| Seriously? Light trans-black would have been a more appropriate identifier as
there is a noticeable difference, however there is nothing brown about this color
that we are now calling trans-brown.

| Hi!
I am having a small issue with a customer who claims te have recieved parts with
sun damage
He sent me pictures of what i believe are his own arches (or maybe other arches
out of the same order: i do not know) and the different "sun damaged"
parts picked out of the different lots/items
Since all parts have the same color on the inside and outside i suspect color
variations/inconsistencies from a parted out set (7094)
Trying to resolve the issue with the customer but i am wondering how yall are
handling this, also with the sand green, dark red, pearl gold and other color
inconsistencies, since it also seems to happen in modern new sets
Do you still opload the part?
Do you place a note on seperated lot?
Or ditch the parts in a bulk bin?
Thanks in advance!!!

| New thread, new title etc etc
I've more or less reworked the data I had with the new, accurate silver
classifications, which is lovely! I'm liaising with hereforbricks614 to try
and tick off as many Bionicle-specific 296 parts as we can. 2006 is still our
dodgy year, with 131 v1, 131 v2, and 296 all being used. I'm a little concerned
that 2005 might be a potential source of 296 too, but have written off 2007 (blame
some very, very dodgy 131 v2 Jaller swords for that). Te only real challenge
left is to detangle the aforementioned dodgy 131 v2s, and true 296 pieces I've
managed to confirm a bunch of the potential parts already, but more rechecks
are required before I bring that data to BrickLink proper for potential catalogue
inclusion. I'll keep picking at it as I find time between work and other
dumb Bionicle-centric side projects.
Unfortunately, 296 isn't our only bugbear. I've had 2 confirmed sightings
of this weird dude: a 131 v1 Mahri shoulder piece. This image was provided by
a mate, I don't have this piece myself. This piece was introduced in 2007,
and in theory shouldn't exist. In both reported cases, a single one of these
was pulled from a bulk lot, with no accurate indication of what set contained
it. Even more strange: there are no sets that only use 1...
If anyone has any insight as to where this weirdo snuck in, I'd love to hear
it. I'd also love to hear from anyone who has owned the 2005 Bionicle system
playsets from NIB, particularly if said sets contained a Pearl Gold Kraahkan/Pearl
Gold Visorak body. There's a slim chance they might have used 296 as their
silver, going on other contemporary uses, and I'd love to be able to write
them all off conclusively.
Thoughts?

| I recently bought a few different colours for the kids to play with, but in their
haste they opened all the bags and sorted them into containers before I could
label them. Most of the colours seem straight forward but there are some I have
difficulty distinguishing between. Is there an app that I can check each colour
individually, or would someone be able to identify each of the colours for me?
Can provide better photos if needed.

Any reason for skipping those?

Not sure if its even possible to do without painting them myself.

What will BrickLink call it? I've heard it called both "Reddish Orange"

| In reference to this "Colors - Additional Notes" help page: https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=1096&q=color
Isn't the note on medium violet outdated, as of the addition of Lilac?
The note on rust is also outdated. We know well by now that the "rust"
parts of 1979 - 1992, and those of 2004-2005, are intentional colors, being [TLG
13 - Red Orange] and [TLG 216 - Rust] respectively, and that the 1997- 2000 "Rust"
is just bad red [TLG 21 - Bright Red]. There's really no ambiguity to be
had there.

I recently sold a silver chrome 3001 which the buyer is not happy with saying
its an anniversary edition. Does anyone know of any specific variants?
I naively thought a silver chrome 3001 was a silver chrome 3001.

| Hi,
I'm going through some old Lego Star Wars Lego sets.
At the moment I'm looking at 10188 Death Star.
I didn't even open all the boxes on this set and all parts or original.
See the 2 x images below:
The image on the left is slightly less 'blueish' then the one on the
right.
Flipped over (the less blueish one is now on the right), the underside is a lot
more glossy where as the (IMO) true light blueish grey is a more matt finish
on the underside.
There are about 8 of each in this set and all of the left have one shade, all
of the other have the slightly different shade.
I think I'm seeing this in other Star Wars sets from around the same too
where the greys are ever so slightly different.
Why is this? Have I somehow mixed pieces up - which would be difficult seeing
as I don't have those lager grey pieces anywhere else?
Appreciate some advice!

Author: | Shaggy_Rogers | Posted: | Nov 2, 2023 14:42 | Subject: | Colours for sale VS Known colours | Viewed: | 92 times | Topic: | Colors | Status: | Open | |
|
| Hi!
I collect all kinds of bricks and parts, and the goal of my collection is to
have 1 of every colour of every type of brick/part/element. So for example, 1
of every colour of part 3021. But the problem I keep coming across is that when
I go on a catalog page for a part, often there are many more colour variants
for sale than there are colours that are known. For example, going back to part
3021, I know for a fact that there is a pearl light grey colour variant because
I own one, and yet it is not listed as a known colour. Other people are also
selling part 3021 in pearl light grey so I don't know why it isn't a
known colour.
Can someone please explain to me why there is very frequently a difference between
the colours for sale and the known colours? I appreciate that occasionally a
seller might misidentify a colour (e.g. sell it as Medium Nougat when it is actually
Nougat), and that even less occasionally there might be some fakes entering circulation
on the market, but surely this doesn't account for the many catalog items
lacking known colours when they are for sale? It is making it very difficult
as a collector to know if I should purchase colours that are for sale but are
not "known" in case they are not genuine or are mislabelled.
All opinions appreciated.
Many thanks,
Lucas

| Hello! I was wondering if the same colour shades for bricks get changed over
the years. For example, would a black or dark bluish grey brick today be the
exact same shade the same brick had 20 years ago or more? I know there are different
types of shades for colours like blue or grey, but a brick listed as being dark
bluish grey today and one listed as being dark bluish grey in the 90s or 2000s
are the exact same brick, right?

| Earlier today someone ordered a pair of violet hips and legs. Without paying
much attention, I reached into the appropriate drawer and pulled one out. In
the picture, the hips & legs on the right are correct violet. The hips on the
left are violet, but the legs are some weird color that looks approximately like
slate gray. As these are the spring loaded hips & legs, they all came out of
the 2003 NBA collectors sets, which means they are all now ~20 years old.

|
| Is this Transparent Neon Orange? This color was retired(?) at the end of 2021,
but the official renders for this part sure look like they use this color. Rebrickable
has the following note: “Bricklink and Brickowl inventory this as Trans-Orange
even though the part is Trans-Neon Orange.”
Two of these renders come directly from LEGO. This part is probably 47 marbled
with Transparent Brown. Most parts in this color appear slightly redder than
Transparent Orange parts in LEGO renders. The second render is an outline render.
That orange color is too red to be Transparent Orange.
The other photo is from a BrickOwl user. The part definitely looks like 47 here.
This part is included in the newest Harry Potter Gringotts Wizarding Bank set,
which would make this color current again.
