Sorry to hear that, hopefully you can reconstruct it from memory. Here are a
couple of help links for custom invoice templates:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=661

Hope that helps.

Thanks, I think I have it sorted out for now.

Hi, looks like my auto invoice is broken.

Did the blabber at the beginning of an invoice that Bricklink put in (hidden
until you send the invoice) is gone. I reset the default and it's still
gone. That broke my auto invoices for orders that are not instant checkout.

Did that get changed? That's an awful big change with no notice!!

If I'm missing something please inform me so I can fix it.

Thanks

Wow, this is great.
Thank you to everyone that has left a comment here. Please know that I am reading
all of them and making a list to take to the meeting.

Keep leaving as much as you feel needs to be worked on, all will be shared at
the meeting.
Thank you so much

thoughts towards you and the group while out)

Kinda feel out of touch in reading "MORE than disappointed?" as I'm
not disappointed in the least with BL, nor have I been in some time. But I'm
sure there are as you say, things new that would be helpful, which I look forward
to reading here, when I get the chance.

"I know they are many?" I actually haven't any annoyances, not with
how BL currently operates. Could things be yet better? Of course, as is it with
all things including ourselves. There's always room for improvement.

-Have some fun and thanks.

A lot. I want a lot of stuff. I do agree with items others have mentioned to
reduce confusion within the website, but am going to take a different angle here.

I'll try to keep the list short and focus mostly on increasing what Buyers
want cause it falls in line with what sellers want, which is increased sales,
increased traffic, and increased daily excitement putting together Lego orders
for other lovers of Lego. I can't tell you the joy I receive every time someone
visits my store and then the additional joy of seeing an order that I can go
pack up and fulfill.

1) I want buyers to know that BrickLink exists so more of them come here vs going
to Amazon. I don't have the answers on how you advertise but I can't
say I've ever seen any either. Put it this way, there is not 1 person in
my life that I have discussed Lego with that has ever heard of BL prior to me
introducing them to it. We are not talking about a few people, this is hundreds
of friends and family. They all have children, nearly all those children love
building Lego, nearly all those children receive at least 1 Lego set for Xmas/birthdays...
yet none know where to purchase Lego beyond Amazon, Walmart, or Target. What
really hurts though is many of them really dislike the invoice system, see #2
below as they want to shop, checkout and then see their purchase in their mailbox.
They don't want delays in-between.

2) For Domestic Orders as I think this should be possible for every country but
I am not sure entirely - I want every store to be required to have Instant Checkout
for every order cause I am growing tired of seeing the posts about X seller is
now charging this, or personally when I see X seller charging Retail shipping
vs Commercial... every store can keep their terms on costs but each store should
be fully capable of figuring out what works for them to provide instant checkout
with shipping costs built in too at various levels. It isn't difficult to
know our own inventory and know how much shipping would approximately cost for
domestic orders and if a seller gets burned a little, like many of us have, we
learn from it and move on.

3) along with #2 as I don't see that happening, then stores that are 100%
instant checkout from a buyers perspective, should be highlighted for them so
a buyer knows that they can fully checkout and bypass having to wait for invoices
etc... we should be adapting to what buyers want vs buyers having to adapt to
what each seller wants. I want to buy things from other sellers too, but as
an example, am SOOOO tired of being quoted Retail shipping when I know they are
paying commercial. I decline every single quote or request for shipping cost
when I know it is much higher than what I know they would actually be paying
especially when I ship orders every day and have the capacity to look up what
actual shipping would be from Point A to Point B. Some terms specifically say
"retail" which is fine, I just avoid them, but many are not clear enough.

Maybe this list is too strong and maybe too difficult and some sellers would
be turned off by these ideas. I have no doubt that many sellers would dislike
having to implement the above, however, for the betterment of the site, I think
it would do wonders to really help streamline Bricklink to be more what buyers
want to retain them and gain new customers for everyone, and add in a little
advertising and this could really become the 1st place customers go to get their
Lego.

Thanks

Thank you! The shipping API is one I had brought up in previous meeting, but

Here's a few ideas, in order of importance:
1. USA Shipping zones for Instant checkout (connected to the USPS API). This
one is stupidly simple, and should have been implemented 5 years ago now when
Instant Checkout was rolled out (5 years already! Wow!)
2. Part/set sales analytics. If I know what's most popular for me, it helps
me better serve my buyers.
3. Instructions/Boxes check boxes when listing sets. Check a box if the set has
instructions, and that is automatically part of the listing.
This one has two benefits:
Buyers can easily sort for used sets that have the instructions/box (similar
to how we can filter on New/Used condition.
And secondly, instant checkout can factor this in when calculating shipping.
How, you ask?
If the checkbox for if the set includes the Box is not checked, that Instant
Checkout can remove the weight of the LEGO Box (we have that in the set inventory,
after all!) from the total order weight. This helps out both buyers and sellers,
by creating more accurate Instant Checkout invoices.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me!

Thanks for reaching out. While I understand why a new site is necessary, just
the thought of how much we may lose in the process makes me depressed.

