If the seller fails to do so, a simple refund of the missing items is not sufficient
as the buyer needs to put time in searching a new store to purchase from AND
to pay shipping costs again.

The seller can offer:

A) The buyer returns the full order, with a full refund (including original shipping
costs AND including the return shipping costs, since it was a seller's problem).
Seems expensive for the seller, but it's the seller's fault to begin
with.

B) Refund missing items and reasonable part of the original shipping costs. Or
completely. So the buyer isn't forced to pay shipping costs at another store
from his own pocket.

C) Make sure the buyer receives the items. If you (the seller) doens't have
it in stock, you can place the order yourself at another store, and re-ship (or
just choose a dropshipping method).

I know all options will eat (part of) your profit, but it was your error to begin
with. The buyer can't be held accountable for the mistakes a seller made.
So for a seller you can only sigh, take the cost and learn to get better and
order fulfilling to spot missing items.

The solution you offered to simply refund the actual costs of the missing items,
without even reaching out to the buyer first to discuss options, is not a good
one. I usually go for option C) because I find it my obligation as a seller to
make sure I fully fulfill the order without extra work for my customer. All efforts
and costs to rectify a problem, should come from the seller.

I understand BrickLink used to have more of a "kindred spirits" without
a true enforced "buyer-seller relationship with commercial and legal obligations".
But things have evolved over time, as more and more people found their way to
BrickLink. As a result, the commercial and legal obligations become more and
more important, so it's important for sellers to be aware of these obligations
and act correctly to follow these obligations.

Lastly, I don't think it really professional to post this issue here in the
thread and mention the related user. It might even be considered a privacy violation
to do so? I think it is. But in any case, as a seller, stay professional. This
isn't really a professional action.

You might continue by stoplisting my account as well based on the fact you will
probably not like this reply. It's just how I think about this situation
and give you some other point of view you might consider.

fully agree you.

You are both missing the point that this customer is a bad person, before being
a customer.

Hello,

I'm here since 2007, it makes 17 happy years on bricklink for me and it's
a site I use daily.

I want to say that I also wrote several LEGO books and dedicated one to the late
Dan Jezek, who in my opinion built this site with an ethical view in his mind.

But there's one thing I always have problems, because now I would really
like to leave a negative feedback and I feel my hands are tied.

This user, you can look within his feedbacks, is at his second attempt to get
money from sellers for factitious reasons. He was passive-aggressive and tried
to extort me money. When I refused only because I know PayPal's TOS, this
user tried to trick me into giving him back all the shipping costs.

The last message he wrote me, as you can see, is something that should NOT be
tolerable on this platform. Though what he says, I have never ever insulted a
bricklink user in my life, I have never told a single lie, and being insulted
this way is something that should never be accepted here.

I believe bricklink should have a "report" button when an user says such
infamous things to another user.

Here we trade bricks, things that should carry happyness and joy.
I just sell stuff to buy more LEGO for myself, I am not a professional, still
I try to act in the most professional way I can.

But users like this and the fact they can pasture here on bricklink because if
I leave him a negative he will retaliate and this is more a damage for me than
for him... it's something that saddens me.

I suggest you to block this user as I did, and forgive me for my rant, I hope
this reaches to the mod team and they can start thinking something about this.

Like, for example, I would be very happy if they prevented such user to leave
me a feedback, so that I can leave a negative with no second thoughts.

Thanks

  Hello,

today something very bad happened.

An user made me an order, paid, and I shipped it.
Out of 233 parts, he declared that 1 was incorrect and 5 missing.

I went on my shop to see if I could reship the missing/wrong items but to my
surprise, none of them were available.

I don't want problems, so for a few bucks, I refunded those parts.

Probably, this buyer saw me weak because he then became demanding.

- I'm not happy with the refund. Either you send me half the shipping price
as a compensation, or I will cancel the entire order and ship it back on your
behalf.

Once noted that PayPal states that though he's entitled to, it's on HIS
behalf it became.

- No it's on your behalf. If before I said that I was ok with half shipping
price, now it's full shipping price, or I will cancel the order and open
a claim as "not as described".

I remarked that the parts not as described were refunded, but he said that he
was not needing the order as a whole.

I then went on his feedback profile and see that he already tried this trick
before. A seller paid him to ship the order back, and he never did.

Can we do something in these cases, or are we totally powerless?

I'm not speaking about the PayPal claim, I know I will win it.

But is there a way to defend ourselves from this kind of users?

How much was shipping?

half off doesn't tell us much.

