You can but they are ignored

use html in my invoice, in my copy of the email I only see the html code, but
not e.g. bold text

BL e-mails are plain text.

|
Well,
10% for handling,
+ 10% for PayPal,
+ 5% for BL,
= 15%
| that was only mentioned in the
banner/slogan and seems to be exclusive to non-EU customers for "VAT reasons"
even though we have no VAT.
|
“VAT reasons” = “we don’t want to do the job of removing VAT as we ought to so
we call it a fee.”
If I’m not mistaken, a few shops do that and are from the same two EU countries.
It’s hard to say if it’s actually legal (maybe there’s a loophole but IANAL…).
Anyway, there’s been a few threads about them and they are still at it. But
maybe BL will eventually do something if they keep receiving reports….

Maybe a few more people can support the proposal if we allow for more than 100
minutes to respond
That said, I think that you are doing great work here. Thanks!
| p.s. An administrator expressed interest in the data I have to offer that will
make the commercial side of the website run better, like missing weights,
packaging dimensions, and images. Um . . . how about we organize things first?
Because I'm certain BL would gobble up the requested data and then "forget"
about organizing the mess.
|
Maybe you can provide the missing data for all the parts that have a name in
the new format, solving both catalog problems at once.

What is a town wheel, or a space wheel? What if a wheel is used in multiple themes?
|
Thank you for the input! I certainly agree with you.
However, I think it would be hard to get away from organizing by themes. And
use is just as problematic. In the absence of both descriptors, wheels would
simply go in order from smallest to largest. That, or be organized by their
attachment type.
I did suggest themes, but it will be a very limited number of them and very broadly
interpreted. If I remember correctly, there were only these 7:
1. Castle
2. Fabuland
3. Freestyle
4. Technic
5. Town
6. Space
7. Znap
Items 1, 2, 3, and 7 will only have a few or maybe a handful of wheels each.
The bulk of the wheels would be categorized as either Space, Technic, or Town.
No system is perfect, but better systems of organization may become evident in
the future. Refining an existing organization will be easier, I think. And
until then, we'd actually be doing something instead of spinning our
wheels.

| Hi,
I'm embarrassed to say that, because I was in a hurry, I accidentally ordered
from an EU seller with an exploitative fee (25%) added to the invoice after the
order. Two questions:
1) This fee is not stated on their Terms page. It's only mentioned in the
banner announcement and the slogan areas. Is this permissible? I thought all
fees had to be mentioned in the Terms. I checked their Terms page before ordering
and saw a "5-10 % - handling, paypal, bricklink fees additional to order," so
I anticipated a smaller fee but not a 25% fee that was only mentioned in the
banner/slogan and seems to be exclusive to non-EU customers for "VAT reasons"
even though we have no VAT.
2) The 25% fee was calculated on the shipping and tax charges as well as the
order. Is it permissible to charge a 25% fee on the shipping/tax?
My order was approximately $106 USD, but the combination of a very high shipping
cost (which I believe was deliberately overcharged as well, based on other orders
I've made from Denmark), tax, and this exploitative fee that's also charged
on shipping/tax adds almost $80 to my order cost. Do I have a valid case for
cancellation based on either the contradictory statements around the fee, the
fee being "hidden" in the banner/slogan, the fee only being charged to non-EU
customers, or the fee being calculated on the tax? Can I report this seller for
avoidance of Bricklink fees?

If it is not in the terms page, I'd ask to cancel. And you might as well
report for good measure, then let bricklink decide if they want such behaviour
on their site.

There are issues when you log in at multiple places in a short time window, you
will get the login / pw mismatch error.
I experience this when I am testing my software and restarting often.
After a couple minutes it works fine again.

Okay, so only the login procedure isn’t reentrant. Once it’s done everything
works.
