| I saw a discussion about the risks of giving out images that other people might
use, but I haven’t been able to find it again. I thought of including a sign
with the name of my store in the image, but people could just crop that out.
I could post the item alongside a newspaper like for new seller verification,
but then I’d have to take a new image every day. Are there better methods for
preventing someone from stealing images? Is this why people ask people to contact
them for images in the lot descriptions instead of just posting them?

In general it’s best to just use stock photos and use a detailed description
to explain its condition and if a buyer reached out you can send photos if you
want but I wouldn’t worry about having custom images for everything as I’ve sold
multiple $500+ sealed sets with stock photos to 0 feedback users who never asked
for pictures and they were happy with their purchase so in general stock photos
do the job well

I’m also a bit nervous that I might miss some flaw in my description. I’m hoping
to sell some valuable minifigures I uncovered in my childhood collection. I
don’t understand why someone would pay so much for minifigures, so I’m not sure
what things they might object to.

Yah it’s crazy at times what they sell for
The best practice is to just always be very thorough when checking and describing
parts for damage and it’s always best to over describe instead of under describe.
For figures which you mentioned you have key things to look out for are cracks
on the feet, sides of the torso, arms, and neck of the head. For the legs and
torso if you insert another set of legs and slightly rotate them that can help
find cracks and as long as you did similar checks and describe the conditions
you find they you should be good to go

I see a lot of my images on eBay these days and I am offended because it is theft,
but eBay won't do anything and I honestly have trouble articulating any way
that I am hurt by it. What do you fear will happen when a picture is stolen?

Any buyer that is careful enough when spending multiple $100s on an expensive
item can image search in seconds anyway. If it is an image obviously taken in
someone's home and it matches an image found online, to me that is an indication
that the seller doesn't have the item.
If people want to stop other people using their images, it is simple enough to
put their username and the site name across the middle of the image so it cannot
be cropped out but the product can still be seen.
