| It would be good for consistency in the catalog description if all instances
of numbers were either integers or words, not arbitrarily some of each.
So:
Three eyeballs, Three earlobes
or
3 eyeballs, 3 earlobes
not
Three eyeballs, 3 earlobes
...that kind of thing.
There are pros and cons for each option. Please investigate how the search mechanism
works to see which option yields better results.

| I have come across a few tiles with stickers that are not in the catalog.
, nor in their set inventory.
How do I go about determining the Sticker # when Adding to the catalog.
For example one is a 87079pb###, how do I determine the last few digits?

Author: | StormChaser | Posted: | Feb 7, 2020 14:45 | Subject: | February Roadmap Project: Old and New | Viewed: | 243 times | Topic: | Catalog | Status: | Open
|
| We are finally making serious headway with the catalog backlog. The catalog
change requests queue is cleared out.
In the spirit of trying to ensure that the Catalog Roadmap is not just something
to look at, I am continuing with the goal of moving through one project each
month. We have essentially had a January project (flesh to nougat) and there
is a new project starting today for February:
https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2476
What is this project?
This project involves accurately describing the differences between early (old)
versions of an item and later (new) versions. We need this for two reasons:
1. Using the words "old" and "new" were easy ways to avoid having to describe
actual differences between items. Set numbers in minifigure titles performed
the same function, which is why they were removed.
2. When a third version of an item appears, the old/new descriptors are useless.
Similar items should be described by their differences (usually the way in which
the later version is different from the earlier version).
There are around 500-1000 items expected to be affected by this project.
How can members contribute?
For the immediate moment, members may contribute by submitting title change requests.
I'm not sure how we're going to do item numbers yet, so hold off on
those. If you're not confident that you know exactly what this project entails
or need clarification on a specific issue, then please ask before submitting
a request.
For the immediate moment, ignore the additional topic bundled with this project
(looking at the use of with/without in titles). We may be able to include that,
or it may need to be made its own project. This project should also look at
the use of early/later descriptors since they serve the same function as the
terms old/new.
The goal is to wrap this up by the end of February. Of course, we also have
catalog work still to do and that takes precedence over projects - so this may
run over schedule.

Author: | Brick.Door | Posted: | Feb 7, 2020 10:39 | Subject: | 30374 Bar 1x4 Frosted Variant | Viewed: | 84 times | Topic: | Catalog | Status: | Open
|
| Found some frosted trans-light-blue 1x4 bars in a set recently and I'm not
comfortable mixing them with my current inventory. They are quite different and
I don't think a customer who orders several would be happy getting a mixture.
The additional notes state:
"Alternate item number 28697 is used for transparent colors. This mold variant
has no bubbles and number 28697 molded on it. It has been found in two variations
clear and frosted as showed on additional images."
So it seems the catalog admins are aware of the difference and have decided not
to reflect it in the catalog here? Personally I think this is a mold variation
worth recognizing.

| The old dragster set has a white correction sheet for step 16. It has a part
number on the page that doesn't show up in searches (120356).
Am I missing the entry somewhere? If not, should an entry exist? Or a note with
the instructions entry? (I could have sworn I had seen a note about this previously...)
Thanks!!

Interesting, more than ten years and almost nobody noticed it.
(OK I understand we can see them only from the front as they never retreat when
they attack so you can't see their back )
Interesting in our catalog torso is showed without long line.
According to the information which I found here
http://minifigs.nl/swminifigs/mfnl-shadow-ms.html
one with long line could be from magnet set from 2009.
* | | 852715 (Inv) Magnet Set, Minifigures SW (3) - Darth Vader, Snowtrooper, Shadow Trooper - with 2 x 4 Brick Bases blister pack Gear: Magnet: Star Wars |
so from sets which were issued earlier 2007 and 2008 could be one with short
line
My with short line is from set
I have also two in my collection with long line but bought them years ago loose
without sets.
I submitted both as new as in this case sw0166 should be marked for deletion
as we don't know which one is currently sell under this entry.

| When adding photos to the catalogue, can you only add 1 at a time for the same
part?
I just added 2 photos of a new part that i added to the catalogue, one a rendered
photo and the other showing the part from 2 angles. Now it only shows the second
photo i added and the other has disappeared.
Cheers

| Hi
For now as we have more changes in discussion, can't we put the colours back
to how they were. I'm sure a few more days/weeks of flesh isn't going
to hurt us.
Then discuss with the Lego Company regarding changing all colours to their colours
- we are part of their group. What they say will be correct !!

| I had a crazy week last week and didn't get a chance to manually pull my
Brickarms inventory before Lego kicked it off the site. I was hoping it would
be somewhere that I can still see what I had in my inventory. Does anyone know
if this is possible? Otherwise, I have absolutely no way to find them in my shelves
without access to the old listing details. Am I just going to have to stumble
across them over time as I pull other orders and see them? I was hoping they
would go into stockroom with no option to relist or something like that, not
just completely disappear. I should have screenshotted it so I had a record of
my previous inventory and its location, but didn't get a chance to between
when I saw the notice and when they pulled the listings.

| in your list of item for the 1880 set, you mention 3 of the green plant flower
stem (3741), but to complete the set you need 4.
Also, you listed 4 green window 1X2X3 shutter, which is the case, but on the
original list of pieces, there is 8 listed, I don't know why.

|
| I can't help myself from returning to this topic.
It is not right to erase people who have contributed to the catalog and turn
them into a meaningless number (and a username that rhymes with "loser.").
The first attached image shows people who have contributed a set inventory to
the catalog. For each person it was only one inventory, but it was time they
took out of their day or week to make a contribution.
The second image shows people who have added items to the catalog. One person
added 113 items. Another added 97 items. Yet another added 87 items. And so
on down the list.
Some of these unregistered users are no doubt dead. Some have moved on to new
pursuits. Some may be in a coma or in prison. Who knows why any one person
hasn't logged on or may never log on again?
BrickLink wants contributions. BrickLink wants an involved community. But when
BrickLink treats former contributors so dismissively, by erasing them into meaninglessness,
it makes me think they have no respect for contributors.
BrickLink contributors deserve better treatment than this. Anonymizing people
who have contributed to the catalog was a poor decision. It was a careless and
heartless decision.
I urge the site to reconsider the decision to anonymize any former catalog and
inventory contributors.

| I feel like Bill in that I find myself making observations and then posting them
in the forum whilst saying, "Hmmmm." This is my Bill moment.
I just searched for the Where Are My Pants person from The LEGO Movie. The system
excluded 75% of my keywords. So . . . what's the point of titling this character
this way if 75% of the title is useless?
Wouldn't it be better to simply title him "Pants Guy" and leave it at that?

| Hi,
I recently purchased a used 7662 MTT set. Instead of the 4460a reddish-brown
slopes listed in the BrickLink inventory, it came 4460b slope. I also noticed
the set listed 4460b slopes in DBG as a counterpart. I know it is a longshot,
but could someone who purchased this set brand new check if their set's 4460
slope has hollow studs or open studs. Thank You!