Anyway, here are my suggestions:

Fix wording on Onsite payment required 'Seller does not support shipping...'
so people can actually figure out what is going wrong.

Move Request a Quote to the beginning of the transaction, and clean up the misleading
wording on every step of the checkout process.

Clean out the 'Shared Shipping Methods' and stop giving new sellers the
impression that they can just pick one of those outdated methods and have their
shop magically charge the right price for postage.

Fix the permanent 'Completed' Order Status if a seller mistakenly sets
it.

Fix the phantom order/payment issue that's been reported. (I just had one
this week: payment but no order.)

Find a way for us to submit sales tax payments when a buyer can't or won't
use the Onsite payments.

Requested Quotes should trigger the same yellow number notification icon that
messages do so we don't miss them.

Only make site changes during BrickLink office work hours to reduce overnight
and weekend downtime that adversely affects European sellers.

Respond more to issues in the Forum or create a place where members can track
known issues.

Yep! There's more but you only have so much time I would guess.

Thanks,
Jen

Wow, this is great. Thank you!

I'd like to optimize shipping by making it easy for buyers to know and to
encourage them to fill up more product without crossing over into the next price
class. For example, someone orders 1 oz of product, but I can ship for nearly
the same up to 1 pound. Tell the buyer automatically upon order completion how
much they have left, or maybe give them a % off incentive to add more to the
order. Win-win for buyer and seller.

Yes, I have had a few buyers try this trick to get me to send the order out without
checking if the payment was actually made. After a few invoices and notices
to pay, I end up having to cancel the order and move on.

If the buyer use the link in the order detail, the email after is automatic.
You also receive an email if the payment is done inside Paypal directly.
I recommand asking the buyer if any payment has been made. If not, you can change
the order status yourself and send the invoice to the buyer.

I did not have to send an invoice to the buyer.

You mean, it wasn't treated by Auto Checkout?

If not, then the buyer is free to click on the "Paid" check box any time
- paid or not.

Some of other languages may understand they have to click this for being able
to pay, I've talked to a few of them...

There is a seller on bricklink that asks for this kind of price reduction all
the time. I found that she was a reseller on Amazon and is always looking for
a discount on a set you have that she has already sold. I won't allow her
to buy from my store anymore because of her insistence that I offer a discount
plus shipping.

After I blocked her from buying from my store she accused me of hurting small
children who she buys sets for for Christmas and birthdays. She has changed
her username several times to try and get around being blocked. Because she always
asks for the same kind of discount I know who it is. I believe she lives in New
Jersey.

The probable reason why you got two messages about the same set to two separate
zip codes is because she can't keep her messages straight. She's probably
selling things so fast and wanting to get them shipped to the buyer so quickly
that she made a mistake and sent you two messages about the same set.

If this is the seller I'm talking about you should be cautious in dealing
with her.

Just my observation and opinion.
Donna

  Hello!

This post isn't to ask for help, but just to see if anyone else has experienced
this and/or knows why this might have happened.

I got two nearly identical messages from a user who wanted to see if they could
buy a set for less than what I had it listed for. Both messages were sent at
the same exact time. They asked for a flat price including shipping costs, and
it was the same price in both messages they sent to me. The odd thing about the
messages though was that for one message they wanted me to ship to one zip code,
and in the other message they wanted me to ship to a totally different zip code
(at least 1200 miles (2000 km) away from the previous zip code).

As I thought the price I had listed the set for was reasonable, I politely declined
their offer. I have not heard anything back from them so far.

Any insight would be appreciated, and feel free to ask questions if you need
more info.

Thanks,

Alizarin

Cool. Whenever I see this kind of stuff, I remind myself that they will mine
the data info to possibly sell.

I see it less likely from TLC. They will probably use it more in house to produce
future products.

I have a background in the printing industry. Manufacturers will print white
first on a dark part so the red, which has a transparent property, doesn't
get lost on a dark color. You can see this with the pockets that are printed
on the upper part of the legs. There is no white printing underneath and the
color gets lost.

The black that is printed around the design is used to keep any white ink that
is printed first from showing around the red design. It is very common in t-shirt
printing when the shirt is a dark color.

I've known that TLG printed this way, but this is interesting to actually
see the results so close up.

I came upon the news article of this town before the war started. Can anybody
update me on what happened to that part of Kviv?

You don't have to pay the BL fee if you cancel the "order" of the buyer who
disappeared. Canceling the order will give you a credit on your BL Fees account.
If the fee amount is the same as the BL fee you didn't pay, it will zero
out your BL fee account and you will be back in compliance.

I don't know where to go from there. If they don't reinstate you store
right away you will have to try the help desk again or contact Admin-Russell
for help.

And, oh, If you already paid the BL fee you can still cancel the order and get
that credited back on your account.
I hope this helps.

the transaction would still happen and I didn't cancel it right away. Then
BL sent me an invoice for this non-existent transaction. I contacted Help twice
and never heard anything back. Now they have suspended my store.

