Today, I found a variant of

Part No: 30602 Name: Slope, Curved 2 x 2 Lip
*
30602 Slope, Curved 2 x 2 Lip
Parts: Slope, Curved
with thin walls where the sides are slightly
textured. I found it only in yellow, all other parts have blank sides. There
is also a variant where the thin part of the back wall is slightly textured while
the sides are blank. Please consider updating the note on the part. I'll
be uploading the picture to the part. Accept it if you want it.

I don't know if its just me but with regards to the ideas and dimensions
themes would'nt it make sense to only give minifigures the 'idea'
and 'dim' codes if they don't already belong to an established and
existing theme? For instance all the Ideas Pirates of Barracuda Bay minifigs
should perhaps be given 'pi' numbers instead of 'idea' numbers?
Likewise dimensions Gimli, Gandalf, Legolas should maybe have a 'lor'
number instead of 'dim' same goes for Slimer and Stay Puft Marshmallow
man which also have 'dim' numbers instead of 'gb'

With the original ghostbusters minifigs from Ecto-1 it looks like they were already
changed from 'idea' numbers to 'gb' numbers with an i on the
end which might be a good way to keep some continuity on the site?

Here we go: (the answers are on the bottom of this message)

1. How many Classic Fire Logo stickers are on the stickersheet of set 374-1?
2. How many Classic Fire Logo stickers are on the counterparts together?
3. Which counterpart is responsible for the difference?
4. Can we just rename this counterpart? Yes or No?
5. Why not?
6. What can we do about this?

If you have correctly answered all the 6 questions, your price is the title 'logical
thinker of the day'!

Cheers, Wilbert

Answers:
1. Five
2. Six (3009pb043L: one; 3009pb043R: one; 3001oldpb07: two (both sides); BA067pb01:
two (both sides)
3. Part 3001oldpb07 (look closely to the frontpage of the instructions as the
instructions itself are not conclusive)
4. No
5. As counterpart 3001oldpb07 is also related to set 590-1, which has the right
number of Classic Fire Logo stickers on the stickersheet (six), which by the
way is not proven by the (frontpage of the) instructions. But ok .....!
6. I really do not know hahaha! No seriously: add a new counterpart for set 374-1.

Just wondering if anyone has a sealed set of

Set No: 3178  Name: Seaplane
*
3178-1 (Inv) Seaplane
98 Parts, 1 Minifigure, 2010
Sets: Town: City: Harbor
.

I am parting out an incomplete set bought off Ebay and have a query with part

Part No: 3794 Name: Plate, Modified 1 x 2 with 1 Stud, Jumper (Undetermined Type)
*
3794 Plate, Modified 1 x 2 with 1 Stud, Jumper (Undetermined Type)
Parts: Plate, Modified {Light Bluish Gray}
.

The current inventory lists the undetermined part 3794 in LBG, but I have found

Part No: 15573 Name: Plate, Modified 1 x 2 with 1 Stud with Groove and Bottom Stud Holder (Jumper)
*
15573 Plate, Modified 1 x 2 with 1 Stud with Groove and Bottom Stud Holder (Jumper)
Parts: Plate, Modified {Light Bluish Gray}
LBG during part out.

So hence the request for a sealed set to check which variant is used, and to
correct the catalogue if needed.

This minifigure "Endor Rebel Commando" sw0367 nad sw0368 has the wrong helmet
in partout:

https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?M=sw0368#T=S&O={%22ss%22:%22SK%22,%22rpp%22:%2250%22,%22iconly%22:0}

The actual helmet is the one on the attached picture not the one in the part
out.
This actual helmet colour variation is nowhere on BL to be found.

This is the actual color variation from the set. See attached. I have 4 of those
sets and all minifigures have this same helmet:

Not sure how to go about this, but part

Part No: 970c00pb0052 Name: Hips and Legs with Lime Boots and Belt Pattern (Buzz Lightyear)
*
970c00pb0052 Hips and Legs with Lime Boots and Belt Pattern (Buzz Lightyear)
Parts: Minifigure, Legs, Decorated

needs to be broken up into 2 separate entries. Currently we only have one for
a lime printing. I have been listing legs recently and came across 4 of these
legs. Three of them had lime printing, the fourth has bright green printing(verified
as Lego). Searching for "Buzz Lightyear" figures, I came across minifig toy004
from which the picture seems to show bright green printing, yet inventory says
it has the legs with lime print.

