i did the set twice and was left with 2 extra pins. With 55 used in the set, this would make more sense to have 2 extra included

I watched three speed builds from sealed set contents, and they all showed two
extra pins. Request accepted.

I have been checking my son's Technic collection for completeness etc, and
have come across some Technic stickered assembly items, which are not in the
catalogue under the counterparts section.

Is there a reason for this, or is it simply no-one has been brave enough to
do it?

I don't mind having a go and try and get them entered, but I am not very
good with coming up with good accurate descriptions for the stickers. If it
was a plain number, I'd be fine, but when it comes to a SW figure, I don't
wish to describe it as one thing and upset the SW fans who know it should be
something else.

Also is there a limit to the number of characters you can put into a description?
As some Technic entry's are quite long before anything else is added.

See the photos for the items which I am referring to.

Any help/advise I would be most grateful for.

I noticed when I was working on a similar project that yes, the counterparts
were missing to some of the older, smaller, technic sets.

I think just no one has bothered to work on it.

Thanking you all.

Checked with my own item of this type. But at these two position I have another qunantity as in the bricklink inventory. So I have checked the building instruction regadring these two item and so i have confirmed that the bricklink inventory have this two failures..

As has already been pointed out by another member, these parts were used to create
an alternate assembly of the connections of the arms to the body. These requests
will not be accepted.

Nope

I have gotten used to LBG by now. I do like LG better. But on the Star Destroyer,
LBG just isn't right.

This is definitely not true. There are a number of sets during the color transition

do some research before making such broad generalizations.

  Hi,

I apologize in advance for my English, it is translated by Google.
I bought and sorted 9797 sets a lot, so I have information about 9797 sets.
Lego released 3 versions of the set in 2006, 2009, and 2012. You can distinguish
the set versions by the LEGO copyright information on the boxes and paper sheets.

The first version of the set (2006) had the following differences:
1 version of NXT - Complete Brick
6538b Black Technic, Axle Connector 2L (Ridged with x Hole x Orientation)
4716 Black Technic, Gear Worm Screw, Long
6558 Black Technic, Pin 3L with Friction Ridges Lengthwise
3647 Light Bluish Gray Technic, Gear 8 Tooth
4019 Light Bluish Gray Technic, Gear 16 Tooth (First Version - 4 Round Holes)
32269 Light Bluish Gray Technic, Gear 20 Tooth Double Bevel
3648 Light Bluish Gray Technic, Gear 24 Tooth (2nd Version - 1 Axle Hole)
x1678 Dark Bluish Gray Electric, Rechargeable Battery 7.4V - NXT, AC plug

The second version of the set (2009) had the following differences:
2 version of NXT - Complete Brick
6538c Black Technic, Axle Connector 2L (Smooth with x Hole + Orientation)
4716 Light Bluish Gray Technic, Gear Worm Screw, Long
6558 Blue Technic, Pin 3L with Friction Ridges Lengthwise
3647 Dark Bluish Gray Technic, Gear 8 Tooth
94925 Light Bluish Gray Technic, Gear 16 Tooth (Second Version - Reinforced)
32269 Tan Technic, Gear 20 Tooth Double Bevel
3648 Dark Bluish Gray Technic, Gear 24 Tooth (2nd Version - 1 Axle Hole)
87662c01 Very Light Bluish Gray Electric, Rechargeable Battery 7.4V - NXT, DC
plug
Add 55615 Light Bluish Gray Technic, Pin Connector Perpendicular 3 x 3 Bent with
4 Pins

Third version of the set (2012) had the following differences:
Removed x1676 Black Electric, Converter Cable, Mindstorms NXT 35cm
Removed 6035c01 White Electric, Light Brick 1 x 2 with Single Side Light (6034
/ 6035)

There are errors in inventory 9797, this set did not have details of color "Light
Gray".
I didn't track the differences in the parts of the minifigures.

Best regards
Alexei

I have parted this set out many times. I did find light gray pieces once.

Thanks for your reply.
I think this is a mistake.
Or the parts were replaced with parts with the color Light Gray (in the used
set). Or the parts are yellowed with time (if the set was sealed).

Jon only parts out brand new sets that have never been opened. If he found light
gray parts, he found light gray parts.

If we look in the Bricklink database for details with the color Light Gray (3023,
3894, 3702, 3703, 56145), then we will see that LEGO did not use this color after
2004.

They sure did. See https://www.bricklink.com/catalogListOld.asp?pg=1&colorInSet=9&sortBy=Y&sortAsc=D&catType=S

A set of 9797 began production in 2006. The 56145 wheel was not produced
at all in the Light Gray color.

It was at some point, and it happened to make it into this set according to Jon.