I cannot check on the previous help tickets because it tells me to log in (although
I am already logged in in another window) and then it says my password is wrong.
I have updated my password and now it says the new password is wrong. If I click
"forgot password" it says there is no user with my username or email. The site
is broken. There must be a way to resolve this issue besides paying an unearned
invoice to satisfy the system. All indication is I'll never get the money
back since I have had no response at all from BL for a month.

Has anyone been through this?

Thanks

Now all the states will go the same route.

I moved to PirateShip just before PP went to Shipstation. So glad I did. I
love it, the prices are great, you can choose from USPS and UPS (without a UPS
account) You can also use USPS Flat rates and Regional rates. You can get insurance
for international first class package, it uses Shipsurance.

The main reason I moved was because PP was allowing USPS to lock down my label
making ability when the new USPS scanner said I didn't pay enough on a package.
The problem was my 2oz package was on top of a 3lb box. They do take a picture
of the offending scan and it's always their mistake. I had to pay the upcharge
fee to USPS to allow me to make labels again. I then had to dispute the charge
to USPS to get my money back. The dispute process is long, complicated and can
take up to 2 months. Someone here told me to try PirateShip.

Now when the USPS screws up and says I owe more money on a 2oz package, I get
a notice from PirateShip about it and a link to dispute it. It was cleared in
2 weeks. I'm not going back to PP.

PirateShip allows for import of addresses from Ebay, Etsy, and a bunch of others,
but not BL yet. The copy/paste is easy. Copy the entire address from PP and
paste into a large box at the top and PS fills in all the info automatically.
You can make a preset package size and weight if you use the same packaging
most of the time. You can create a preset return address also.

It's free, try it and see if it will work for you.

There is always a slump in the spring. With the warmer weather people go outside

I investigate something wrong with my shop?
Of course the economic/energy/inflation problems might explain it; still I wonder
if it's a trend others notice as well.

First a few facts: Out of the 75 total parts in the order, there were 43 total
items of these colors, 20 new, 23 used. 33 were Reddish Brown and 10 were Dark
Red. He says 32 of the 43 were brittle. It was a mix of 2x4 bricks and various
sizes of 2xn plates. I don't ever stack new parts, so I can't really
test them. I do stack used parts, but unstack them before I ship. I have had
brittle used parts break when I unstack them with my fingers.

He chose my offer to replace them, with the info that I can only do this once.
He told me he found the brittle ones when he used the brick separator to take
them apart (he put them together). When I pulled the replacement parts I put
them together and pulled them apart, similar to what he did. Of the 32 replacements
I found only 4 to be brittle. It took a LOT of force with the separator to break
them.

I am irritated with this situation. One, because of the high number of parts
he is telling me broke. I have never had that many parts break on me in the 19
years of buying and selling here. Two, because it is costing me more than the
order total to ship the replacements.

I have shipped the replacements regardless, it's built into my prices. I
always try to make it right.

What have you done in these situations? What is your experience with brittle
bricks? Are these brittle ones only from the 2004-2008 era? I don't think
I have anything new from that time still.

Thanks for your input,
Donna

brittle piece) and can often find out pretty easy if they are brittle without
even having to break the item by feeing it’s resistance to it. I recently listed
a whole bunch of larger reddish brown plates and with the “wiggle” test almost
half of them broke and I had to throw them out but it does seam to work

I have not been able to access it since ~1:00pm EST today (that is when I first
tried). It is making my job harder because I have to go directly to LEGO.com
and download instruction manuals to verify all sorts of things.

I just had a thought...Could it be a host problem because of the war in Ukraine?

Brickset's WHOIS entry gives no indication that its servers are located in
Russia or Ukraine. It seems to be a garden-variety outage. Brickset's Twitter
says they are aware of the issue and working to fix it.

Thanks for the info. I'm kind of surprised that no one here posted about
this before now...anyway I hope it turns out well for them.

For those who have been here since Dan......been there, done that.

Is this the help page you are referring to?

Ok, no, but that needs to be, at the least, linked to the NSS page I read here:

Looking at how I got to the NSS page there is a link for that link.

the Help Center page so both users know what to do when the problem is resolved.

Who is in charge of the Help Center pages? I don't see an admin for that.

Anyway, maybe the person who does the changes will see this and get it done.
Feel free to contact me about this.

Thanks,
Donna

I have over 1000 pounds of Lego to list. I am confused by some terminology in

to charge additional fees for a large group of unrelated parts? Any suggestions
for making this enormous task any easier? Do pulled sets sell any better than
just pieces? Are all pieces expected to be washed and cleaned? I have about 25
pounds of sealed bags (new parts), but once you open the bags, handle the parts,
and then put them into the appropriate storage place, they will get slightly
scratched/scuffed. Is this expected, or is there a solution for this?

Sorry for so many questions, but with this many parts, I need to get as much
right as possible the first time around!

Adding used parts using the BL "Add Item" page is not your friend. Go to github.com
and search for "BrickStore". Download and install the app.

