In the inventory it doesn't refer to any mf, any suggestion?
Could that be a mistake in the inventory?
Thanks!

Solid vs other studs is a mess, as they were handled badly in the past. Colours
may well be off too, as printing over other colours depends on the base colour.
If listing as part of a minifig, just note the stud type in your description.

For general play use, as above, some rubbing alcohol. For display, buy new parts.

It depends on the scale. The architecture range is a bit mixed when it comes
to scales. What is the footprint of that building in your model?

Yeah, that’s strange. We had another case in another thread: a very new seller
(even newer than your example) with no terms.
They could have deleted their terms after being approved… but I fail to see the
advantage
Some rule they wrote to appear “good” but don’t want to follow anymore?
Anyway, for me, no rules = goodbye (mind how it’s spelled ).

I end up just doing "lego" + "set number" + "bricklink" in google to just skip

It depends what you are buying. If just minifigures, then a normal to larger
smart phone screen would be fine if there was a decent interface. Similarly,
if buying from an already set up wants list, a smaller screen is fine.

So...if someone switched to Onsite Paypal, it sounds like that's been shut
down to force users to sign up for Marketplace. If you have Instant Checkout,
I'm assuming the same applies. For Non-Broken Paypal, they probably shut
off the ability to add it to your store as an option if it's not already
there. But I just placed several orders last weekend, and all of them were offering
Actually-Works Paypal as a payment option. And of course, since that's what
I selected for all of them, all I had to do was log onto that site that didn't
grind to a halt after being hacked...twice, type in some payment info, and wait
for the shipments to arrive.

| It seems that I don't have a choice of what I offer for PayPal payments,
even though BL says I have a choice between onsite and offsite.
There is an option to select PayPal marketplace.
| It's working fine for me. All I do is select standard "Paypal" as the payment
option (or empty my cart if it's not available), wait for the invoice to
come in, and then log in to Paypal to submit payment. Now, come late April,
it'll be jacked twelve ways from Sunday...

Hi there,
Fortunately, the quote system is working just fine. Even if you did not receive
an email, the quote notification was displayed on your My BL page, on the My
BL hover icon in the navigation bar, and a count of all pending quotes would
have shown when you hovered over the My Store icon as well.

Jac, I had a buyer submit a quote last week and it came through as a purchase
with an unknown shipping type. It is definitely not working just fine. Luckily
I knew it was a quote as they had messaged me before had asking what it cost
to ship to HK and I asked them to submit a quote. This was an experienced buyer,
not a newbie that clicked the wrong button.
BL has tons of bugs preventing people from checking out correctly. Either your
devs and/or support people are lying to you or they are unaware due to lack of
diligence/testing/troubleshooting.

A web application has multiple entry points (= pages), so it’s a bit more loose
and confusing than an application (which generally has only one main executable).
But frankly, starting from the database, the code, and actual use cases (just
asking users what they do and how they do it), you can reverse engineer and document
any system.
You just need someone with the proper skills.
From that point, YOU DON’T PATCH the mess, you rewrite it cleanly. (You might
have a team who patches the blurb while you redesign the system, but you don’t
make the new version from the previous one’s spaghetti code, especially not if
you’re still in the “what’s that stuff?” phase.)
Think about an old stone bridge, with a few houses haphazardly built on its top,
that you want to upgrade. You don’t replace every stone arch with a new steel
one one at a time (even though with computers, you can do that magically and
instantaneously). You build a brand new bridge, with brand new, well structured
houses, with all the modern stuff, a bit farther, and when it’s ready, you move
people and trafic to it, just before blowing up the old one.
People have trouble abandoning the old bridge’s stones / the old code. They
don’t understand the stones aren’t really important, it’s the bridge that is.
The knowledge, the processes, the database, all are important, not the code.
(Yes, I’ve done this a few times.)

I think I remembered a right comment from the admins of the time but my lack
of code knowledge led to me asking a totally out of context question, appreciate
the pointer, thankyou

Hi
I don't want to say Bricklink is a high tech online selling platform quite
the oposite
I don't want to say Bricklink is working flawless
Nothing is perfect in this world
You know this I know this.
Why you don't simply accept that here on Bricklink is exactly like in the
real world.
Stock loss? Never think about it? Every commercial company have a calculated
stock loss.
How big is your's?
You complain about a lost Quote...
What's about Bricklink going offline for a week because of a server problem?
What's about Brickling losing their database? Must have backup?
Maybe they lost their backup together with the actual database? In a fire?
There are so many possibility that something will go wrong that I have no time
to think about?
Just try to overcome?

| Hey, I was not expecting that. I appreciate the time you've taken to reply
so thank you.
Regardless of the issues the buyer has now gone through with the order and thankfully
was very understanding of the issues. I'll check my emails later as I occasionally
do get them sent to spam folders.
I've adjusted what I can regarding shipping methods and for bigger more obscure
items I have started to set as manual invoice. I had a buyer who wanted to buy
some plates from me and couldn't even after I explained possible work around
that have worked for other customers.
Regarding your business decisions; not everything makes you money.
If you're having to declare you're staying up until 3am then maybe its
time you actually employ someone. That would be really great on the help desk
side of things as it's practically none existent.
If the code is very fragile then employ someone who knows what they're doing
and that can do it effectively. If a hospital needs a surgeon they're not
going to get a caretaker are they?
Based of what I've read, Lawrence over at BrickOwl listens to his community
I'd send info to the help desk but as I've been ignored before I've
lost hope in that area.
Regarding my used inventorying. I do not mean in the way of parting out new sets
etc. I mean if you're pulling used from a bulk lot. Instead of adding parts
one by one create an onsite way of adding in bulk batches like Brickstock does.
I know this won't make you money but it would be a great addition. Adding
used lots one by one is painful onsite.
I noticed you left out;
Most things you post are vague from every angle and you sit in the shadows
whilst
everyone is up in question. Regardless of if the feedback is good or bad you
still push out the garbage updates anyway. This is not acceptable
Can you please explain why the Bricklink team are so atrocious in explaining
and clarifying situations. Questions are rife on the forum yet I see no answers.
Thanks

