I placed an order in Derbyshire, UK on the 9th of January. It was invoiced, paid
for, and shipped on the 10th of January.
I messaged the seller on the 25 of January asking for a tracking number. Normally
I would wait a little longer, but I had already received an order from Australia
and an order from Italy that day which had both been placed on the 9th of January
and paid for immediately as they were IC (instant checkout) orders.

On the 28th of January I read a post in the forum about the ransomware attack
Royal Mail had on the 10th of January, same day as my order was shipped out,
so I again contacted my seller asking "if my order had even shipped out yet
or was it still sitting in a Royal Mail shipping center. Any communication from
you would be appreciated."
Finally on the 30th of January the seller communicated.
This is their message

" Hello Cass, thanks for your message. Sorry to hear that you haven't
received your order yet. It was sent within a few days of your order, but I think
it was just sent via International Standard Parcel and not tracked. I will have
a look at the receipt today and let you known. We have had postal strikes over
here causing delays. "
I responded by asking him to please check to see if my order had been shipped
yet.
On the 4th of February, the seller sent me another message.
" Hello, sorry for the delay in this message. I’m afraid that I can’t be
any help at the moment. I have been chasing the Royal Mail, but they can’t tell
me where you’re parcel - they say there will delays and can’t look into it properly
until at least 4 weeks after posting which was the 10th January.
I hope it turns up in the meantime and I have emailed you a copy of the receipt
and proof of postage.

I did get the e-mail with a receipt, but the picture sucks and I cannot read
anything on it. It is now the 17th of February and I still do not have my order.

I have not heard back from the seller since the last message on the 4th of February.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I should proceed at this point? I really
don't want to file an NSS yet because I believe the seller did post my order,
but it has been over 5 weeks now and I am starting to worry.

Apparently Royal Mail doesn’t seem to know what has happened to some of the international
mail, it’s disappeared into a black hole and may yet turn up.

Sorry to hear yours may be one of them but can’t offer any advice as it’s all
very confusing.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I should proceed at this point.

You have plenty of time to file a not received complaint and you know that there
are some serious international delays. So you can either wait and file later
if needs be, or file now then apologise and resend the money later if it shows
up.

Unless there is any common pattern in feedback, if the seller has said it is
posted and they show a receipt of posting then chances are they posted it.

The seller posting my order is not in question. I know they shipped it!
What is in question is if there is anything MORE I can do on my side of things.
I do not want to file on this seller yet. I know the damage that can do to a
shop. I was hoping there was something that could be done through Royal Mail
to find out if it has even left their shipping center.
Let me put it in a way a seller may understand why I am pushing on options without
filing here.
A buyer places an order-then asks for a week to hold their order open, so they
have time to add more parts. The seller agrees. All the parts from the 1st batch
are now on hold in hopes that the buyer places the second batch and then pays
for the whole order. Instead, the buyer explains that he is still processing
a collection and could he have 1 more week.
The seller again agrees seeing that the buyer has now done 2 batches. At the
end of the second week there isn't any communication from the buyer. The
seller then has to file a NPB and wait another 7 days (5 days?) for the buyer
to respond / pay. The seller's stock has now been tied up for a minimum of
3 weeks, never hears from the buyer, and now has to restock all the parts that
did not get bought.
My situation is similar. I restore Lego sets and sell them. That order has 19
sets tied up until I get those parts. 19 sets I cannot sell that are taking up
storage space because I cannot move them until they are complete. OR I can choose
to forgo that order rebuy the parts in some other shop, file an NSS, hurt my
seller in the process but get part of my inventory moving again.

I would like to know "what is behind door number 3, Jim!

Unfortunately not if there is no tracking. If the seller files for a loss with
the RM, the proof of posting "investigation" is not really an investigation
into where the parcel is. It is more a check about whether it is a legitimate
claim. So that wouldn't help in your case.