My guess is that it hasn't been discovered yet that there is a bright green
version, so all the figures with it are being inventoried as having the lime
version.

Hi,

This is probably a very daft question, but I can't seem to find the answer
anywhere so... where does the minifig item number come from?

For example, take the minifig 'twn071' (https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?M=twn071)

As far as I understand, this means it is the 71st figure within the category
'Town'.

So who decides the categories and the number ordering within those categories?
LEGO? Bricklink? Someone else?

I am asking because I want to start seriously collecting and organising figures
across several categories, but I would like to fully understand this system before
I start using it!

Thanks in advance,
Josh

This page was becoming unwieldy with all the variants and was difficult to maintain:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=940

So now we've added this:

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogRelCat.asp?relID=24

Definitions updated:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=599

Now when you discover a new mold or print variant, all you have to do is:

1. Submit a comparison image showing the differences.

2. Submit a relationship match.

That's it! Enjoy.

I have the small stickers that fit over the blue 6541 and the blue 4070 to this
set as they are applied in the first model. However in the alternate build for
this set, they look to be applied to a 1 x 6 brick.

Do they qualify to be added as a SOA part, and also as a brick decorated part
to the catalog, or are they nullified from being added since they can be applied
in multiple configurations in this set?

Hey fellow bricklinkers,

Today i parted out 20 times set 41916 - dots series 2 charms.

I added half of the printed tiles to the catalog (the other half was already
there), but it is not added to the set inventory. Am I to impatient or did i
do something wrong in adding?

Very curious in discovering (still...) the adding to the catalog functions

Thx for your insights! - Marielle

Hello everyone,

I have some long-awaited news for you! We have created a new Catalog Admin position
which has privileges on both sides of the system, the catalog and inventories.
This is a culmination of about 3 years of work, and we are so proud of our first
ever member to take this position, Hygrotus.

He has steadily worked his way up to this level from his years of being an outstanding
and reliable contributor, to a special class of contributor known as an Inventories
Verifier, to one year experience as an Inv Admin, and then most recently about
14 months as a Catalog Associate. We are pleased that he has stuck with the program
and now is going to forge ahead.

We are combining the two "halves" of the system for many reasons, but the main
one being efficiency. If only one admin is available on a given weekend, for
example, we can take care of contributions on both sides, which are often dependent
on each other.

We will retain the Catalog Associate and Inv Admin positions for the purpose
of training new Catalog Admins. They will be considered transitory positions.

I may have missed the official comm on this, but it seems like the restriction
on SOA's changed sometime in the recent past. I see some discussions where
CAs don't seem to have issue with them.

I only ask because I have a pile I've collected for a while - some may already
be submitted, some not - was going to work through them, but don't want to
put the effort in if they are discouraged:

The assembly on the right is from sets in 2007, 2010 and 2013, which has the

Is this a misprint on those torsos I have or is it a differrent torso altogether?

This part used to be called horizontal, right?

This is causing for problems, at least the inventory of the Central Perk set
is off.

But I am not really sure I understand the logic behind the name change.

(Perhaps this happened a long time ago already but I only noticed just now)

As announced in mid-April, today the item type and category definitions were
updated.

Two months from now, on August 1st, we'd like to (which doesn't mean
for a certainty that we will) simultaneously launch a couple of projects from
the roadmap as follows:

1. Clarification of Item Types and Moving Items - A project to clearly define
what constitutes sets, parts, minifigures, books, gear, and catalogs. Once clear
definitions exist, some (and potentially many) items may need to be changed from
one type to another to comply with definitions.

7. Part Reclassifications - A project to revisit certain difficult-to-define
parts and determine if they would fit better in different categories.

During the coming two months, please make a list of the items you feel are miscategorized,
whether by item type or by category. As you make your list or lists, refer to
the new definitions to see where they support or fail to support your position
and be prepared to offer suggestions for improvements to the definitions.