This app allows you to create a list of mix lots that then generates an .XML
file. That file can then be used on this page, https://www.bricklink.com/invXML.asp
, to upload many lots at one time. It's easy to use, but if you have trouble
look up "how to" videos on youtube.

Animal, Accessory (300 items in 1 lot), Animal, Air (750 items in 4 lots) show
up fine. Then, Animal, Body Part, Decorated (625 items in 3 lots) won't show

  Hello!
I got a message from a buyer today saying that their package was "squished" by
shipping machines and the part (a lego head) they ordered must have fallen out.
I'm giving them a full refund, but I'm wondering if it's me or
USPS that's at fault here, and if USPS is, if there's any way to get
a refund from them (I didn't insure it since it was just $6 total, but if
their equipment was responsible, that's on them, right?). I shipped via USPS
first class "large envelope", since my package was between 1/4" and 3/4" thick.

You can't use the large envelope option as others have said. There is an
option for a rigid object in an envelope that is non-machinable.

I've used this option a few times for things that are under one quarter of
an inch in width. I enclose the skinny part, like maybe a belt, between a folded
piece of light cardboard that is almost as big as the envelope. Then tape the
edges together making the cardboard taper out from the middle. USPS has a yellow
butterfly stamp, non-machinable rate, that I use to post it. I also have a rubber
stamp that stamps it "non-machinable" because I've had these go through the
machine and get wrecked.

The post office won't do anything about it unless you paid to insure it.
I once saw a comment by a seller to a postal worker. The seller hands the package
to the postal worker to be mailed. The postal worker figures out the postage
due and asks the seller if they want to buy insurance. The seller says "why would
I buy insurance?" The postal worker says "to make sure it gets there." The seller
says "why do I have to pay extra for you to just do your job correctly". *eyes

Although the options on the Orders Received page are unlimited automatic widening
based on the options picked, the Order Details Page and the Inventory Summary
page are fixed. Please see the attached photos.

On the Order Details page, the text of the item description wraps to create many
lines and causes printing of the page to run up the number of pages needed to
print. I have tried several settings in my browser to get the frame to widen,
but have been unsuccessful when it comes to the lengthy descriptions like those
shown in my photo.

Related to this: When the "Refund" change was made to this page and caused many
users to have a problem printing this page, I too had problems. When it was
"fixed", it didn't get fixed for me. I reached out to others for a solution,
but I couldn't find something that helped.

On the Inventory Details page, the text also wraps causing Category names to
become difficult to read and lengthening the page.

I am using the Chrome browser on a Win 10 laptop with 16:9 aspect ratio.

This is driving me nuts.

Please consider making these small changes.

To other users: Please comment and support if you are also having the same problem.

Thank You
Donna

Short expiration dates are no longer legal. In fact, "a gift card cannot expire
until at least five years from the date it was activated" is what the law says.

But yeah, good point. What I tried to publicly sidestep with "larger motivations"
and going to "questions surrounding funding" where the funds might be held

Though I do wonder if issued, what BrickLink's numbers might be? Analogous
to LEGO's? Higher, lower?

I'm thinking about getting the 25-wide version in 6 tiers or 2 x 3 tiers
for my Star Wars collection.

I have some of their other products such as the base for the Old Trafford Stadium
and a couple of smaller mounts for displaying Star Wars ships and the quality
of the product itself is not in doubt.

My concerns however with the minifigure displays specifically are:

1) Might the shelves sag over time, especially on the very wide versions?

2) How easy/difficult is it to remove the front? It looks like it's held
in by small screws so I have visions of the corners breaking when trying to fit/remove
it especially when it's wall mounted. Or perhaps it's easier/better
to take it off the wall before trying to remove the front?

Thanks,
Steve

If you look closely at the pictures, you can clearly see the shelves bowing.
That would be a problem for me. Maybe stick to the shorter widths.

Frustration noted, but it doesn't bring you into a better environment....

Actually, we make it possible to have these people paid to come up with these
schemes....
They are funded by OUR taxes, so indirectly when we stop paying taxes, these
people are no longer being paid for there brained scheme productions. However,
it takes about 55 steps in the system to get from your tax payments to these
people.

All these systems worldwide are broken or at the verge of breaking. As long as
we abide by these insane rules, insane schemes and insane solutions, these insane
systems will be held in place.

One lingering question. A seller putting bl's gb vat id on a cn232b is open
to problems,, especially as you now have to put the business name and address
details on the cn22. To me that is not sensible and very much open to fraud.
How does the system deal with that, if it does at all?
When we bring back understanding and logic that operates on a higher level and
not different logic for every lower level, we will gradually begin to see a change
for the better.

I am not, in any way, fully understanding this system. But from listening to
others, the IOSS system is used to report the paid VAT to a database that can
be used by the receiving country to see if the VAT was paid on the sending side
of the transaction.

Maybe you can look that up and see if that is true.

a claim if O\I do not get it by friday."

