Sorting bulk... like 100 lbs. What is the fastest way to look over every piece
to check the studs for the markings? Currently flipping and flashlight.
Anybody have a better solution cause it's taking forever

A magnifying ring lamp is very helpful for me. Also a digital microscope helps
to see the tiny part numbers on the bottoms or insides of the pieces.

stacking bricks wherever possible helps a pile in addition this is probably the
best $50 I ever spent. (not a link to a lego listing so maybe this post wont
get deleted?)

Yeah, something like that to quickly see what you're looking at. Also make
sure to get one that is a daylight lamp. That helps distinguish colors like
light gray vs light bluish gray.

I've got quite the same, no magnifier, a flexible support.
Very very useful.
The webcam support makes it very easy to show/make a movie of a lego model.

Yep, and I as afraid of this, but it's very solid, rigid; it's flexible
but you can place any camera/phone weight on it, it's super solid.

+ a million on the light with magnifying glass as I have the same!

Also, I would say don't, at least not until you get it broken into smaller
categories and furthermore even into lots and elements. I sort hundreds of pounds
of bulk at a time and I do keep a few small containers in front of me for my
initial sort (aside from the containers I use for the initially sorted categories
ie. plate, brick, etc.) that are for damaged pieces, trash and Fake-O pieces.
I find you waste more time sorting fakes out of the initial sort that would be
otherwise found once pieces are down to lots and you are inspecting for quality,
at that point you will see either the color difference and/or the piece having
Lego molded on top. It generally ends up saving you time in the end, especially
with large sorts therefore putting a couple more pennies in your pocket. Just
my $.02!

It's already sorted several times over! It's down to the small stuff!
I'm just trying to go quick

I usually just look through the last pound or so to spot any super valuable
small parts like feathers and throw the rest out. No time for that bottom of
the bulk mess.

I don't buy or get involved with used or bulk lots but if I did I would have
a similar approach to you and only pick out the worthwhile stuff as it can't
be very cost effective or best use of anyone's time to check all those 1x1
plates etc.. If I knew for certain it was all genuine Lego then its worth sorting
but otherwise its probably better to just sell it as a bulk lot on ebay and list
as unsorted Lego/unbranded bricks and give someone else the headache

And thanks everyone. Yall reminded me I bought a magnifying headlamp just for
that but I usually use the most magnifying to get those small numbers. I just
put it on th4 least magnifying and I'm going ham!