I've no doubt that the discussion that occurs will also involve categories
themselves, so be prepared with a list of specific categories that you feel should
be removed altogether, categories that should be renamed, and new categories
that are needed.

In the interim, there is no need to reply to this message.

Hi,

Can someone tell me the difference between these 2?

Minifig No: post001 Name: Post Office - Black Legs, Black Hat
*
post001 (Inv) Post Office - Black Legs, Black Hat
Minifigures: Town: Classic Town: Post Office

Minifig No: post001new Name: Post Office - Black Legs, Black Hat (Reissue)
*
post001new (Inv) Post Office - Black Legs, Black Hat (Reissue)
Minifigures: Town: Classic Town: Post Office

The inventory of both is exactly the same and (imho) both minifigs in the pictures
look the same as well.
The only difference is the average price sold, new is about double the price
of old.

If they're exactly the same, just one is from old sets and the other from
more recent collectible minifig sets, do they really need separate entries?
In a lot of used Lego I found torso

*
973pb0035c01 (Inv) Torso Post Office Worker, Suit and Horn Logo Pattern / Red Arms / Yellow Hands
Parts: Minifigure, Torso Assembly, Decor.
how do I know which minifig
it was?

I recently submitted a part variant for

Part No: 4180c01  Name: Brick, Modified 2 x 4 with Black Wheels, Train Spoked Small (23mm D.) and Black Pins (4180 / wheel3 / 2344)
*
4180c01 (Inv) Brick, Modified 2 x 4 with Black Wheels, Train Spoked Small (23mm D.) and Black Pins (4180 / wheel3 / 2344)
Parts: Wheel

The other variation of this part has red central pin

Part No: 2344 Name: Pin for FreeStyle Wheel
*
2344 Pin for FreeStyle Wheel
Parts: Wheel, Accessory {Red}
instead of black. Currently, an extra photo for this item is included to show
this second variation and a note is also added.

My submission is rejected since CatAdmins are working on guidelines to figure
out when the split variations of a part, but I am informed that "the likelihood
of adding these as catalog entries in the future is rather low."
I thought a discussion on the forum about this part can be more helpful.

While I am in general against adding variation of parts as separate entries,
I do not know why this variation was not added in the past 15 years, and why
my two attempts in adding them in the past 3 years has been rejected. I started
to list reasons I know for why it is important to split this part and for doing
this, I checked the listing of

Part No: 4180c01  Name: Brick, Modified 2 x 4 with Black Wheels, Train Spoked Small (23mm D.) and Black Pins (4180 / wheel3 / 2344)
*
4180c01 (Inv) Brick, Modified 2 x 4 with Black Wheels, Train Spoked Small (23mm D.) and Black Pins (4180 / wheel3 / 2344)
Parts: Wheel

Catadmins have some criteria for when to split an entry and will even work on
it. For this particular part, I am wondering if they have checked how many sellers
have included in the description of their 4180c01 "red pin?"

We can assume some sellers who currently have these wheels for sale may not know
variations or the importance of variations for buyers, so why they did not mention
it in the description.
Since 4180c01 with red central pin was produced for one entire year (1986) and
the other variation for 10 years (1980-85 and 1987-90) we expect to see about
%9 of wheels 4180c01 that are ever produced to have red central pin. We can
also see that currently, 34 lots out of 163 lots for sale have "red" in the description.
This is about %20 of all listings. (the number of items in each lot is different,
and we do not know how fast wheels with red central pin are sold)

Does this show that almost all sellers know the importance of the color of pin
for buyers? Based on this observation, I would say definitely.

The note for the entry of 3443c07 is probably not correct:

This part also exists with red axle pins, but this is considered to be a production
error
. Variants with red pins may be listed in the item description.

