In this inventory second variant is in the alternate section. This way in the
inventory is showed that in this set both variants can occur. No other notes
is needed.

There are two schools of thought on this and good arguments can definitely be
made for both positions. You have presented one side well and I will present
the other side:
1. Frequency of appearance is not currently the deciding factor in the
inclusion of an extra part in a set inventory. Should it be? I don't believe
so. How could you reasonably set a quantity of appearances before an extra is
allowed into an inventory?
2. I've never heard a convincing explanation of why any extra parts
are included in any sets, although I've certainly heard a number of theories.
Extra sticker sheets certainly don't appear to be consistent extras, but
should intentionality on the part of TLG be the deciding factor on including
extras in an inventory? I don't believe so, or at least not until we can
conclusively define (based on convincing evidence) the circumstances regarding
extra parts and their appearance in sets.
3. It is possible that extra sticker sheet extras are more common than
any of us realize, even if only packing errors. If we're not keeping any
records of their appearance in sets, then how would we truly know?
4. Extra sticker sheets fit the definition of extra parts as well as
any other extra part does. They appear in some sets and not in others. Should
we base decisions on extra parts on anything other than the fact that they came
in a set and were extra? I don't believe so.
But, perhaps Marek and Randy can produce some guidelines for us on how extra
sticker sheets should be handled in set inventories considering the positions
we've outlined.

We may have differing opinions on this - not sure because we've never discussed
it. My opinion is that a sticker is a part. We consider it a part and TLG considers
it a part and includes it in the part count.
If you have an extra one of these parts, then I believe it fits the definition
of an extra part and should be included in the set inventory as such:
Were sticker sheets systematically included as extras in some sets in the way
that other parts are? We really don't know, since we haven't been keeping
data on extra appearances. The current inventory guidelines don't address
how frequently an extra must appear in order to be added to the inventory, but
the unwritten rule has been one time.
What are your thoughts?
|
In my experience extra sticker sheets are caused by packing errors and they are
not systematically included as extras. This is supported by the fact that I've
bought multiples of the same set from the same supplier and found an extra sheet
in only one of the sets.
In my opinion extras should only be extra parts that Lego put in sets for at
least one production run of the set. For example there are some sets that were
first produced before 1x1 plates were included as extras but later production
runs did include them as extras. For those sets I support the inclusion of them
as extra parts.
But the sticker sheets were clearly not intended to be included as extra parts
and don't appear often enough to justify including them as extra parts.

I too have received an extra sticker sheet a time or two, but never frequently
or consistently. For example, parting out 10 copies of a set, and ending up
with 11 sticker sheets. The extra sticker sheet seems more like a packing error
by TLG, and as such, I don't think I would add them as extras in the set
inventory.
I don't think sticker sheets were ever systematically included as extra parts,
in the way that 1x1 plates, technic pins, and other small parts commonly are.

I agree!

1x black brick 1x2
2x black plate 1x1 clip horizontal
2x black slope inverted 75 2x1x3
1x black tile 1x4
But then in the extra parts section of set 10205 are 2x black panel 1x2x3 (2362b).
Shouldn't these two panels also be moved to the regular section?
Or should all these parts be moved to the 'extra' section as the secondary
model is not in the instructions?
|
You are definitely correct in noticing that there is a problem with this inventory,
so thank you for bringing this to our attention!
The current definition for what constitutes a Regular Item in an inventory on
BrickLink is shown here from https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=1562
"Regular Items - All parts required to build the main model and any secondary
models, plus any other items on the official parts list. In the absence of a
parts list, the instructions, box images, and official part count may be used
to determine as closely as possible the constitution of the Regular section."
So let's go down the list...
Are these parts shown in the main model or any secondary models? No, so this
first criteria points to all of these parts as being extras.
Are these parts shown on the official parts list? There is no official parts
list, so this criteria is inconclusive and directly leads us to the last criteria.
Are the parts shown in the instructions? No.
Are the parts shown on the box images? No.
Are the parts included in the official part count? YES!
The box clearly states that there are 234 parts included in the set. Right now,
the BrickLink inventory lists 232 parts. Therefore, the panels in the Extra Items
section should be included in the Regular Items section. The LEGO Replacement
Parts website also confirms that all of the parts you listed as not being used
in the instructions *were* included in the set.
In conclusion, the inventory will be updated to move the panels to the Regular
Items section.
Thank you for contributing to the accuracy of the BrickLink catalog.
Cheers,
Randy

