| Today, I found a variant of with thin walls where the sides are slightly
textured. I found it only in yellow, all other parts have blank sides. There
is also a variant where the thin part of the back wall is slightly textured while
the sides are blank. Please consider updating the note on the part. I'll
be uploading the picture to the part. Accept it if you want it.

| I don't know if its just me but with regards to the ideas and dimensions
themes would'nt it make sense to only give minifigures the 'idea'
and 'dim' codes if they don't already belong to an established and
existing theme? For instance all the Ideas Pirates of Barracuda Bay minifigs
should perhaps be given 'pi' numbers instead of 'idea' numbers?
Likewise dimensions Gimli, Gandalf, Legolas should maybe have a 'lor'
number instead of 'dim' same goes for Slimer and Stay Puft Marshmallow
man which also have 'dim' numbers instead of 'gb'
With the original ghostbusters minifigs from Ecto-1 it looks like they were already
changed from 'idea' numbers to 'gb' numbers with an i on the
end which might be a good way to keep some continuity on the site?

| Here we go: (the answers are on the bottom of this message)
1. How many Classic Fire Logo stickers are on the stickersheet of set 374-1?
2. How many Classic Fire Logo stickers are on the counterparts together?
3. Which counterpart is responsible for the difference?
4. Can we just rename this counterpart? Yes or No?
5. Why not?
6. What can we do about this?
If you have correctly answered all the 6 questions, your price is the title 'logical
thinker of the day'!
Cheers, Wilbert
Answers:
1. Five
2. Six (3009pb043L: one; 3009pb043R: one; 3001oldpb07: two (both sides); BA067pb01:
two (both sides)
3. Part 3001oldpb07 (look closely to the frontpage of the instructions as the
instructions itself are not conclusive)
4. No
5. As counterpart 3001oldpb07 is also related to set 590-1, which has the right
number of Classic Fire Logo stickers on the stickersheet (six), which by the
way is not proven by the (frontpage of the) instructions. But ok .....!
6. I really do not know hahaha! No seriously: add a new counterpart for set 374-1.

| Just wondering if anyone has a sealed set of .
I am parting out an incomplete set bought off Ebay and have a query with part
.
The current inventory lists the undetermined part 3794 in LBG, but I have found
LBG during part out.
So hence the request for a sealed set to check which variant is used, and to
correct the catalogue if needed.

| Not sure how to go about this, but part
needs to be broken up into 2 separate entries. Currently we only have one for
a lime printing. I have been listing legs recently and came across 4 of these
legs. Three of them had lime printing, the fourth has bright green printing(verified
as Lego). Searching for "Buzz Lightyear" figures, I came across minifig toy004
from which the picture seems to show bright green printing, yet inventory says
it has the legs with lime print.
My guess is that it hasn't been discovered yet that there is a bright green
version, so all the figures with it are being inventoried as having the lime
version.

| Hi,
This is probably a very daft question, but I can't seem to find the answer
anywhere so... where does the minifig item number come from?
For example, take the minifig 'twn071' (https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?M=twn071)
As far as I understand, this means it is the 71st figure within the category
'Town'.
So who decides the categories and the number ordering within those categories?
LEGO? Bricklink? Someone else?
I am asking because I want to start seriously collecting and organising figures
across several categories, but I would like to fully understand this system before
I start using it!
Thanks in advance,
Josh

| I have the small stickers that fit over the blue 6541 and the blue 4070 to this
set as they are applied in the first model. However in the alternate build for
this set, they look to be applied to a 1 x 6 brick.
Do they qualify to be added as a SOA part, and also as a brick decorated part
to the catalog, or are they nullified from being added since they can be applied
in multiple configurations in this set?

| Hey fellow bricklinkers,
Today i parted out 20 times set 41916 - dots series 2 charms.
I added half of the printed tiles to the catalog (the other half was already
there), but it is not added to the set inventory. Am I to impatient or did i
do something wrong in adding?
Very curious in discovering (still...) the adding to the catalog functions
Thx for your insights! - Marielle

| Hello everyone,
I have some long-awaited news for you! We have created a new Catalog Admin position
which has privileges on both sides of the system, the catalog and inventories.
This is a culmination of about 3 years of work, and we are so proud of our first
ever member to take this position, Hygrotus.
He has steadily worked his way up to this level from his years of being an outstanding
and reliable contributor, to a special class of contributor known as an Inventories
Verifier, to one year experience as an Inv Admin, and then most recently about
14 months as a Catalog Associate. We are pleased that he has stuck with the program
and now is going to forge ahead.
We are combining the two "halves" of the system for many reasons, but the main
one being efficiency. If only one admin is available on a given weekend, for
example, we can take care of contributions on both sides, which are often dependent
on each other.
We will retain the Catalog Associate and Inv Admin positions for the purpose
of training new Catalog Admins. They will be considered transitory positions.

| I may have missed the official comm on this, but it seems like the restriction
on SOA's changed sometime in the recent past. I see some discussions where
CAs don't seem to have issue with them.
I only ask because I have a pile I've collected for a while - some may already
be submitted, some not - was going to work through them, but don't want to
put the effort in if they are discouraged:

| I have some from sets between 2008 and 2010 that have a white
knot on the tie and Light Grey lapels, sides and button prints, as in the part
on the left in the image.
The assembly on the right is from sets in 2007, 2010 and 2013, which has the
same torso as the current entry for this part - black knot and Dark Grey lapels,
sides and button prints, on the right in the image.
Is this a misprint on those torsos I have or is it a differrent torso altogether?

