maybe a simple Poll would be something needed to see what the Community thinks
moving forward.
Poll:
Which option would you prefer as a gummy Solution
A) nothing, gummy Spam is Delicious!
B) require a Forum Pay-To-Play Positive Feedback, similar to the Seller
Requirement
C) require new users to be Verified by some Official Secondary means w/
Bricklink i.e. a payment processor.
D) ban Zero Feedback Members from posting URL Links in the Forum.
E) allow Zero Feedback Members Limited Forum Access that is visible to
Moderators Only and does not post publicly.
F) Restrict New Users from using the Forum Period, placing them in a 'Guest
User' mode until they actually buy/sell something. any questions they have
can be directed straight to either Admin's, Moderators or Veteran BL Members
who volunteer to answer Guest User Questions.
being fair, let's say leave poll open for 2 weeks...
to give occational forum readers a chance to participate, if they want too.

Is there a way to check if a member is active? This guy keeps showing up on my
list with things I want to buy, but the guy hasn’t been active for almost a year.
I’ve sent messages without replies. I don’t trust buying from him for fear of
sending money and not getting anything back.
Thanks in advance.

Author: | infinibrix | Posted: | Jan 25, 2024 04:24 | Subject: | Dupe Accounts to push Variant Merge Argument? | Viewed: | 332 times | Topic: | General | |
|
| I hope the admins are taking note only there are people here like myself that
have always followed the rules despite wanting and being denied a second account
for legitimate reasons (separate business from personal) and yet there are clearly
members here using second accounts to strengthen the voice of their own opinion
in the forum?
How is it possible that so many replies against the variant merge are from people
with barely any feedback yet they still appear to have the highest/most complex
level of understanding when it comes to variants?
Yes perhaps one or two of these never buy or sell and only use Bricklink as a
database reference in which case are they the best voices to be listening to
anyway given they don’t actually contribute to the core element of the site which
is to buy and sell Lego!
But let’s be honest having an opinion is one thing but using a second account
to voice that same opinion again is unhelpful spamming and so I hope admins will
investigate and merge these accounts!
Ultimately as far as peoples opinions go in general I understand the arguments
on both sides and to a degree sympathies but generally a lot of these arguments
seem to be along the lines that the merge is a bad idea because people will no
longer be able to easily distinguish the correct variant? Yet this appears to
be the exact intention, since Bricklink has already openly stated that they do
not particularly want members of its community (New or Old) being overly bogged
down and concerned with these variants. They essentially want them dismissed/forgotten
about! (Pretty much their own words)
With this in mind it really isn’t in Bricklinks best interest to put in place
any specific solution that only further prevents them breaking away from what
they are trying to break away from? Therefore in the end it can only be for individual
members who care about this stuff to either use the comments field or ask the
question!
The way I see it, this change is probably going to hinder maybe 1% of the community
whilst making things smoother and more efficient for 99% of the community. It’s
a no brainer from Bricklinks perspective!

| Hello,
It's been interesting seeing the various initiatives that LEGO's marketing
team have pursued since taking over the site (MOC shop, BDP program) etc.
The compliance work around taxation is also good to see.
However, I believe the majority of visitors to the site are here for the parts
marketplace, particularly the non-XP experience, and unfortunately it appears
that this has been left with zero allocation of developer time for feature enhancements,
just basic maintenance and bug fixes.
While I don't want to share exact numbers, I will say that by selling on
multiple platforms since before the takeover, we have observed a significant
and increasing decline in Bricklink's marketshare amongst part buyers, as
it's competition has continued to improve upon the core marketplace experience,
while the Bricklink team are distracted.
I'm sure that the marketing team has more ideas up their sleaves, but I hope
that they are also able to recognise the importance of improving upon the core
experience to protect their investment.
Thanks

| How in hades does this happen? What's more, none of the other pieces in
the set appear this damaged or have matching marks where they would have caused
the gouge. There are two of these in the same set (1x12) which is funny because
I believe one of my Hogwarts sets was missing 1-2 of these in the rafters

| I am looking at the ID card of a member. The member has been on site slightly
more than 3 years. Thus far, they have racked up 189 negatives and 152 neutrals.
Their selling privileges are still green/intact. There is some evidence (based
on contra-feedback from another member) that they may have been suspended at
some point. Did they not solve the reasons that triggered all those negatives,
or only the ones that got them suspended ?
Obviously the information is there for a buyer to see, but how many check FB