Second, I haven't seen sets where LEGO used "old" and "new" gray parts. Sets

of the "new" color - Light Bluish Gray and Dark Bluish Gray.

Sealed sets, very nice Light Gray, not yellowy Light Bluish Gray.

And sets routinely come with older variant pieces that were no longer in production
when the set was produced.

What I am telling you is that they did. I have seen them and I sold them in

I have seen it several times in Dacta Technic/Mindstorm sets.

Your pictures would be extremely useful, but BrickLink has mangled them into
tiny and therefore unusable sizes. Do you have these uploaded somewhere that
we can access them in large sizes? If not, then can you do that?

Also, do we have your permission to use these photos as catalog images if we
need to?

I will try to take some good photos tomorrow afternoon and upload them for free
download. I allow you to use these photos on the Bricklink website.

If we look in the Bricklink database for details with the color Light Gray (3023,
3894, 3702, 3703, 56145), then we will see that LEGO did not use this color after
2004. A set of 9797 began production in 2006. The 56145 wheel was not produced
at all in the Light Gray color.

Second, I haven't seen sets where LEGO used "old" and "new" gray parts. Sets
always use parts of the "old" color - Light Gray and Dark Gray, or only parts
of the "new" color - Light Bluish Gray and Dark Bluish Gray.

Hi,

I rebuild this old set according to BL inventory list and original instructions.
But in the end I have 3 bits left...

2x 3024 Yellow Plate 1 x 1
1x 3794a Yellow Plate, Modified 1 x 2 with 1 Stud without Groove (Jumper)

Looked at the instructions a couple of times now and I just can't figure
out where to put them.

Any ideas?

Fair point. But the same sets packaged in different factories or even at different
times in the same factory, or perhaps even at the same time in the same factory,
may contain different variants.

That other sets came out differently from the same (or not) factory at the same
time (or not) doesn’t change the fact that one set is as it was when it came
out of the factory.

All the sesterces are different, it doesn’t change the fact some of them can
be certified as being real antique coins from a certified time-period.

I stand by my opinion that period-specificity is at least somewhat delusional.

If you’re “bricklinking” the set.
And it also depends on your value of “good enough”: Do you trace all the parts,
asserting they came from boxes the siblings of the set you’re bricklinking?
Or are you content with “we know these variants were made around that time”?

So even if BL’s catalogue didn’t exist, one could still be proud of owning a
period-specific set.

True. But what does that even mean?

Well, you are the one who used the term

  […]
Because of the aforementioned variability in packaging for a given set, what
real meaning do the words "historically accurate" or "period-specific" even have?

There’s the same thing with cars: there are the “only original parts,” the “we
replaced some parts with others from the same manufacturer and period,” and the
“we used some 3D-printed parts” and so on. And some parts (chassis, engine…)
are more important than others (belts) and even on some important parts, some
modifications are allowed without removing value (remove rusted parts of the
body, weld some new bits).

There’s the same thing with all collectible items.

And the “meaning” of “historically accurate” or “period-specific” is not binary
(is / isn’t), it’s, like about every word, a gradation of what people agree it
is.
It can be discussed precisely, generally between a seller and a buyer, to translate
it in monetary value, but it’ll still be generally fuzzy.

True. But what does that even mean?

I do not have a large personal collection of LEGO parts. I looked through my
parts collection recently to create the attached image of the variants in molded
printing (which BL doesn't even distinguish) for just one part. And I missed
including one in the photo, by the way.

Each part in the photo shows a distinct and separate variant of molded printing,
with the second from the top having none at all. And my rough estimate at this
point is that at least two thirds of all parts have actual mold variants, while
most parts in production for more than a couple years probably have one or many
molded printing variants.

Because of the aforementioned variability in packaging for a given set, what
real meaning do the words "historically accurate" or "period-specific" even have?

Don't know about the delusion so much, but I would be pretty ticked off if
somebody sold me a so-called used complete

3227 Parts, 9 Minifigures, 2009
Sets: Creator: Creator Expert: Fairground Collection
at $1 000 and it included
a bunch of modern cheap variants. Or worse still some early space sets with
the wrong clips, and LBG and DBG parts. It is all relative - someone like me
prefer to deal ith the correct thing at the correct time and I am prepared to
invest the time and effort in it. From experience with return buyers, I know
I am not alone. And yes, I've had buyers ask me to check pips, pins, hole
sizes, clips and mold numbers and send images prior to shipping and also to make
sure the variants and colour differences are correct. Of course I've also
had buyers who just do not care.

I personally would not go as far as to mention closed and open pins and combinations
thereof, but I find for the serious buyer it pays to find serious sellers, catalogue
failings notwithstanding

Thanking you all.