And when you check his feedback you see that he has a long list of negative feedbacks
and is described as "1 of the worst buyers and sellers on Bricklink", "Compulsive
liar.", "very rude" (multiple times), "Lowsy Buyer", "100% unreasonable buyer"
and "Crazy Swindler" among other things.

Strange that it is only when a buyer has this attitude that packages gets lost.
Thankfully most buyers are nice, honest and decent people. When a buyer is patient
and understanding over a delayed shipment, it always shows up sooner or later.
But when the buyers starts to send threats after two weeks, it is a near 100%
guaranty that the package will be lost, or rather: "lost"

And yes, I know that some will respond with "always send with tracking", but
that is too expensive here for low value shipments, and I do not want to punish
all the honest buyers for the actions of the very few dishonest ones.

This was just a small order, so no real consequents, but this will end in a negative
feedback, completed Paypal claim, and the buyer gets away with theft. And he
will continue to do the same to other sellers.

Regards,
Helge

Been thinking, you should actually write to him exactly what you wrote here.
Tell him he's a fraud and that you got him figured out. Tell him he will
open a claim for NR with Paypal but that you have already informed Paypal, and
actually call them and tell them in advance he is going to file a claim. Just
call him out, what more do you have to lose? Just try and make it as difficult
possible for him. Inform BL and report him, get his account closed. Call the
courier and recall the package if possible. This guy seems to keep making victims
and BL has a responsibility here. Maybe name and shame on the forum so everyone
can stop list him. Etc etc.

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=126

When feedback is posted and received it's easy to figure out who it is.

It's true you can figure it out. The terms of use of the forum do not include
sharing a username. I'd be interested in knowing the username of this "buyer".

more than the cost of the order itself and you will lose if there is no tracking

Correct.

Only thing I can suggest is to tell the buyer that if a claim is filed, call
PayPal and ask them to look at the buyer's account. If the buyer has a high
number of claims versus purchases you might get lucky. Based on the buyer feedback
you quoted, it sounds like they do this often.

I actually did that once, though not with the exact same situation. They came
back to me within minutes as agreed that it was a scam, that the person had done
the same to others, and that they now had closed his account so that he could
not make more payments. But when I asked if they would stop the payment reversal,
they said "No, we will complete the refund. But you may ask him to resend the
payment afterwards"...

How is the buyer going to resend the payment after PayPal closes their account?
Doesn't make sense.

  Dear BrickLink Members,

When BrickLink was acquired by the LEGO Group in 2019, we did so with the vision
to get closer to our committed adult fans, and over the past two years, we’ve
invested greatly in supporting and developing BrickLink to better deliver on
your needs.

At the same time, we have seen a significant increase in the LEGO Group’s adult
audience, and we want to build strong, direct relationships with them. Given
BrickLink’s increasingly important role in being a voice for the AFOL community,
we see a need to bring BrickLink closer to the LEGO Group and ensure that their
valuable insights can influence the LEGO Group’s full adult strategy.

As part of the journey to bring BrickLink closer, Marvin Park, formally Vice
President of BrickLink, will become an external advisor, supporting us with his
experience and knowledge about BrickLink.

I would like to warmly thank Marvin for his contribution to BrickLink and the
LEGO Group. Marvin has brought forward a number of strong initiatives that have
been instrumental in shaping BrickLink and developing it to where it is today.
Since the acquisition, he has been dedicated to connecting BrickLink and the
LEGO Group together, while staying focused on creating value for the fans and
the LEGO Group.

The role as Head of BrickLink will be taken on by Casper Thingholm. Casper is
well-positioned to step into this role as he has been intimately involved with
BrickLink over the last two years. This, combined with his solid LEGO leadership
experience and his passion for the fan community, makes me confident that he
will lead the future integration in a smooth and seamless way and enable the
LEGO Group to strongly support BrickLink’s development.

With this change, we will foster closer collaboration, become even better at
developing products that will benefit BrickLink users, and strengthen the voice
of the community towards the LEGO Group.

In this transition and in the future, we are as committed as ever to serving
the AFOL community. Creating value for the BrickLink community and ensuring that
we are meeting their needs will continue to be our top priority and we look forward
to doing even more of that with this change.

Best wishes,
Julia Goldin
Chief Product & Marketing Officer at the LEGO Group

Thank you. I look forward to seeing the changes that will be made from this decision.

I came across this while listing pieces today. Why are these items being removed
from the catalog?

Thanks!

Andreas

Because they are damaged parts. Leg and hip assemblies are more fragile than
torso assemblies. Arms and hands can be removed and reused on other torsos. When
legs are removed from hips, the little blob that holds the legs tight gets damaged.
The legs are then very loose. It also adds another three parts to the catalogue
for every printed leg/hip assembly, and those parts rarely sell.

How do you know they rarely sell? They've never been available for purchase
and the few that did make it is not a big enough sample to know that they don't
sell. I have some that I would like to list and I was hoping that it would continue
but now it's gone again. I have some that I would like to buy but they're
not available. I disagree with the idea that they're broken once they're
taken apart. I've broken just as many arms on torsos taking them apart. I've
put legs back together and they weren't wobbly. That's ridiculous. Adding
three more parts to the catalog? Torsos add 4. I don't see the difference.

