I've thought this for a long time now; I agree and for exactly the same reasons.
It's a shame, as some U.S. sellers have great part-lists and excellent sales
- all negated by postage, import duty and P.O. charges (that are generally MUCH
higher than the actual duty).

brings to mind an idea that briefly visited my headspace some time ago:
A type of reverse want list. That is, a way that sellers could peruse the current
want lists to specific buyer's needs, to then as a seller, proactively engage
members like Wayne with offers on items they have on their want list.
Kinda like amping-up the want list and selling process, by getting the sellers
more involved in increasing their sales by actually selling 
It's just a rough draft of an idea. Limitations, restriction and other refinements
of the idea, expected.
But hey, BL shot-callers, it speaks directly to upping the sales numbers!

I'd really like to express, before I've had my cup of joe on this fine
morning, how much I appreciated the people (yes all the people) here on the forum.
After receiving emails of encouragement, critic, praise and ideas regarding this
posted suggestion, it struck home for me just how many read the forum without
participating.

For an exemple it could be a new COLOR category : decorated.
Or as for my exemple, it is a black part with decoration, so to put it in the
BLACK color.

So basically having Goatleg.com as a feature to Bricklink
or try searching 2440*
Then it will list all 2440 items decorated or not.

WOULD HELP A LOT in searches.

To narrow it down further - click Market, then click Search, then use this criteria
to find any decorated 2440 in black.
Only the ones inventoried to a set will show, but this definitely helps when
you're looking for a specific decorated item in a certain color as some of
the parts like tiles have a ton of decorated variations of all colors.