I understand, grading would be difficult if it was on a mandated scale, but each
store should be able to differentiate between Used (Like New), Used (Fine) and
Used (Poor), etc. Vast majority of stores don't add comments so buyers have
no idea of the quality until it's actually received.

| People talk about leaving all the time. I didn't agree with a recent change
and because of that I reached out and found other selling platforms besides this
one. I never would have even known about the other sites if that change didn't
occur. That said, it's not really any of my business if things change here.
I can only sit back and enjoy or dislike the ride and if I do dislike it enough
then I'll go somewhere else because there ARE options. It's certainly
inconvenient for me to leave, but not impossible.
The only reason I'm saying that is because since you just got here (heck,
me too) I don't want you to think that the end is near and that everybody
is leaving. People will come and go and they'll do that with or without change.

Exactly. New, you part out and list an entire set all at once. Used, you track
down and list a single piece.

If you're parting out a new set, yes; the same doesn't hold true for
adding Pick-A-Brick to a store or other parts bought as new for the purpose of
reselling.
It's extremely obvious that you would have to find individual parts in the
catalog here when adding used parts to a store. It's been that way from

|
Adding a part to your BO inventory is a 3-click, same-page process once you've
found the part. I get the feeling that BL has a far more convoluted method, but
I use BrickStock and Bricksync so I wouldn't know.
But I read the OP as meaning that all used bricks are treated the same; there's
no grading built in to the system. Everything is binary, either new or used.

Exactly. New, you part out and list an entire set all at once. Used, you track
down and list a single piece. Then the next one is the same piece, but you have
to list it differently because you want to note differences in condition and
price them accordingly. The only reason I can figure that people can make any
money at all on Used is they can often get hugely undervalued lots on sites like
Craigslist or by hitting up garage sales. Or, you know, you can price it higher
than New and hope people will buy it without paying attention because "Used is
always less expensive".

there been some change in the way parts are added to a store when they are used?

I have no idea what you mean by that. The inventories in the catalog are submitted
by users, and they're generally inventoried using new sets, not used.

Replace “to inventory” with “to put in your store’s inventory.”

Good post.
Do not expect BL to answer. When Jennifer first announced that BL would answer
ALL questions and concerns before implementation. They never have. I just do
not understand whey they would say things that are not true.
I have been here for a very long time and have sold almost $500K in Lego, mostly
here and a lot on ebay and many from my posting on Lugnet. This site is not
what it used to be. At one time the site took the feelings and suggestions from
their members. They actually answered questions and more importantly, listened
to the members. That is no longer the case. Perhaps silence should be replaced
with give and take, and that just might help the site grow in a more positive
manner. It is really sad what has become of Dan's dream.

Just a question; how much money can a site make off of this paypal change?

Not wanting to put words in OP’s mouth - to me it sounds like he is not having
issues with set inventories, but more with uploading used parts from a bulk lot
(so to put used parts in your inventory). That process, if only using BL-provided
tools, is painful. If it weren’t for BrickStock, I am sure our shop would not
flourish like it does right now.

I've been on BO for 3 weeks and in that time over 50 stores have opened.
Bricklink has 100 fewer stores than in the summer last year (UK stores). Small
sample size, but a sign of things to come?
|
I just listed 25 vintage sets on BrickOwl yesterday. I have a few other small
lots there but haven't haven't had a sale yet even with with my 800 feedback
boost (not really surprising, I guess, owing to my dearth of inventory). My
difficulty is deciding if/when to synch my inventory between both platforms.
I know there is software that will do this, but I just haven't had the time
required to sit down and learn it.
BrickOwl currently only accepts BrickStore and BrickOwl formats for inventory
uploads. I think if Lawrence developed an upload template that would accept
a BrickLink file format, he might see a surge in new sellers.

One thing that is happening though; I've had Bricklink customers buy from
me but on BrickOwl in recent weeks. It's not just a few either, it's
many.

|
(Just in case: You get Classic “By Shop” by clicking “Classic” then “By Shop”
on the menu bar in the WL page.)
It shows the list of stores ordered by the number of lots or items they have.
That’s exactly what you get on the (new) “Buy” page just after loading it (when
it works ).
What Classic doesn’t have:
1. no Auto-Select, no Easy-Buy,
2. no way to select items to look for, it’s whole WLs or nothing,
3. no way to quickly see exactly what items each store has without opening the
store,
4. no way to select a store / preselect items to buy (thus removing the items
from the list of items to look for and updating the list of stores),
5. and undoubtedly other things I don’t remember right now.
Well, at least, you still have a list of stores with items in your WL….

The Classic view does exactly the same as the New view.
For many it can be helpful enough to know about the existence of the Classic

I (now) know that the member address can be found in the body of the email, but
two things:

I can't think of any good reason that the sending member's address ISN'T