For the past two days I have had an adjustment to my account for two packages.
I try to protect from this by going to the counter to get an acceptance scan
with the weight on the receipt.

However, one of these APV "corrections" was for Package Type, from: Envelope,
Padded Envelope, Poly Bag, Soft Pack, or Box in a Bag to: USPS Priority Mail
Flat Rate Envelope. I do not use USPS flat rate envelopes since they are rarely
worth it. I've disputed the adjustment and the dispute is pending.

Just curious how successful others have been at disputing these changes and what
strategy have you used to be successful. I am tempted to take a picture of each
package I mail on my scale, however, there is no way on the dispute form to submit
your own image, so this may be pointless.

I am going to talk with my postmaster on Monday when I drop off the weekend orders
and I will report back on what he says.

-- John

More than likely there's nothing wrong with your package or your shipping
cost. What is happening is the post office has a new type of scanner that they
run all of the packages over. If someone else's package is on the scanner
at the same time yours is and yours is on top then you get charged for not having
enough postage and the wrong packaging. The penalty for not putting enough postage
on the package is that you have to pay the priority mail flat rate fee. So you
get charged the difference between what you paid and the priority mail cost.

The only way to dispute it is through the post office with an email. They require
some different information. If you ask your postmaster to look up the photograph
from the scanner it will show your package on top of another one and that can
prove that your package was done correctly.

The biggest problem is it can take up to a month for the post office to give
you your money back or remove the block that says you owe the money. Have they
blocked you from making labels through your PayPal account? Are they demanding
you pay fee before you can make any more labels? That's what they were doing
to me. I switched to pirateship.com and haven't had a problem since. But
I switched because I heard they have good customer service as the previous poster
had post in there comment on your situation, and they do.

It all has to do with the new scanner they've put in place. The lighter packages
get scanned with a heavier package they don't bother to look and see why
your package weighed so much and you have to pay the price.

It's horrible and they shouldn't be allowed to punish you or require
you to pay a fee before you can get back to business. There was talk on eBay
forums about a class action suit but I've never seen anything materialized
from that.

It was being a little janky for me earlier this week. I couldn't get an international

(?) despite being a fraction of the price threshold they were warning me about.
Then for a few hours the next day it wasn't letting the page load on three

I use PirateShip.com as a backup and everything went through there okay at more
or less the same rates as shipstation.

Yep, I switched to pirateship.com also. Works great for me. Also they have awesome
customer service.

Using Chrome on a Win10 pc, I see the main banner at the top but no contents

Anyone else seeing this?

Thanks

Wow, what a find. How did you get the seller to hang on to this lot until you
could get there?

I would have snagged it too, but here in the US after an hour they be like:
Yeah, that guy never showed up!

Maybe you paid before you left to get it?

Great find though! I have a few figs I've been hanging on to for about 20
yrs now . Probably going to fund my retirement

Thanks for sharing, it's just satisfying to see that many figs, all the same,

them for stupidly inflated prices. These kinds of people do NOT love Lego.
They are filth and anyone reselling one of these sets should be immediately banned
from this site as punishment. Not just for this set, but because they do it
with every set, creating false scarcity to drive up the price. Once again, these
people should not be allowed on a site for people you love Lego, because they
don't, they love money. Let them trade stocks like the rest of the parasites

While I agree with your rant, there are things you can do to get a better chance
at getting a highly (possibly) sought after set.

1. Find out when the first day the set will be released.
2. Log into Lego.com at midnight, EST (because that is the time that the set
will be released) and order the set.

This is what I have done for several popular sets over the last few years. I
did it for this set and was able to get 2, the limit for this set to the same
address. I purposely buy this kind of set for myself only. I hate the scalpers
too and I don't want to be one. I want my behavior to reflect my belief
that everyone should have a chance to get a set they are looking for. When buying
clearance sets to resell or part out, I will always leave a couple for someone
else. Sometimes I don't buy any until I see them still on the shelf for several
days.

It sucks, but you have to hope you can get one on release. I missed a few sets
that I wanted and I found them at retail just before EOL. After EOL the price
just goes up again. The worst times to buy a popular release is from a scalper
at first release or after EOL. Some sellers will choose those two times to sell
their popular sets.

I hope this helps you to try and get something else you really want on release
from Lego.com.

WOW! That's quite a rant, not sure I would've put it quite that way,
but I absolutely do see your point. We've missed out on a few sets for exactly
this reason, it's ridiculous to see sets sold out within minutes. Lego should
put strict buying limits in place just for this reason. Something like one per
address, at least for the first couple of weeks of release date to give everyone
chance.

They did have a limit of 2 per address.

Ok, here is what my PO told me.

The bar code on the side of the box is keyed to what type of postage you have
to pay. So I can't put a Regular Priority on a Regional Rate box (even if
you cover the Regional Rate label) or it will be returned to me and I will have
to pay more.