This wheel with red central pin was produced for one entire year, coming in seven
sets. This was most likely a decision of TLG rather than an error. Black pins
could not be out of stock for 12 months. The same for this part

Part No: 3443c07 Name: Train Battery Box Car with Three Contact Holes, Black Switch Lever, Black Magnets, and Black Wheels
*
3443c07 Train Battery Box Car with Three Contact Holes, Black Switch Lever, Black Magnets, and Black Wheels
Parts: Train
produced in one year (1987) but before (1985-86) and after (1988-1990) TLG produced
them with red switch

Part No: 3443c08 Name: Train Battery Box Car with Three Contact Holes, Red Switch Lever, Black Magnets, and Black Wheels
*
3443c08 Train Battery Box Car with Three Contact Holes, Red Switch Lever, Black Magnets, and Black Wheels
Parts: Train
Were red switch out of stock for one year? I don't think so. For some strange
reason, TLG produced this battery wagon with black switch in 1987 but after,
they went back to red-switch version again.

If you have had trains from 80's, please add your comments if you think this
part should, or should not, be replaced by two more specific entries, red or
black central pin.
This discussion will hopefully help the decision CatAdmins will make in the near
future.

If this is on the Catalog roadmap, my apologies, but I am noticing some logic
discrepancies on how some of these parts are allocated to their current categories.

Fo obvious reasons, part 25269 (Tile, Round 1 x 1 Quarter) is in the Tile Round
category, because 4 of these makes a nice circle shape.

Part No: 25269 Name: Tile, Round 1 x 1 Quarter
*
25269 Tile, Round 1 x 1 Quarter
Parts: Tile, Round

Therefore I am assuming Part 24246 (Tile, Modified 1 x 1 Half Circle Extended
(Stadium)) is in the Tile Modified category because it's irregular and makes
no circle shape, despite one side being round.

Part No: 24246 Name: Tile, Round 1 x 1 Half Circle Extended
*
24246 Tile, Round 1 x 1 Half Circle Extended
Parts: Tile, Round

Yet part 39739 (Tile, Round 1 x 1 Heart) is in the Tile Round category, despite
the fact that it makes no circular shape (clover leaf shape at best). To me,
they should either be in the Tile Round or Tile Modified as it's confusing
things.

Part No: 39739 Name: Tile, Round 1 x 1 Heart
*
39739 Tile, Round 1 x 1 Heart
Parts: Tile, Round

There are other parts in the Tile Round category which are clearly modified like

Part No: 20482 Name: Tile, Round 1 x 1 with Bar and Pin Holder
*
20482 Tile, Round 1 x 1 with Bar and Pin Holder
Parts: Tile, Round

Part No: 2376 Name: Tile, Round 2 x 2 with Lifting Ring Thin
*
2376 Tile, Round 2 x 2 with Lifting Ring Thin
Parts: Tile, Round

This is also true for Plate Round category items. Perhaps it's time to create
Plate Round Modified and Tile Round Modified categories. There may be reason
for not doing this now, but things like this really bug me when searching for
parts where my logic fails to find them, usually parts falling into 2 or 3 categories
due to vague nature of classification.

1.

Part No: 37494 Name: Bar 3.6L Double with Angled Ends (Train Pantograph Shoe)
*
37494 Bar 3.6L Double with Angled Ends (Train Pantograph Shoe)
Parts: Bar

There is no hinge in it.

I understand it is familiar with:

Part No: 2922 Name: Hinge Train Pantograph Shoe Locking with 2 Fingers
*
2922 Hinge Train Pantograph Shoe Locking with 2 Fingers
Parts: Hinge

and

Part No: 2881 Name: Hinge Train Pantograph Shoe with 3 Fingers
*
2881 Hinge Train Pantograph Shoe with 3 Fingers
Parts: Hinge

but there is no hinge.

If they belong together then they should be in Train category?

2.

Part No: 18910 Name: Panel 3 x 4 x 3 Curved with Double Clip Hinge
*
18910 Panel 3 x 4 x 3 Curved with Double Clip Hinge
Parts: Panel

Again I understand the familiarity with:

Part No: 2582  Name: Panel 2 x 4 x 3 1/3 with Hinge
*
2582 Panel 2 x 4 x 3 1/3 with Hinge
Parts: Panel

and

Part No: 44572  Name: Panel 2 x 4 x 3 1/3 with Double Locking 2 Fingers Hinge
*
44572 Panel 2 x 4 x 3 1/3 with Double Locking 2 Fingers Hinge
Parts: Panel

But again, there is no hinge. If they really have to belong together, maybe they
should be in Panel category?

