Was totally shocked to see this when just opening my case for the first time.
Anyone have an explanation of why this box has all the writing on the sleeve?
And why is it not numbered but says “Brickworld 2019 Charity Auction” instead?

I'd be intrigued to know who's signatures these are. The one appears
to say "Dan's mom" under it....as in perhaps the site founders mother signed
it?

If you do, see if she'd like to chime in here, perhaps to Russell's post:

I really enjoy the more personal anecdotes. In any case, it appears you've
got yourself a special/unique Lego item, Jonathan.

From the Dan Jezek tribute site:
https://www.danjezek.com/visits8.html

Three successful designers presented their work at a BL-sponsored AFOL session
during BrickWorld. Later, several featured ADP sets were auctioned off at the
annual charity fund raiser, with each signed set (signed by the set's designer
as well as Eliska Jezkova, BrickLink, and Tormod Askildsen, the LEGO Group) helped
to raise a record $27,000 this year for worthy causes.

Löwenstein Castle was designed by Raziel Regulus.

Thanks for the link! That is indeed the set I wound up with.

That was one of the very first Löwenstein Castles off the production line. The
week before Brickworld, we took the very first one to Paredes de Coura in Portugal,
and this one was reserved for the Brickworld auction shortly thereafter.

This design was only revealed to the public about 3 years ago and it's already
a classic:

Set No: BL19001 Name: Löwenstein Castle
*
BL19001-1 (Inv) Löwenstein Castle
2002 Parts, 3 Minifigures, 2019
Sets: BrickLink Designer Program
There is also an extension that is very worth building:

If it was auctioned, should it not go to a buyer in that auction?

The auction was in June of 2019.
I’m guessing the winner of the auction has now sold it.

Correct. I got it on eBay not too long ago. Apparently the owner never opened
the case and didn't remember how special it was!

Hi, Russell,
You weren't at that BrickWorld, but your parents were. I remember it was
great to meet them.
A little more information on that particular set. I've already passed this
along to Jonathan. Yes, I think Jonathan has a very unique set.

Marvin and other BrickLink folks and Larry and I were at BrickWorld in June 2019.
As with each BW, there is a special charity event that auctions off donated
sets for worthy causes. It usually raises around $20,000 each year and is well
attended. This year -- the last BW before COVID cancelled the next two --
Bricklink/LEGO Group graciously set aside several sets to be donated and they
sold really well. There are three signatures on that set. Mine is there and
so is Tormod Askildsen, AFOL liaison at LEGO Group, and the designer of the Loewenstein
Castle set, Raziel Regulus. The three of us signed the box in hopes of raising
bidders' interest in the set. It seemed to work because the entire auction
that year raised a record $27,000. Our report of BW 2019 is here: https://www.danjezek.com/visits8.html

So far as I know, this is the only Loewenstein Castle set that was signed by
all three of us, so it is literally one-of-a-kind. I remember thinking it was
very appropriate that I "sign for Dan" since he was always a big fan of the LEGO
Castle Theme and built several castle Mocs himself -- example: https://www.danjezek.com/danslego.html
I actually have a photo of the set while being auctioned at BrickWorld and I've
offered to send it to Jonathan to help establish authenticity of the signatures.
The photo is of the set being auctioned while Marvin Park (BrickLink CEO at the
time) holds it up for bidders to view. The signatures can clearly be seen on
the set at that time.

Hope this explanation helps. How Jonathan was so lucky to end up with it, not
sure but he may want to hold on to it.

All the best,
Eliska

I guess you could always return it as a "damaged item".

Or maybe just keep it.

In this case it appears to more so be a "1/1 rare" item, not damaged at all!
