Feature suggestion: Make it possible to list a part in your wanted list as "any
variant accepted." This would allow store listings of all variants of a part
to be considered by the "Buy All" function of the wanted list.

This would be extremely helpful if, for example, the cheapest listing of part
2436 was more expensive than the cheapest listing of part 2436b, and you didn't
need either specific version for your project. In this case, the "Buy All" function
would automatically select 2436b.

It may also be useful if you were able to mark certain variants as accepted but
not all; for example, if you wanted any variant of part 4085 except 4085c, the
"Buy All" function would search listings of all 4085 variants except 4085c.

A while back, I made some remarks on the catalog organization, and the need for
‘roots’. See here …

It (more or less) addresses your suggestion, in that the wanted list would be
against the root entry, and not against the leaf nodes.