Just my opinion, anyway. What do you reckon?

Hi,

I was parting out a used set of

Set No: 70130 Name: Sparratus' Spider Stalker
*
70130-1 (Inv) Sparratus' Spider Stalker
282 Parts, 2 Minifigures, 2014
Sets: LEGENDS OF CHIMA
and there are some counterparts missing
from the BL catalog.
Since I have them, I thought it might be a good idea to add them to the catalog.

But I'm kind of stuck on how to give them a proper name.
I have absolutely no idea what those stickers are supposed to represent.

Can someone give me a hint?

When looking at sets in the catalog the item info includes weight. Is this weight
of the model alone, once constructed or the full and complete set including packaging
and instructions?

Eg for the UCS B-Wing - Weight is stated as 2796g. What does this refer to exactly?

Cheers

BTW - I did do a quick search before asking this, but was overwhelmed with info
that had nothing to do with this question!

Should dual molded legs or arms in their respective assemblies really be considered
as decorated?
To me BL considered the decorated as by means of printing or applying decoration
using stickers.

example

Part No: 970c00pb0970 Name: Hips and Legs with Molded Dark Orange Lower Legs / Boots Pattern
*
970c00pb0970 Hips and Legs with Molded Dark Orange Lower Legs / Boots Pattern
Parts: Minifigure, Legs, Decorated

the reasoning is, how is that any different from legs assembly with single color
legs but different color hips or mismatched leg colors?

Part No: 970d46 Name: Hips and 1 Medium Azure Left Leg, 1 Bright Light Orange Right Leg
*
970d46 (Inv) Hips and 1 Medium Azure Left Leg, 1 Bright Light Orange Right Leg
Parts: Minifigure, Legs

I feel the same way about dual molded arms

Part No: 973c83 Name: Torso Plain / Yellow Arms with Molded Green Short Sleeves Pattern / Yellow Hands
*
973c83 (Inv) Torso Plain / Yellow Arms with Molded Green Short Sleeves Pattern / Yellow Hands
Parts: Minifigure, Torso Assembly, Decor.

There are reasons for not separating them, mainly for new buyers not knowing
or caring about the difference or just the general way of looking at it, but
I feel like there is no real definition for the term decorated that should be
defined. As far I am concerned, dual color molding is not really decorating.

Any thoughts?

Does anyone know why Brick Modified 1 x 2 x 2/3 No Studs, Wing End is
so expensive?? It's in more than 100 sets and I feel like it's quite
common. I came across several stores selling it for $1, even $2.

Hello, I would like clarification on the 5306bc electric, wire and connector.
The number next to it corresponds to the length of the cable, or is it the length
of the cable and the brick (for example 5306bc026) ?
Thank you for your answers.
Best regards,
Joel

Hello,

the item 6468 is according to the catalog 1x3x4. This seems correct with the
picture.
However, it is referenced as being used in item 6460. That is not correct with
the dimensions.
I post a picture of the window/door that fits 6460. You can clearly see it fits,
but has other dimensions as item 6468.

Hi, I have a 1x2 plate that has a sticker on it, I have gone to list it and have
found that it is marked for deletion because the sticker was applied to the wrong
part.
I have got this model at home and also have the instructions for it. the sticker
has been applied to the correct part as it shows it clearly on the instructions.
Who do we contact in order to get the deletion cancelled?
Part number is 3023pb01, you can see clearly in the picture that the sticker
is applied to the 1x2 plate and not the mudguard.

Is there any way for me to view the weight/dimensions of a set from its catalog
entry in Imperial units (pounds/inches- ghastly, I know, but I live in America)?
I commonly use this when quoting shipping for a buyer so I don't have to
dig out a set every time someone asks, but it is always a little bit of hassle
to convert grams to pounds and cm to inches.

Hey, I'm trying to help with the 21159 set, but it would be my first inventory
job, so I'm hitting a block early on.

