Since the update yesterday, my inventory count has gone down around 10,000 items?
I have reconciled inventory from a known point, subtracted orders delivered,
added inventory count added and it does not make sense, still 10,000 out?

Has anyone experienced this? I keep a log of items added and the resultant counts
from BL after, so I know what my count should be.

Thanks

Chris

Did you downloaded like daily the invxml.txt file of your Inventory on BrickLink?
Or used BrickStore and saved locally?

If not, you can't prove it's not an error from your side (99% the case)
or a BrickLink error (I'd say 1% or less)...

I do periodically. I do record the totals after every addition of new parts and
that is what alerted me to the problem.

Not the totals, it can't help - you need the whole detail of each lot and
each quantity, along with lot number etc.

The invxml.txt file - or a BrickStore file.

The idea is that you can make a log like:

25 Nov 2022 Lot: 212223455 Brick 2x4 White, qty: 225
26 Nov 2022 Uploaded Brick 2x4 White, qty: 100
27 Nov 2022 Lot: 212223455 Brick 2x4 White, qty: 325

And, assuming you've sold NONE (checking downloading the orders details)
then IF you have this line:

30 Nov 2022 Lot: 212223455 Brick 2x4 White, qty: 111

That may mean:
* you have sold some (check with order details)
* some are in Stockroom (check this)
* you (or someone else) manually removed parts (inventory lot page)
* or when you uploaded it wasn't consolidated, or after a problem in IDs
because order or items cancelled, then maybe the remaining Brick 2x4 is under
a different lot ID...

If not all of this, then MAYBE you've found a problem.

But sincerely it's very difficult to track, as first you've to have every
inventories (again) and order details also (after 6 month you can't...)

maybe they went to 'my collection'.....

amazing what's happening the last few days here, I'm backing up my store
data as much as I can in order to minimize the impact of the next update

maybe temporarily shutting down the store is the safest thing to do?

Sorry, but don't belive the "I'm sure it happened to me" unless there
are dated inventory copies.

Otherwise it's 99.99% an user glitch, or a glitch when updating or uploading
(browser, server...) but in short, the thing never happened in the end - and
without proper dated backups you cannot say it's BrickLink fault.

I have counts recorded every time I add inventory. I am not saying it is BL's
fault at all, just trying to figure out what happened..

I was not referring to the missing items but to the downtime, unscheduled, security
scans, new funtionality no-one asked for, name changing obligation....
50% of my 'lost some inventory' where indeed caused by human actions
on my side; the other 50% certainly not mine but might have been buyers causing
glitches due to bad programming or faulty coding. That's still human action
by the way . Systems are build by humans, algoritmes too and those are as
smart (or dumb) as humans build them....

Funny isn't it?:

- BL can shoot first ask later and that's okay
- BL-members (who PAY for BL with their fees!) must provide proof before they
can shoot

Again, the big M rule applies here ever since the site got transferred to Kim
and later on to TLC
Which I can understand completely from the Jezek-family point of view, don't
get me wrong, they are in NO way to blame for what happened ever since....

You don't want to be accused of false claims, please avoid accusing the others
also.

In 16 years year and for 2+ years I control the Inventory on BrickLink a couple
of times per day, I've found only 2 cases of real "inventory creation" (respawned
lot or error in qty) due to BrickLink only.

I measure this only, not "loss of inventory" but sincerely I guess it's about
the same, at the maximum.

And I'm talking about a 10€ total error; not something significant - not
even annoying.

That's all - I repeat, if you don't use the tools (invxml.txt or BrickStore)
and the Orders detail downloaded files, with timestamp, then you cannot say I'm
missing something due to them.

I'm not trying to be rude but this seems like an ENORMOUS waste of time.
you'll end up with 10X more sales if you stop doing this.
