Not exactly; you could use this part with any length axle, but it puts the output
connector .5 studs further out:

Not exactly; you could use this part with any length axle, but it puts the output
connector .5 studs further out:

I just tried your suggestion. It does not allow room for the pistons to turn.
Looks like I'll have to modify the original part some how.