Comments from Submitter:
Upon verifying this set, it appears that there is an alternate head type with is "recessed/closed" and not "blocked/open". Unless this variance should create no concern, a note should be made that this item contains a head variant. A note should also be made to col084, as the minifigure in 853600 could be confused with the original. Or, a new catalog entry should be made for the variant head.

The new head should be added to the catalog first and can then be added as an
alternate to this magnet set.

I've uploaded a face shot of this part. I have the "recessed" stud image,
but it replaces the face shot, so here is the stud image.

Set No: 6265 Name: Sabre Island

79 Parts, 3 Minifigures, 1989
Sets: Pirates: Pirates I: Imperial Soldiers

* Delete 1 Part 2335 White Flag 2 x 2 Square (Alternate) (match ID 2)
* Change 1 Part White 2335p04 Flag 2 x 2 Square with Imperial Soldier Black Symbol over White Cross on Blue Background Pattern {match ID 2 to 0}

Comments from Submitter:
The white flags were added as alternates because of the following change request:
https://www.bricklink.com/messageThread.asp?ID=266509&nID=1191314

The submitter of that request now confirmed that the set with sticker sheet came with a printed small flag:
https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1197982

So I suggest to remove the plain white flag here since there is no evidence yet that it was ever inclueded in this set.

2. In the orders, I would like to keep the ID# of each part. Currently,
only the name of the part is kept.

Hi,

I've actually found a functionality already available in BrickLink interface
to add the part ID# to the orders:
On the "Order Placed" screen, "Settings" "My Orders Settings" / "Order Detail
Settings" / "Show Item Number" tickbox.

Cheers,
Jonathan.

The solution is already there for you. Be sure you have dimensions / weight turned
on for your store and then select the "Instant Checkout Unavailable" box in the
Show More Options section in your store inventory.

Russell, how is it with dimensions of minifigures? I had often an order for 1
minifigure and the option Letter was offered at the instant checkout, because
there are no dimensions for them, and you can imagine, that you cannot send them
as letter, because they are to big for it. Any chance there will be a sollution
for this also, or do we have to put in the dimensions by ourselves?

Check the inventory change log for this set for my changes in December 2012.
I added the variants that I found in my set as alternates at that time. Not sure
when exactly I bought it but based on that request it was at least before December
2012.

  Hi,

Your pictures would be extremely useful, but BrickLink has mangled them into
tiny and therefore unusable sizes. Do you have these uploaded somewhere that
we can access them in large sizes? If not, then can you do that?

Also, do we have your permission to use these photos as catalog images if we
need to?

not found in these sets:

Set No: 6848 Name: Interplanetary Shuttle

47 Parts, 1 Minifigure, 1985
Sets: Space: Classic Space

All pictures that I have checked of set 6882 have solid studs, but none appear
to come from sealed sets.

I checked my set 6391 and it has 4345a. So that leaves only one of these sets
where we don't have the solid stud variant confirmed.

As far as I know,

Part No: 4345 Name: Container, Box 2 x 2 x 2
*
4345 Container, Box 2 x 2 x 2
Parts: Container
is currently "undetermined", i.e. the part entry does not give any information
regarding the stud type.

See https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=940

"Container, Box 2 x 2 x 2 - This entry will be replaced by an entry for the hollow
stud version. A catalog entry already exists for the solid stud version."

On the page where you can edit the 'mystore' message templates
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/mystore/message_templates.page (see picture 1)

please add the link that is used on the "Customize Wanted List Notification"
page
https://www.bricklink.com/mailTempDetail.asp?ID=6&viewFrom=W (see picture 2)

This would be a great help for sellers when searching this subject and it can
easily be done within the current so called spaghetti code

The result could look like the second picture attached to this post.

I am very careful about my inventory, but lately I have been short parts that
were sold. Has anyone had problems with sold parts not being removed from their
inventory and appearing to still be available for sale?

Is BrickLink your only store?

Yes it is, i am attaching a photo of 2 orders from 2 different buyers that ordered
the same part. One buyer ordered 1 2x2 tile and the other ordered 2. Problem
is that my inventory left says 48 on both. This has happened multiple times.
A seller might buy the last of a particular part and then another person is still
able to buy, because my available inventory wasn’t adjusted by the BrickLink
software.

I think you are a bit mistaken here.
But it depends on when you printed both orders. Did you do that after both orders
came in, or did you print the first one before the second one came in?
I think the first.

BL shows the remaining inventory at the time you open that order, not how much
it is after that 1 order, but how it will be after all open orders have been
gathered form inventory.

In other words, after gathering both orders, how many of those 2x2 tiles do you
really have left. I think when you count them, there will be 48.
