| I do not know who makes the decision on part variance they decide to put on Bricklink.
I do not like as a buyer or seller there decisions. Who cares if a part has a
line or not. However head variances are period correct variances. So are torso
ribs. Not as concerned about shapes of holes or number of teeth. However I spent
a lot listing the variances and now more to keep them separate. Plus every time
they move things to a different category because they think they know better
even if it makes no sense. It creates more work for sellers moving there inventory
around and trying to remember were it is now. Just one mans opinion

Not all of them. Some heads overlap in time, and some figures have been found
with one of two different concurrent heads. Sometimes this is recorded, sometimes
not.

You seem to care about some variations but not others. Some people will care
about ones you don't care about, and others won't care about ones you
do. It is a difficult balance.

Why would you need to move inventory around or try to remember where you have
stored it, just because a part changes category? Leave a storage location in
the remarks.

| I have all my parts sorted with a Remark on every single item..
So I guess this merging does not affect any remarks do they?

No. They have already said they won't merge lots in a store. You might end
up with two lots of the (now) same thing, in different locations but each with
their own remarks.
