| Greetings all & happy holidays!
I am new here and haved a rather large quantity of bulk used LEGO that I am currently
sorting and processing. What I have pretty much runs the spectrum of bricks,
windows, panels, plate, technic etc.
What I am wondering is if there is a higher demand for one type of brick/plate
etc that I should prioritize getting posted to my inventory to sell ? I woud
like to get the items in highest demand posted ASAP
I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or input.
Thank! Jamey

Since we do not know how familiar you are with LEGO and how it is categorized
and cataloged at BrickLink, it may be hard to make suggestions to you.
Trying to determine what is highest demand is quite difficult. Certain parts
in certain colors are in higher demand than others.
I would suggest starting with whatever items you have in the largest quantities.
I would suggest starting with whatever items you have that are sorted/separated
the best.
For example, if you have already sorted all of your Slopes down to each specific
part type, then go ahead and list those first. Items that are still mixed together
can wait.
I would suggest starting with whatever items you are most familiar with.
Depending on how closely you wish to scrutinize prices, it may be faster or more
efficient to use third-party software such as BRICKSTORE to list your items
individually, since BrickStore will show you price averages automatically. There
are other advantages to creating BrickStore files for your inventory, too, such
as being able to save a permanent record of your starting inventory. My only
caution to using BrickStore is to make sure you remember to change colors --
I have found it too easy to enter the next item as the same color as the previous
entry.
It is not always best practice to list all high-demand items first. Listing
some of the slower-selling categories like Animals, Wedges, Wheels & Tires means
that those items will be able to sell when you also have some of the faster-moving
stuff available, too.
General TIP:
A lot of the work of listing parts is to first IDENTIFY exactly what items you
have in your hand. Once you successfully identify something that could get mixed
up with something else, it may be very helpful to LABEL those items with the
BL part numbers. You don't wanna hafta keep looking up the same items over
and over. Use whatever label system works for you -- most people write the
number on the bag or on small bits of paper.
Having stuff labeled with the correct color or part number can be extremely helpful
in so many ways, especially in saving time and preventing errors while picking
and packing orders.
* * *
In my experience, it is much faster to list all of the same parts in all colors
at the same time rather than listing everything of the same color at the same
time.
For example, it is faster to list all of your 1x4 bricks in every color at one
time than it is to list all of your Blue bricks and then all of your Green bricks
and then all of your Yellow bricks. The biggest reason is the time saved in
not looking up the part numbers for the same parts over and over.
If you know how to manually change the URL of the catalog pages, you can save
a lot of time when looking up prices. For example, when you are listing 1x4
bricks, you first look up the price for Black 1x4 bricks which has color code
= 11. Then, you can manually change the URL to show you the price guide for
Blue 1x4 bricks which has color code = 7
You can save yourself tons of time when listing parts if you memorize or have
a written reference list of the most common color codes.
Black = 11
Blue = 7
Dark Bluish Gray = 85
Light Bluish Gray = 86
Reddish Brown = 88
Green = 6
Orange = 4
Red = 5
Tan = 2
Yellow = 3
White = 1
Old Brown = 8
Old Light Gray = 9
Old Dark Gray = 10
Dark Turquoise = 39
Dark Blue = 63
Dark Green = 80
Dark Red = 59
Dark Tan = 69
Dark Purple = 89
Trans-Clear = 12
Trans-Dark Blue = 14
Trans-Light Blue = 15
Trans-Green = 20
Trans-Red = 17
Trans-Neon Green = 16
Trans-Yellow = 19
Trans-Neon Orange = 18
Trans-Orange = 98
Trans-Black = 13

Demand (or at least, sales) also vary with what else you have in your store.
Don't expect sales of used, common parts until you have lots listed.

Yeah, I agree but maybe for 1x plates only. They seem to sell much faster then
2x or 4x. I hate listing bigger plates because they always seem to be dusty.
Also caveat on the Bricks: except Red or Yellow which sell never.

Thanks Jen!! That helps a LOT! (I am very familiar with LEGO. I have most already
broken down by style, most of those by color. I just have so much and want to
try to list what sells first!)
Also,. "lidt lots" how does that work exactly? Your help is very much
appreciated

Same.

But I'd be OP, I'd write "Shows Play Wear" in lot description
better than "SPW": people don't read Terms, and frankly I
wouldn't know what this acronym means...

| I sell mainly used parts.
Grade EVERYTHING in some way or another, and don't list anything damaged
unless its very rare or old.
I have received some very sketch used parts over the years, stuff I would have
tossed, but bought in desparation, and they are usually from sellers with no
descriptions. As such I'm pretty much done buying used parts from sellers
who don't add descriptions as a general habit.

| I would politely disagree with this.
I sell mainly used parts too. I very seldom “grade” anything, unless it’s a crooked
sticker. That’s because I only sell good used parts, ones I would be happy to
receive. If you assess your parts fairly for condition and don’t bother with
substandard, heavy playwear or damaged parts, you can just state in your terms
truthfully that your parts are excellent used quality - and over time your feedback
will reinforce it.
I sure hope that buyers generally look at feedback to determine a store’s parts
quality and not just an absence of descriptions.
One other piece of advice: clean all dusty/dirty parts before sale. It makes
a difference!

I do agree that in general no comments means its in good used condition (yes
good is subjective but overall got as without anything but normal minor wear)
but in general its completely fine to list damaged parts as long as you describe
them as I've sold many many damaged parts that are properly described as
the buyer gets the parts they want for cheaper and after selling many many damaged
parts that are fully described I've only had 1 or 2 occasions where customers
contacted me not expecting a damaged part which on a overall scale is very minor
and if one wanted they could refund those parts and everyone would still be happy
in the end and the one benefit to doing that is you wouldn't be tempted to
sell damaged parts without describing them as you know they will still sell and
the customer will be fine with it. in general if I go to a store ill be more
likely to buy with confidence if I go to my wanted list and half the things are
listed as damaged but the other half arent as I know in general those other ones
without descriptions will be in good condition

=1 I have a brush beside me at all times and except for valuable parts where
I always mention it if I cant clean it I always make sure the parts are clean
