattle police" example you
mention. While I would agree it would be unnecessary, would you then see such
a post as needing to be cancelled?

--
Marc.

There is the problem, as soon as we start allowing some phone numbers
etc.. to be published in forum, then, due to (some) members not being aware of,
or wishing to test the limits of the rules, the work of moderators goes up tenfold.

As it is, nearly every post cancelled gets followed up with a string of "Why
did you cancel" which would be almost entirely unnecessary if people would just
first read, then follow the existing rules.

As imperfect as they are, the rules do exist for a reason, reasons which can
be debated (in the appropriate thread) and possibly changed.

I am currently doing a project and I have a list of items I need. The way the
current wanted list works is to show me lowest priced items in specific quantities
on the list from the stores with the lowest prices for that item.

What I think would be awesome is if somehow we could see which (if any) stores
had the entire list of items in the appropriate quantities (or failing that,
which stores can complete the highest percentage of my order).

For example: say I need 100 Black 1x1 Bricks and 250 White 1x1 Bricks and 50
green 2x1 bricks (totally made up example) - rather than order each item from
a different store and pay shipping multiple times, often I would prefer to pay
a few cents more for some items (especially ones I might only need a few of)
but ship everything from a smaller number of stores.

For a complicated project with hundreds of items, the shipping expense can become
a significant cost for the project after paying several dollars shipping from
dozens of different stores - I for one would prefer for the Lego community to
keep that money and purchase more Lego than the post office get it.

I use this to start: http://www.bricklink.com/wantedShop.asp
