| Hi everyone,
I would like to get some feedback on how people store their spare minifigure
heads?
I have a lot of spare heads I use to complete figures but there is no easy way
to store, see and access them. Currently it takes a lot of time to hunt for them
even after trying my best to group them.
just interested in seeing what people do so they can access and pick them quickly.
Thank you!

| I like to stack them on top of eachother with similar color, male female, animal,
theme etc so you can easily look at a stack of faces not have to dig through
a pile

I attach them to 1x or 2x plates and bricks that are faded or scratched. The
heads can be several high or single on the plates. The plates are then put in
a shallow tray or box on their side with all the heads facing the same way. Hundreds
can be in a 9x 12 inch box used for labels. Any shallow box will work and they
can be stacked on each other to save space. They can also fit in storage drawers
and other systems.
I arrange them by theme or feature such as mustache, eye patch,or a special color.

You could use the stock room feature on Bricklink inventory and use either a,
b, or c to assign locations. I don't know how you store your parts container
wise but if it's a drawer or drawesque system it should be pretty easy to
find each head even with several in the same container.

Head sorter. 3D printed. Found the STL online. FI forget where but it was
just a Lego head sorter search.

Minifigure heads are probably one of the main types of item I sell and I generally
store them by theme and the character they relate to therefore all my Star Wars
heads will be grouped together in cabinets with the name of each character labelled
on each of the draws (labelled grip seal bags within boxes work just as well).
Obviously you may have several different head versions for the same character
but I rarely find it too much trouble to pick the correct one between them but
if I did I would label them slightly different such as Han 1, Han 2, Han 3 etc…
On the same token if the head is used on multiple different characters then I
will choose to label both my stock and Bricklink inventory by whichever name
I feel most appropriate so if we go right in there with a tricky head like this
that is used on lots of different characters:-
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=3626cpb2108&in=M
You may choose to label the Head ‘Cedric’ and store with your Harry Potter heads
because it’s been used on that character more than any other or you may choose
to label it ‘Han Solo’ and store with your Star Wars heads because you are more
likely to use these heads for building this character? Or maybe you will label
it ‘Ikaris’ simply because this seems like a more unique name to give the head?
Either which way it doesn’t matter as long as your physical stock and bricklink
inventory are labelled with the same name you should be able to locate your heads
efficiently
Generally speaking I find it much easier locating heads by reading off and looking
for a character name compared with number references and it doesn’t matter what
minifigure you may intend to build you can just look up what you’ve labelled
the head as and say to yourself “Ah right to build some Ikaris minfiigures I
will need some Cedric heads” and you will therefore know to locate them among
your Harry Potter heads for example
Just to be clear use the ‘My Remarks’ field to label your inventory on Bricklink
either using a numbering or naming system. As already mentioned when it comes
to heads I label by character names but for other parts like hair I label and
store by Design I.D

I keep yellow and light nougat heads bagged and sorted by their 2-4 digit number
from the catalog (3626cpb#### or 3636bpx##)... grouped by 100s so I never have
to search more than, say, the 0300s for something. The rest are organized by
color and pretty easy to find.
I had tried to organize by characteristic (double sided, smiles, glasses, etc)
but found I'd missort or lose parts too often and generally spend a TON of
extra time when first sorting or building minifigs.