| As many of you know, I strongly disagreed with the significant disservice done
to the people who built this website's catalog with the haphazard and poorly-handled
anonymizing of catalog contributors around the time of the sale to the LEGO Group.
Yes, this is the Bluser issue. Yep, I'm speaking about it again . . . probably
because the site has repeatedly shown its contempt and disregard for the catalog
and its contributors (most recently with its poor handling of the variant issue).
So anyway, the anonymizing was so poorly handled that by performing a couple
of basic and simple Google searches I can tell you the full name of this member
and his home address:
https://www.bricklink.com/feedback.asp?u=bb257520
There are numerous other "anonymized" members on BrickLink for whom information
can be quite easily discovered, including full name, age, home address, telephone
number, relatives, etc., etc.
Screenshot this post if you want to keep it, because the site will probably delete
the post and ban me from the forum again for expressing myself.

| Hi,
While searching on internet, found out that some accessories (and very expensive)
are made by chinese, like plumes and shields. And as I know there is no like
a Lego logo on it so they can be easily copied.
Is there a way to authenticate them?
And another question: if this item can be easily copied, how can we check the
store selling authentic items?
Thanks!

Not a fan of dried flowers or fake flowers, so the logical thing to me is Lego

Just built 10313, 10311 and 10280 in that order, love the result.
The only minor criticism is that some connections were a little loose, however

How do they keep there "store" inventory accurate or listings? I am
assuming it works because of the frequency of the orders and other sellers mentioning

5? How are they making money?
Just curious if anyone has the answers.

| Looking for some advice.
I recently opened my store and have been making a few sales. Today I got a message
from Bricklink that they deleted some of my minifigures because they were incomplete.
The figures were stormtroopers that came with a shoulder pauldron and I listed
them as used and "no pauldron". BL told me that was incomplete and it
was taken down. The figure has all the other pieces but just no cloth pauldron.
How should I list this in my store? Do I have to break them up and part each
figure out (legs, torso, head, helmet)?
Any advice is appreciated.
Thank you

|
| Back in 2006, I bought a pair of sized Medium shirts from an artist named "Tomi"
as part of his PodBrix line. At the time he was known for making these LEGO
mini-sets of Apple products, events or commercials.
Here's a Wired article from 2006 showing off one of his creations:
https://www.wired.com/2005/02/steve-jobs-in-l/
From my observation, several of these mini sets have gone for thousands of dollars,
which is something I never expected. Back in '06, he also released these
t-shirts. They are a picture of Woz on the front in minifig form, and in his
hand was a 6502 processor clipped on by magnets so you could take it off and
wash the shirt.
I still have both of these. One was the shirt I wore. It's in used, but
not abused condition but the 6502 is lost. The other one is still in the original
shipping box, in it's shipping bag and has it's insert from Tomi.
There were only 300 of these made. Even though they are a fan-made item, considering
the value of the LEGO sets, I wonder if these t-shirts have any value? I've
tried to ask around on places like Reddit and no one has an idea of the price,
though people have agreed that at least the new shirt is probably desirable to
someone. People have also pointed me here, so that's why I'm asking
about it. Does anyone know what these are worth and what's the best way
to sell them at the best price? Thank you (and additional links below)!

|
| Has Bricklink ever considered having a sister site dedicated to vintage parts.
I know Lego is ever evolving and molds, parts, colours can be discontinued at
any time but maybe it’s a place dedicated to getting parts pre a specific era
where there has been substantial changes such as the place to get old brown and
grey colours perhaps? Pre mid 90’s parts or whatever?
It’s probably a dead in the water idea as I appreciate bricklink and most users
here will probably just want a one stop place for all their Lego needs but maybe
instead just a really scaled down vintage site for all those nerdy types that
want their variants along with those relevant parts of the catalog to remain
intact. Obviously people will still have to use the main site to buy the vast
majority of their Lego so really just a place for the hardcore vintage guys
That’s not me by the way, but with so many appearing to be concerned about some
of the upcoming changes and variant merges I’m just throwing ideas around and
causing trouble!