I usually offer to cover shipping if I can't replace something. Often that's
the same amount they paid just for shipping or close to it.

So for example, if shipping was $8, and they have to pay $4 to get the parts
from someone else, that's totally a reasonable request IMO.

I think this fits.

I will surely leave a bad feedback, but I am sure I will get one back in return...

When was it received?
You've a proof of reception (but of course he received because he complains,
but for PayPal)?

Yes I have.

Order total + shipping price?
Refunded parts price?
Qty of parts refunded // total parts?

2€ on over 100€ because they were just 6 parts over 226.

You did well refunding what was said damaged/missing.

Thanks

Then simply ignore?

I can't for how I'm done.

But is there a way to defend ourselves from this kind of users?

It's possible they were damaged/missing.

Regarding returning goods, it's also possible - depending your conditions,
when it was received, etc.

But at the buyer cost AFAIK. NOT at your cost.

I agree with that.

I have seen a few discussions on getting the 6 month average for a store's
inventory using BrickStore but my quesiton is different (I think) from the discussions
I have seen.

I am looking to upload new stock using XML and want to automtically set these
products to the 6 onth average. FIrstly i gues is it possbile to do this with
BrickStore automatically. I havent found a way but I'm certainly no expert.

My option was to try and download all parts with the 6 month average and the
join them together to populate the XML.

Are either of these possible via Bricklink, BrickStore or any other tool?

Thanks everyone

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,

These are tricky! According to online: "Arishem is a being made of pure cosmic
energy..." So, I would describe the pinkish stuff as energy veins and the
rest as muscles/sinew.

The sand green one is from a Deviant Bat similar to this one:

In one photo on the catalog they look orange. When you click the photo, they
look Nougat. I placed an order recently from a fellow Canuck, and received arms
that definitely looked more orange than nougat. Is this a known issue?

I've illustrated the issue with this crappy photo, but you see what I'm
getting at.

The lighting is bad, but they look like they could be nougat hands and medium
nougat arms or light nougat hands and nougat or medium nougat arms. It is a good
idea to photograph and compare them to something where you know the colours are
correct.

Are those nougat hands? They look more like light nougat, but all of this is
very hard to tell on a camera phone.

Haha yes!

I'm actually more shocked these days when I can't remove a stain, between
acetone, alcohol and H2O2 and the fabulous magic eraser (do not use on lego though,
I've learned the hard way you can see the scratches)

The disinfectant wipes, doesn't have to be lysol, work. They also take the
stickiness off if removing stickers. Or hand sanitizer (alcohol?).

#1 There is a reason BL has the review section when you post new items. Its
good to review it before you blindly click. I've caught a few fat finger
typings during my listings.

#2 If you use the radio button for sales options be sure you ABSOLUTELY know
what your doing before hand and After you are done with the sale and review your
items again.

#3 Its always good to review your stuff every few months. Just to be sure.

Outside of that some have claimed over the years we have gremlins. While I know
these Gremlins exist, in all my time here I have never seen something magically
change until it was something I did via 1-3 listed above.

Cheers

Gremlins were, but not with the prices, but with the number of items, with onsite
payments, more items were returned to the warehouse than there actually were.
If the system evaluated these onsite payments as not executed, the items from
the warehouse were not written off, but the order in the deposit was then added
to them, so when someone then bought items to zero, I had 2x more than the actual
amount after such an unexecuted order. It happened to me with several orders
and quite large ones, when my warehouse suddenly grew by several thousand items
without me doing anything. But that was 2 years ago and luckily I haven't
registered anything like that since then.

I do know that qt# are one of those Gremlins but with my Store being small I
caught the few times it happened or before the order got processed to deal
with it. While I have NO way to prove it. I suspected a few years ago it was
tied to the Tier Pricing. almost like each tier could have been adding to the
inventory. When I worked the math it didn't make sense so I didn't bother
digging further and just always redid inventory checks every few months against
a previous qt count of the higher bulky items.

New seller. First order. Buyer purchased set for a price which I believe is less
than I listed for, but I cannot confirm what I listed it for. Is there a place
to do that?

As the others said, there's no built-in way to check, but that's one
of the things BrickStore is excellent for - just one click to backup your stock;
do it regularly, and you have offline copies of everything to verify in case
of problems!
Anyway, don't fret too much, I don't think there's anybody here who
never had problems to learn from, welcome and enjoy your time on Bricklink!

Where can I find the tracking number on orders?

If you paid with Paypal, it may also be they made it available through Paypal
directly.
