| I'm sorry to say that the user experience on Bricklink is terrible. I'd
thought that the acquisition by The Lego Group would bring investment to improve
usability, but nothing has happened. It's immensely disappointing.
1. The search function seems to be geared around buying pieces, not simply searching
the database. Why does it bring up items for sale by default? Why does it order
search results in such a strange way by default?
2. Features for managing parts lists are poor. There's no ability to merge
lists that have parts in common (BL just complains that the parts already exist).
Indeed, it's not even possible to use the 'upload' function to upload
an xml file that has previously been downloaded from Bricklink. Despite that,
it is possible to use an xml file to create a new wanted list. This is obviously
completely unintuitive.
3. It's still not possible to order Bricks and Pieces from Bricklink. This
is such an obvious thing to do that it shouldn't need to be said.
4. Orders seem to be deleted from the order list after only a few months. Why
is this necessary?
5. It is not possible to automatically mark pieces as bought when they have been
ordered.

Yah... No...
Bricklink is different from lego bricks and pieces if lego flooded bricklink
with its on service it would be very bad for sellers

I honestly wonder why TLG doesn't do this to begin with. Is there some sort
of logistical challenge associated with selling individual parts as compared
to sets? I know that this isn't TLG's main business model, but if BrickLink
is any indicator, there is a strong demand for parts.

| Perhaps a logistical thing. They still get money every time a person buys a (new)
set for resale so they probably figure they wouldn't make much money from
it after it all said and done compared to just selling the sets to resellers
plus maybe they know people like places like Bricklink which have parts from
all eras which promotes the lego brand non-stop which also leads to more sales.
Just a guess tho

It is definitely possible to order bricks and pieces from BrickLink, just go
to just about any store…
TLG may own BL, but they are still separate companies with separate staff, websites,
etc. When you buy parts on BrickLink, you are buying them from independent sellers
generally not affiliated with TLG, whereas when you buy parts on LEGO.com you
are getting them directly from TLG. Besides, didn't TLG get rid of Bricks
& Pieces? When I go to LEGO.com I see only Pick-A-Brick now.

They have combined the front ends of the two but they are still separate services.

I think it's not a core business for Lego. Otherwhise you wouldn't expect
to wait at least 5-6 week (or more) to get your order from Lego (if you order
from the new bricks and pieces). Even if they would open a Lego BL B&P shop,
they have to speed up their game. Order within the Netherlands I receive within
a couple of days. If Lego does this centralized in Poland, it still takes a week
to reach me (and that's only shipping time). So this means they have to extend
their capacity a lot and people are very expensive, so I don't thing they
want to get more order, then they now allready get. I think it's for Lego
an extra service with which they earn little. For little orders with a lot of
different pieces, sets, minifigs, gear, instructions, etc they have Bricklink!
Kind regards,
José

The day lego starts selling here, competing with sellers that pay fees to sell
here, is the day brickowl gets a sudden increase in seller numbers.

Buying from TLG is something that can already be done. This change would simply
improve the buying experience. It's not in TLG's interests to undermine
the seller base of Bricklink, and the idea that sellers would migrate to Brickowl
doesn't make sense; it wouldn't achieve anything from the sellers'
perspective.

It would also manipulate the prices here, and LEGO said they would not do that
when they bought Bricklink.

Consider that this is exactly why TLG hasn't opened a "Bricks & Pieces" store
on BrickLink.