The inventory for this set was in a state of waiting for additional stuff to

There are two (retired) sets for the Winter Toy Shop set, 10199 and 10249. I
get that one was released in '09 and the other in 2015, and there seems to
be a few bricks more in the second one. But looking at pictures I really can't
seem to pinpoint the differences.
Does anyone know off the top? I just want to know if it's worth the price
difference on the market.
Thanks!

| Hello Vintage Lego Collectors!
I have just inventoried the elusive 1064-1 set from 1981
I got this superRARE set from a Swedish guy in 2017.
This Dacta set, according to him, was given for free to pediatric departments.
That's why so few survived.
The set is composed by a box, 6 cardboards instructions, 396 bricks&parts and
6 minifigures
There are 6x different instructions, 1 for each miniset included in the box.
Each instruction is printed on cardboard and also depicts a visual inventory
of each miniset.
I am very proud that now ALL Vintage Dacta Town sets have been inventoried!!!

When you click on it no changes are shown. You might report this as a bug.

There is no link to inv change log on inventory page for this but
"...inventoried this Set on Oct 3, 2003, inventory last updated on Oct 19, 2003."
There is more such things, yesterday I notice this also here
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?M=sw052
Admin inventoried this Minifig on Feb 6, 2003, inventory last updated on Feb
7, 2003.
Here is only one day of difference but also no change log.
Was there any inventory change log invented on Bricklink in 2003? I think not
and that is why this discrapancy. Check here
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogLogs.asp?utm_content=subnav
for inventories first logs are from 2004 for catalog from 2005.

Marek and Randy, what I noticed with a few of these sets around 1990 is that
there were typically two editions - an early version without the separator and
a later version with the separator. I added an inventory note to at least one

I would like to see the absence of data simply as zeros, so like any other item,
I can discern how well that part sells. Seeing that this part basically never
sells is more certain information than seeing nothing at all.
The absence of the price guide makes it look like a catalog error.

shows as an option in the one set it appears in:
Red variant shown in set inventory that gives price guide AND green variant.
I'm not sure if this is a duplicate page issue or the price doesn't
show for pieces that have no sales, which it should imo, because otherwise at
first glance it looks like the piece does not exist in the catalog.

I think that this part on photo is LBG but due to lighting conditions could be
overexposured when taking photo. Model is black mainly so camera could had longer

I didn't have the complete set when it arrived at my home, and upon dismantling

I'm stuck on 1 part.
It's the LBG 1x9 lift arms that have a stickered anti-slip tread pattern.
I can see one in the main image as above, and it seems to be on a WHITE 1x9 lift
arm, (underneath the driver's door) but there are no White 1x9 arms listed
within the set's inventory.
Can anyone verify whether this is indeed the case?
Also, if anyone has the whole set, can you let me know how many of the stickers
were applied to the appropriate lift arms and what colour they were, as the sticker
sheet is showing 6 of the anti-slip treads, and there are 5 of the LBG lift arms

Hi stickers must be always applied as instruction shows. If instruction is imprecise
then official photos of model should be check. In this case it easy.
Two stickers with anti-slip tread pattern are applied to LBG 1x9 liftarms.
Instruction book2 pages 20 and 22

Four are applied to four black 1x8 tiles

Thank you so much for that.
The tile is obviously what has stumped me as I have those as well..
I'll be adding that as well too...

Minifigure inventories, by the way, can't include alternate parts. Okay,
so here is what I did:
1. Every affected minifigure in both sets now include inventory notes.
2. Both sets now include inventory notes.
3. Both sets now include the other heads as alternates. This is a new approach
which Marek and I are trying out.
This should correct all the issues you raised.
Three of the four possible variants have been confirmed to have appeared, so
the fourth variant (black eyebrows, blocked stud: 3626bpb0628) is the only one
I added without having confirmation that it appeared in the sets. I think the
likelihood that this variant would have appeared in these very popular sets at
some point in their production run was high enough to include it.
|
Thanks for taking care in such a short while!
I will go on putting them in my inventory tomorrow with an extra note and link
to the description.
Have a nice weekend!

