Hi,

3 weeks ago I messaged an overseas seller's store to ask if I could have
an approximate cost for shipping an item to Australia, as shipping to here can
sometimes cost more than the item being purchased.
The seller still hasn't read my message. Am I doing something wrong?
Usually I would request a quote, but the seller did not have that option, so
I messaged the store, because the seller doesn't want to be contacted.
Does the seller just ignore messages relating to shipping cost, as they don't
want to waste time trying to find the cost of shipping unless they know I'm
going to buy, or do they not check their store messages?

I would appreciate any help.

does he even send to your country?

The truth is, nobody really knows. There over 18,000 stores on Bricklink and
with it over 18,000 personalities, work ethics, motivations... And none of us
are bound by any standards and practices.

Personally, I would have you a quote within 10 hours, but I'm a one man band
with a tiny shop in my basement. I'm retired and do this for extra vacation
money.

Other people might have small shops as well but have full time jobs. They usually
put in their terms what shipping and response times might be.

Others have actual brick and mortar stores with staffs and the headaches that
come with that.

And then there are just real life emergencies. I just found out that a seller
I had a rough experience with last year was sick and recently passed away. Looking
through the feedbacks it seemed like his wife/daughter/sister was trying to figure
out what to do and fix things but the store got shut down.

Check their feedbacks and see what kind of activity they've had in the past
three weeks. IF they're active, email again. IF they aren't, move on.

YOu are correct though, shipping to Oceania from other continents is brutally
high, but that's on the couriers, not the stores.

The seller has had a few orders in the past few days, so I will message again
and see if I get a reply.

Don’t worry you arnt doing anything wrong. Some sellers simply don’t respond
to certain questions and it’s not your fault it’s just what they decided to do