I cut down priority boxes or put two together all the time with no problems.
I cut one down for the set I was shipping today and they said that was fine
as long as the label paid matches the type of box you're using.

Weird thing was that the rate for Regional Rate was $2 MORE than the cut down
Regular Rate. Oh well, who knows.

Thanks for all the comments and help. I got one of the wreaths too.

I've never done it - maybe turn the box inside out? It should say "use for
priority mail" all over the inside but not a specific rate, so maybe you can
put a Priority Mail Cubic label on it?

Yeah, I'm gonna just ask the post office guys. I let you know what I find

You should try.
My experience recently, in trying to get a replacement for a broken part, started
out not so good, but ended well. First they sent me an email claiming I did
not pass verification, which seemed a bit ridiculous since I had purchased the
set direct from LEGO and it could easily be verified. I suspected that they
found I had a bricklink account (although I have never been a seller) and thought
I was going to sell the part (it is not a cheap or abundant part). I replied
asking what verification I had failed, and asked why they did not trust me. Then
they sent me the part right away, for a part that was showing as being on backorder
for replacement, with every set containing the part being on backorder.

Thanks, I'll give it a try.

I fully agree that we need Inventory tracking tools. I personally have not had
problems with my inventory on this site. But, I believe it would help any sellers
that are finding discrepancies to troubleshoot and correct problems. If the problems
were or weren't caused by BL, or some site time-out, or some third-party
software... if we had these tools, we would know. Right now, all we can do is
blame ourselves or blame BL.

Jen

Agreed. I check my inventory on the items that are purchased at the picking
of the order, for both new and used items. I find a lot of small discrepancies
almost everyday. But this one was really egregious. Makes me wonder how much
of my physical items are not for sale. I don't have the time to do a complete
inventory count.

Sometimes, with the used parts, I will upload a few less items in a lot. So if
my count is off or I find something with more damage not fit to sell, I have
got it covered.

With the new parts, I have sets waiting to be parted out and can pull from that
if I'm short something. Luckily this doesn't happen very often.

Thanks for your comments,
Donna

Of course I have no idea if those all use similar functionality so I could be
way off base here.

I highly doubt this, as I have used the upload in the past with no issues. Having
said that, I used the upload in a very special way to avoid problems ... for
any item that I already had listed, and was about to add inventory, I would first
delete the old lot (via an upload) and then add a new lot with the new quantity.
I did not allow the BL upload to add 1 + 1.

The other issue I wonder about has to do with pending orders ... what happens
if you do an upload against a lot that involves a pending order ? The way I was
doing it (delete then add) would certainly protect against pending orders (because
the old lot # would be deleted).

The XML file for the various deletes allows the seller to visually inspect that
all the lots intended to be deleted are matching to the quantities on the system.

There have a been a few thoughts of mine where the error occurs.

1. Brickstock. At first the complaints were all from users that used Brickstock.
However, I have since seen users that use Brickstock say they don't have
problems while others that don't use brickstock have been having similar
issues.

2. Part-out feature. I personally never use the part-out feature but I know most
sellers do. However, with your case it does not sound like you used that feature
with these error listings.

I use the BL set part out for new sets only. These items are used.

I don't use BrickStore to update my prices.

At first I thought these complaints were just from people with poor inventory
management who were trying to point the blame at BL as I have never had any issues.
But there have been so many over the past year and from reputable sellers too
that it something does seem to be messed up. Though I personally have not been
able to figure out with my little knowledge as to what is causing the error and
why some people get it and some don't.

But I do agree with you 200% that we need inventory tracking. It would seriously
help both sellers and BL owners know what the issue it.

Thanks for your thoughts and agreement,
Donna

The first pic is the tub of items I "thought" I had listed in my store. The

The third pic is items I "thought" were already for sale...NONE of them were

Why is BL loosing my inventory and I have no way to see why it is happening.
This is serious for me and everyone should be concerned too. WE NEED INVENTORY

It must be some error with how only a portion of sellers list as I never have
any problems that can't be traced back to human error.

Perhaps it's with file uploading?

I appreciate what you are saying. I always check the file on upload.

Last month I sold a minifig (the only item in the order) that I couldn't
find. I found the file where I had uploaded it and could only think that it
had already sold. I had to inform the buyer that I couldn't find it and
we agreed to cancel the order. When I canceled the order I chose to NOT return
the items to inventory. Two weeks later another buyer bought the fig. I couldn't
figure out how it got back in my inventory again! Looking at lot numbers I found
the it was added to my inventory on the day that I canceled the last order.

This is a common occurrence. I remember it happening to an item back in 2004.
My store was small and I remembered selling the item that someone else was now
trying to buy. It's been happening since the beginning of BL.

Thanks for your comment,
Donna

So, it would appear that now item removal requests attempt to issue a refund
when you accept them which is a thing but the issue is that we accepted an item
removal request where the buyer hadn't paid yet and bricklink wanted to issue
a refund... Perhaps having the page check if the status is 'paid' would
be appropriate...

