On average how much does it worth for used Lego sets which have not retired or
have retired for a short time only e.g. a few years?

I want to buy some used Lego sets for fun on the secondary market. However, prices
on the secondary market could vary greatly, depending purely on thoughts of the
sellers. However, I am just asking for a reference. For example, when you see
this price e.g. cost per piece, you will probably pay for it shortly.

I know it may depend on themes. Well, How about Creator Expert, City, Star Wars?
I am only interested in these themes.

It depends how popular they are, how much supply and demand. If not very popular,
you can often get a recently retired used City set for about 60-70% RRP. But
a retired used Creator Expert modular could be 150% or more depending on the
demand.

Lately, Bricklink offers the cheapest way to get a used set, unless you get really
lucky on a local purchase.

At least in the US, you see lots of local marketplace postings that say "used
set at average Bricklink price" for example. Well, why not just buy a cheaper
one on Bricklink and get the security of a 100% complete used set and Paypal
backing.

In other words, for whatever used set you're looking to purchase, just look
at what the average 6 month sold price on Bricklink is and compare that price
to the price of original MSRP (available on a site like brickset).