It looks like the set has one of those:

Part No: minesheep04 Name: Minecraft Sheep, Red, Sheared - Brick Built
*
minesheep04 (Inv) Minecraft Sheep, Red, Sheared - Brick Built
Parts: Animal, Land

but in white. Meanwhile, the name "Minecraft Sheep, White - Brick Built" is already
taken by:

Part No: minesheep01 Name: Minecraft Sheep, White, Plate 2 x 2 on Back - Brick Built
*
minesheep01 (Inv) Minecraft Sheep, White, Plate 2 x 2 on Back - Brick Built
Parts: Animal, Land

which has a different build (plates instead of brick). What to do, I wonder?

Happy day The time that is spent differentiating between mold variants is
certainly not worth it money-wise, but worth it in other ways.

A customer purchased some classic 2555's. Apparently we still sent two different
variants to him. Sure, most of the older parts have various mini-differences,
just never thought anyone would actually care about getting a specific variant.
Either way, I was not aware of this particular difference.

Our customer described it as 'The wider ones and the narrower ones' and
sent us a picture, circling the different variants. A bit hard to see, I am attaching
one more.

The difference itself is in the sharpness of the outside/inside edges - the very
tops the clips. Principally kind of similar to the difference between classic
and modern 2555, except much more subtle. Difficult to judge if looking at the
edge itself, but becomes easy when comparing from the top view. At least when
you have two pieces to compare

The left one has, call it, completely sharp edge. The right one has a slight
roundness to it. That rounding comes at a cost of reducing the top surface area
of the clip.

Complete list of the differences between the two:

The 'flat top' type:
* Sharper edge / bigger top surface area of the clip
* mold pip on a side
* now looking from yet another side, the sidewall of the clip is completely straight
in all dimensions - does not get narrower towards the top and forms a straight
rectangle (the last picture)

The 'slightly slightly rounded top'
* Slightly rounded top edge of the clip, reduced flat surface area of the top
* mold pip at the bottom
* sidewall is of slightly concave shape - forms a trapezoid

Some more differences, but only concerns the construction of the mold and the
ejection pins placement.

Question(s).
1 - How many of you have/have not noticed this particular difference before?
Curious.

2 - any other different classic 2555s than these two?

Part No: 981982pb038 Name: Arm, (Matching Left and Right) Pair with Molded Light Aqua Short Sleeves Pattern
*
981982pb038 (Inv) Arm, (Matching Left and Right) Pair with Molded Light Aqua Short Sleeves Pattern
Parts: Minifigure, Body Part

For the catalog project Figure Part Changes, number 1 on the in progress list
(https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2476#ProjectsInProgress), I just noted
a significant difference between Bricklink and LDraw - used as a source for Studio
parts.

LDraw (and thus Studio if it were to include these parts) has the dual molded
arms with fixed color lower arms - currently only yellow and light flesh in their
database. (https://www.ldraw.org/cgi-bin/ptscan.cgi?q=arm+right+lower+arm+pattern&scope=description)

Bricklink has the dual molded arms with fixed color upper arms - hence a plethora
of colors. (https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?q=arm%20short%20sleeves%20pattern)

The choice is of course arbitrary, but during this catalog project, would it
be wise to adapt to LDraw's (and thus Studio's) choice?

Except for the coloring, is there any difference between [p=62575cx1] and

Part No: 23714  Name: Ant
*
23714 Ant
Parts: Animal, Land
?

Also, how do we go about numbering in such a case in general? 62575 is the LEGO
design number for the marbled version, 23714 for the plain version. Is the former
really seen as an assembly (cx1)?

I would suggest 62575cx1 renumbered to 23714pb01 and 62575 listed as an alternative
number. Before making such a request, I'd like to be sure about any differences
and guide lines.

And yes, Robert, I know the catalog team has different priorities right now,
but this one just came up and I wonder.

I have had some issues with items not having size dimensions (particularly for
newer items - come up as 0x0x0 or ?x?x?).

This has caused me problems with instant checkout because even though there are
no dimensions it is not forcing a quote request (which is what I thought should
happen).

Anyone have any similar experiences or suggestions for a fix (Admins?)

Thanks in advance