| I have 2 Lego education sets, 9348 and 9349.
In both sets the males have head 3626bpb0628 (head with black eyebrows) instead
of 3626bpb0121 (head with brown eyebrows).
In both sets the heads are not even with different eyebrows but also with stud
recessed instead of blocked open stud with triangle.
There is a note below the 22 minifigs of set 9348 regarding the two possible
different heads, not with the set 9349.
Also only a note below the list of 22 minifigs, NOT with the individual minifigs.
Eventhough the minifigs of set 9348 have a note regarding the black instead of
brown eyebrows I think this would not be enough, it does not show on a picture
or with the minifig inventory.
So it is very rudimentary in my opinion.
Although I have the minifigs in hands I do not have the possibility anymore to
upload the right minifigs due to the use of an iPad. Bricklink needs a code below
the minifig and parts, this cannot be done with an iPad.
Bricklink cadmin can make a note below set 9349 like with set 9348 but I think
this is not the real Bricklinkway.
If customers do not read the line below the 22 minifigs they might believe they
received the wrong minifig because inventory does not show the alternate head
and because the note regarding the different heads/eyebrows do not show at the
minifigure itself.
What can be done with this isue due to the lack of a laptop/computer?

that the 7261-2 uses 8 more of the pins with stop bush than the 7261-1. 4 of
them are accounted for in my previous pictures.
For the remaining ones, from my previous pictures, you could see 2 additional
black pins - these also end up being pins with the stop bush (Page 45 Step 8
to Page 49 Step 17).
Then lastly, Page 55-56, Step 7 to 11 is where the remaining pins with stop bush
are used differently.
I also think that there was a difference in the colour of the 4x4265c Tan versus
Yellow.

Thank you mandr for the pictures and helping me out.
I do now have the link to the instructions I am looking for.

| There are a number of places where Black pins are used instead of LBG:
a) Step 5 Page 22: 4 black plus 4 LBG INSTEAD of 8 LBG
b) Step 23 Page 30: 2 black plus 2 LBG INSTEAD of 4 LBG
c) Step 25 Page 32: 2 black plus 2 LBG INSTEAD of 4 LBG
Back to the original question, on Page 46 step 12: The way the two tan connectors
#1 connect to the assembly are different as per the pictures. One uses two black
pins, and the other uses two pins with stop bush. There is another difference
in the pictures, but
I'll look a bit further into it.

Both versions of instructions are available from Brickset. Here is a list of

| I pieced together a clone turbo tank from a lot I bought. I gathered the parts
for the version 7261-1 with the Light up Mace Windu. Now I am trying to build
the set from instructions online and they all have the parts for the non-light
up version (at least from the parts list on here). The instructions even show
the light-up fig but have the parts for the non-light up one.
I am not home so I don't have access to the other parts to switch it over
and I also have the light up fig not the non-light up figure so I would like
to build it for 7261-1.
Can anyone direct me to the instructions or how to use
in place of these?
I'm confused and any help would be appreciated .

I don't believe so, but you can check the list of items pending approval
here:
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogPend.asp
There are hundreds (if not thousands) of stickered counterparts which have not
been added to the catalog.

Those parts are called stickered counterparts. You can find some of them for
this set in the inventory. The others have not yet been added to the catalog.
To add them to your store inventory as official parts you would need to first
add them to the BrickLink catalog. Otherwise, you may sell them as custom items.

I added about half of them and still haven't gotten around to the other half.
Honestly, since you have the items there in front of you it might be better
if you added them to the catalog yourself. You have more knowledge of these
older items than I do and you can add weights, dimensions, years, etc. whereas
I cannot.
To RobErNat:
There is no compensation that I am able to offer for inventories. As for what
BrickLink offers, you already know what that is and I don't believe it will
change in the immediate future.
As for people being less proactive on submitting inventories, it's hard to
say with any degree of certainty. We're definitely doing pretty well with
this year's sets (659 sets released so far in 2018 and about 91% have been
inventoried). However, at least 236 of this year's sets (just over a third
of them) were inventoried by BL employees or volunteers.
Historically, that seems fairly normal. BrickLink staff have always supplied
a high number of inventories going back to when the site was first launched.
If you look at the credits for sets inventoried, 6 of the top 10 contributors
are (or were) BrickLink staff members.
To mfav:
I believe that you're saying the part assembly shown in your photo should
be included in the catalog? You're welcome to submit it and see what happens.
There are still no rules on what will or won't be accepted when it comes
to part assemblies.

Which includes 'items marked for deletion'
It will be hard to get those inventoried
Granted, only a few among those 410
I might be wrong, but I'm sensing people seem to be less pro active on submitting
inventories, maybe the current 'offer' ain't good enough
For instance, I notice a lot of 'Lego brand Store' kits are uninventoried,
I got a few (like 'several' from that list, but hey, they will drop
value if I start on them, any specific compensation you're able to offer?

Looks like there is plenty to do in the Catalog add or change section.

Inventory Admins manage 'inventories', not 'catalog entries',
that's for the cadmins to handle...
I know, it's confusing: 2 teams working 2 sides of the database