This part used to be called horizontal, right?
This is causing for problems, at least the inventory of the Central Perk set
is off.
But I am not really sure I understand the logic behind the name change.

Author: | StormChaser | Posted: | Jun 1, 2020 01:26 | Subject: | Make A List | Viewed: | 314 times | Topic: | Catalog | Status: | Open
| As announced in mid-April, today the item type and category definitions were
updated.
Two months from now, on August 1st, we'd like to (which doesn't mean
for a certainty that we will) simultaneously launch a couple of projects from
the roadmap as follows:
1. Clarification of Item Types and Moving Items - A project to clearly define
what constitutes sets, parts, minifigures, books, gear, and catalogs. Once clear
definitions exist, some (and potentially many) items may need to be changed from
one type to another to comply with definitions.
7. Part Reclassifications - A project to revisit certain difficult-to-define
parts and determine if they would fit better in different categories.
During the coming two months, please make a list of the items you feel are miscategorized,
whether by item type or by category. As you make your list or lists, refer to
the new definitions to see where they support or fail to support your position
and be prepared to offer suggestions for improvements to the definitions.
I've no doubt that the discussion that occurs will also involve categories
themselves, so be prepared with a list of specific categories that you feel should
be removed altogether, categories that should be renamed, and new categories
that are needed.
In the interim, there is no need to reply to this message.

| Hi,
Can someone tell me the difference between these 2?
The inventory of both is exactly the same and (imho) both minifigs in the pictures
look the same as well.
The only difference is the average price sold, new is about double the price
of old.
If they're exactly the same, just one is from old sets and the other from
more recent collectible minifig sets, do they really need separate entries?
In a lot of used Lego I found torso how do I know which minifig
it was?

Author: | SezaR | Posted: | May 28, 2020 04:53 | Subject: | Train wheels | Viewed: | 153 times | Topic: | Catalog | Status: | Open
| I recently submitted a part variant for
* | | 4180c01 (Inv) Brick, Modified 2 x 4 with Black Wheels, Train Spoked Small (23mm D.) and Black Pins (4180 / wheel3 / 2344) Parts: Wheel |
The other variation of this part has red central pin
instead of black. Currently, an extra photo for this item is included to show
this second variation and a note is also added.
My submission is rejected since CatAdmins are working on guidelines to figure
out when the split variations of a part, but I am informed that "the likelihood
of adding these as catalog entries in the future is rather low."
I thought a discussion on the forum about this part can be more helpful.
While I am in general against adding variation of parts as separate entries,
I do not know why this variation was not added in the past 15 years, and why
my two attempts in adding them in the past 3 years has been rejected. I started
to list reasons I know for why it is important to split this part and for doing
this, I checked the listing of
* | | 4180c01 (Inv) Brick, Modified 2 x 4 with Black Wheels, Train Spoked Small (23mm D.) and Black Pins (4180 / wheel3 / 2344) Parts: Wheel |
Catadmins have some criteria for when to split an entry and will even work on
it. For this particular part, I am wondering if they have checked how many sellers
have included in the description of their 4180c01 "red pin?"
We can assume some sellers who currently have these wheels for sale may not know
variations or the importance of variations for buyers, so why they did not mention
it in the description.
Since 4180c01 with red central pin was produced for one entire year (1986) and
the other variation for 10 years (1980-85 and 1987-90) we expect to see about
%9 of wheels 4180c01 that are ever produced to have red central pin. We can
also see that currently, 34 lots out of 163 lots for sale have "red" in the description.
This is about %20 of all listings. (the number of items in each lot is different,
and we do not know how fast wheels with red central pin are sold)
Does this show that almost all sellers know the importance of the color of pin
for buyers? Based on this observation, I would say definitely.
The note for the entry of 3443c07 is probably not correct:
This part also exists with red axle pins, but this is considered to be a production
error. Variants with red pins may be listed in the item description.
This wheel with red central pin was produced for one entire year, coming in seven
sets. This was most likely a decision of TLG rather than an error. Black pins
could not be out of stock for 12 months. The same for this part
* | | 3443c07 Train Battery Box Car with Three Contact Holes, Black Switch Lever, Black Magnets, and Black Wheels Parts: Train |
produced in one year (1987) but before (1985-86) and after (1988-1990) TLG produced
them with red switch
* | | 3443c08 Train Battery Box Car with Three Contact Holes, Red Switch Lever, Black Magnets, and Black Wheels Parts: Train |
Were red switch out of stock for one year? I don't think so. For some strange
reason, TLG produced this battery wagon with black switch in 1987 but after,
they went back to red-switch version again.
If you have had trains from 80's, please add your comments if you think this
part should, or should not, be replaced by two more specific entries, red or
black central pin.
This discussion will hopefully help the decision CatAdmins will make in the near
future.
