I’m really digging the dual moulded boots on the M-tron fig.

In all I think it will be better than what we can currently see! The pink classic
space baby is going to be a hit for sure.

It’s going to be hard to find them after their release.
They are going to sell out fast.

Of course, when a few thousand copies of that land at BL, there may be a bit
of price competition that leaks in.

No doubt, Nita

But at 60% off retail and given the partout value, both in $ and notification-driven-traffic,
I think you'd be well within any worst case scenario margins.

Then again, just trying help those struggling at this game. If otherwise, I wouldn't
announce. It'd be nonsensical to do so.

Isn't Ontario in England?

Why would you prefer to buy locally in a shop which probably may not have what

It probably has more to with environmental reasons than corporate greed. Here
in New York, plastic shopping bags are banned outright and paper bags cost 5¢.

Does you Lego store do this?

On the way home, I thought about it and I should have said "sure I'll

Just bring your own bags. Just like grocery shopping. Cake and Eat it is LONG

You would think right.

Follow the money, big retail funds lobbyists to scream bags kill everything living
so that politicians make them charge you for them. No more giving away millions
of dollars of free plastic bags as industry standard. Good scam really.

Or they might have been given a refund and had to leave the store empty handed,
wasting whatever fuel / costs it took to get to the store.

In the UK the Government advice is that the fee for a bag is not a tax but any
money raised from the sale of bags should be donated to good causes. Most big
companies declare on their websites how they much they move on to good causes.
e.g. Sainsburys have sent £8 to good causes from bag sales.

I imagine that is £8m!

Very true, I considered it, but consumerism got the best of me. So, in the long

Does you Lego store do this?

Sorry.  I was trying for a bit of levity but from your reaction I get it’s a

My local store isn't allowed to dispense plastic bags due to a city ordinance
I believe. Ironic I think for a plastic toy company. Anyway, they now have these
really sturdy paper ones I kinda like. They stand up on their own and are good
for holding spare shipping supplies. They have certainly brightened up my storage
room.
When I purchased a couple big sets on June 1, they still had them in the brown
shipping cartons and attached some sturdy tape handles right to the box. It worked
really well!

I don't mind that plastic bags are disappearing or even that I have to pay
for a shopping bag now and then. It helps offset the climate guilt I have for
my polybag habit.

In the Netherlands shops are not aloud to give free plastic bags. Next month
1 Juli also restaurants have to charge money for plastic food packages for take
away. Plastic straws are forbidden they have paper straws now packed in a little
plastic bag on drinking cartons.

Over here in Canada we’ve been paying for plastic bags for years now but most
stores don’t even have those and if you want a bag you have to buy a reusable
one for several dollars are a paper one that will either cut you or rip while
walking to your vehicle. The plastic bags were the best. They would fit in any
garbage can perfectly but now the supply is gone so if more are needed I have
to buy plastic bags on Amazon…. What a world

How difficult would it be to add a condition, "with damage" to the BrickLink
store inventory system?

If it was clearly shown on used lots for sale, perhaps people would be more willing
to buy it.

We just need an image that appears next to the part that is big enough for everyone
to notice immediately, and is immediately recognizable as meaning the lot has
damage on it.

Ideally, there should be an extra safeguard that appears before checkout is finalized,
stating that there are used lots in the buyer's cart, and that they should
read and understand each description properly before proceeding. I don't
know how practical it would be, but if it's short and to the point, they
might be more willing to read it.

Just my 2c worth ...

Cheers ...

That's a good point, might be worth it just for the draw.

FWIW, I've found some people look exclusively for damaged figs. I've
sold a lot of them, indicating the damage as best as possible whenever possible.
Only complaint I've received on a damaged fig was one where I identified
the crack, but didn't mention other markings. Listing some of those used
figs really low will bring people to the store too!

These are all sub 10 USD figures, and I have a personal issue of selling something
I would not buy. I think the school next door is going to get some clean, used
Lego when summer break is over.

cant blame you there but if you ever got more into selling used you'd see
that its not really possible to never list the damaged parts as damaged otherwise
one would never break even

I just tried my hand at buying used IRL and selling it here.

I must say, I did not realize how much work is involved in obtaining, cleaning,
sorting out junk, assembling minifigures from piles of parts, checking parts
for any damage (old minifigures are some of the worst for hiding cracks, got
to get the light and magnifier just so!) It was so disappointing to see an otherwise
perfect minifigure, cracked.

I respect all of those who sell used who may do this even part-time. Thank you
for making it possible to get period parts for old sets. So, here's to you
all who like doing it. Well done, you all rock.

Needless to say, even though I did find some treasure, I don't think I'll
be doing it again soon and I still have about 20lbs of bulk to go through.

-- John

Thank you! For my part, I really appreciate that recognition. It took me nearly
3 years to buy, sort, double-check, and list over 1,500 pounds of bulk, over
2,500 minifigures, and over 1,000 instruction books. It was the single biggest
thing I've ever accomplished in my life and continues to be a huge amount
of work as my full-time job. (And to be clear, it wouldn't have been possible
without my partner supporting us and believing in me the whole time.) But I'm
so glad I did! I love sending buyers exactly what they need. This is the best
job I could've imagined... not to mention a fantastic conversation starter
at social events
