IANAL(I Am Not A Lawyer) but I think when you become a credit card manager you
need to become a clearing house. The rules in the USA alone in the last few years
have gone crazy when it comes to clearing houses. They have increased scrutiny
for money laundering and terrorism. These rules come down through the IRS and
FDIC. The FDIC is concerned because more or cash is being stored in places
like PayPal and outside the oversight of registered and protected banking systems.
I just don't think it is in the lego groups interest to become a financial
institution when other companies like stripe and paypal are experts in their
fields.