It's even worse than that, we received an email from bricklink noting that
we needed to issue a refund and to disregard the email if we had already submitted
a refund.

The order has not been paid, when the item removal request was sent the invoice
hadn't even been invoiced.

Also, re-checking the email we received it's backwards.

We asked the buyer to send an IRR, they did and we accepted it but the email
says 'The IRR you submitted (...) has been confirmed by BUYER' which
is the opposite of what happened.

It would appear that things didn't go very well when they worked on removal
requests...

This needs to be addressed...

This is the fix. It just doesn't work either. Still no testing, alpha or
beta, just roll it out and wait for the complaints. Business as usual...

Alpha and Beta Testing

ALPHA – Software undergoes alpha testing as a first step in getting user feedback.
Alpha is Latin for “doesn’t work.”

BETA – Software undergoes beta testing shortly before it’s released. Beta is
Latin for “still doesn’t work.”

This is pre-alpha testing, meaning we don't have a test server so just run
tests on the live system and hope it doesn't screw anything up.

while we wait for the complaints about what it broke.

Any thughts? I have no expreience with ShipStation.

I recently moved to Pirate Ship because My PP account was getting locked down
when "someone" determined that I didn't pay enough postage on an order. The
USPS recently moved to scanning packages moving across a scale. If my package
landed on top of something heavier, I got charged and my PP account was locked
until I paid the "fine". There is no fast or easy process to resolve the issue,
in fact it can take up to 60 days to get it cleared.

So I moved to Pirate Ship. They take care of everything. I had to void a couple
labels early on, and I got my refund in a week, unlike PP that takes 30 days
or more.

I wonder if this move by PP will change this scanning/lock down problem. Not
holding my breath though.

I'm hoping Pirate Ship will add BL to the markets that can be imported.

The parts from that set are 100% sure metallic gold. The other kinds of gold

The metallic ones are probably tan or gray underneath.

Come on, BrickLink, surely you can compose a more professional-sounding message

I send a manual invoice. I resent this type of message being inserted into MY

invoices at least own it and let OUR buyers know that we sellers have nothing

e.g.:

I just did a partial refund. It worked, but it was not intuitive.

To do the refund correctly, I had to reverse engineer the tax rate that was used
on the order. That tax rate is not currently disclosed, only the calculated
tax.

The seller should have nothing to do with calculating the sales tax to
do a refund. The seller should only enter the net value of items being refunded,
and the net value (if any) of the shipping being refunded. The sales tax calculation
mechanism should then calculate the correct sales tax part of the refund.

This is going to be a much larger concern once BL supports sales tax exemptions.
It will soon be a concern because of the peculiar way that some states (e.g.
Florida) determine when sales tax applies to shipping, and when it does not.
This is knowledge that the system has, and the seller (in a different state)
usually will not have.

Please make this much more seller friendly, and intuitive.

Agreed! I was a bit over the top about this on this thread, but others had a
more rational discussion about it.

Yes, it's done badly.

On the Mass Inventory Upload page, the first dropdown under "Consolidate Lots
By Using:" is:

New Price and New Tier Pricing

Can we get that separated into two dropdowns? I want to set a new price but leave
the old tier pricing.

Or maybe there can be a verify page, like the second page of parting out
a set, where I can see the current tier pricing and make the changes as needed
if the new price is lower than the current tier price?

Seller tool changes please?

Thanks for considering this.

Please make changes to the following inventory:

Minifig No: sw0100 Name: Anakin Skywalker (Padawan) - Yellow Head
*
sw0100 (Inv) Anakin Skywalker (Padawan) - Yellow Head
Minifigures: Star Wars: Star Wars Episode 2

* Delete 1 Part 3901 Dark Nougat Minifigure, Hair Male
* Add 1 Part 3901 Dark Orange Minifigure, Hair Male

Comments from Submitter:
I have an original figure, and I know what dark orange looks like.

But do you know what Dark Nougat looks like?

Yes I do.

This is the only hairpiece ever made in Dark Nougat (and is one of the only pieces
known to exist in Dark Nougat), and Dark Nougat is very similar to Dark Orange.

https://www.flickr.com/photos/126975831@N07/14890173099/

And this set definitely came with that hairpiece in Dark Nougat. (The official
LEGO data for this set confirms this as it also says it came with Dark Nougat
hair.)

If your original figure came from a sealed set with *true* Dark Orange hair,
then another minifigure will need to be created instead of altering the inventory
of this one.

Cheers,
Randy

also just to add that within that same set it actually comes with Kenobi with
hair described as Dark Orange and then the Anakin hair is officially described
differently as:-

Color Orange-brown
Description Dark Nougat

I'm not sure why Lego use two colour references for that same part but its
certainly intended to be different to Dark Orange thats for sure

I just checked my fig and you are right, it's Dark Nougat.

Then why is the figure pic in DK OG? The set pic and box image also have it
as DK OG?
Any new sellers that sees that pic will think it is DK OG.

So now you will ask me to provide a new pic, with and without cape? I'll
try to get to it.

Thanks for the "schooling".
