I have been trying to complete inventory verification for about 2 months now
and have found numerous discrepancies!! I now have a bag full of several hundred/thousand
pieces that have been totally dropped from my BrickLink inventory! Now I will
have to re-add them before I even start with the inventory I just received.

I've been using BrickStock to update or upload inventory and it works fine.
When I download my store inventory to verify, there are either pieces listed
that I no longer have or pieces I have that aren't listed.

Has anyone else had or having this problem, and if so, is there a resolution
for it other than manually re-entering everything? Raising two grandchildren,
I really don't have the time to keep double-checking whether BrickLink is
working correctly. This is the 3rd time in a year that I've basically had
to re-do inventory because BrickLink totals did not jive with what I actually
have in inventory.

I fear your issues are created by problems with your third-party software. If
there were issues with BL inventory at this time, there would be thousands of
sellers here reporting it.
I hope someone more familiar with BrickStock can help in identifying the cause
of your discrepancies.

Good luck,
Jen

I thought I had read some time ago that BrickStock wasn't being supported
any more, and had difficulty communicating with the BL API endpoints because
it was still using the SSL protocol instead of TLS.

Nope, I use brickstore/brickstock and bricksync. I save every file of every
upload/order and when I find a discrepancy I can go back and look to see what
happened. Every single issue has been my mistake so far, it is easy to fat finger
a location or a number of parts. It is also easy to send the wrong amount of
parts when dealing with thousands of little parts unless you are doing double/triple
checking.

It would be nice if Bricklink had the amazing lot history that Brick Owl does,
it is fantastic for finding strange issues that seemingly can't be explained.

With all that being said I do think that uploading a file can cause issues with
that lag problems that bricklink has. So if you are uploading XML files during
peak times when things are going slow a double upload might happen, or even a
file you upload may not actually have saved. So make sure you verify your uploads
after you do so.

For almost 15 years I thought people were dreaming and BL Shop's Inventory
was always correct.
In fact, often I did notice some errors... we made that make us believe it was
BL fault, but it wasn't.

But I had a doubt, and for 2 years I'm downloading twice per day our shop
inventory and compare.
For internal reasons, we don't compare what's fewer on BL, but what's
(abnormally) more on BL.

We've found 2 times in 2021 where BL either "created" an extra quantity or
even extra lots.
I still have the XML of the 2 periods with all details.
I didn't open a ticket, because I've lost faith in tickets; some of mine
are opened with no reply for 2 years now, so...

In short - I didn't think it could happen, but we're absolutely sure
some quantities/lots has been "added" to our stock at least twice in 2021.
There's absolutely no possibility I could have uploaded something I don't
remember (I keep all the upload files) and I can't create a new lot having
an OLD lot number, it's impossible.

About your case, stock missing, I can't tell, but note it's difficult
to check.
1) BL removes stock for 10 minutes when someone's using instant payment,
and the stock comes back later on if the payment is cancelled
2) You've to account your order AND item cancellations (your own changes)
3) You've to account the lots and quantities that are in remaining orders
which are in Pending, Ready or such statuses but that you didn't pick up
yet (if you allow this).

There's no problem using Brick Store; it's 100% safe.
My 2 cents:

* Keep regularly a copy of your inventory: it's also a way to bring it back
in case your shop has some damage (like a hack, whatever).
* Keep a copy of everything you upload.
* Do NOT change anything manually in your shop; this won't leave a trace
that you can verify later on.

If you're SURE you've located a problem, it's VERY simple to correct
it.
Open the saved file (previous state), open the current state (CTRL I+CTRL S).
Then subtract once with the other, and you can MASS UPDATE (not upload!) the
difference.
Carefully verify what's you're correcting on the BL upload page...

The only bug I have ever seen and reported is this one:

https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1202902

Duplicate lots are created when you upload parts after an order cancellation
if you have Comments on them and none left in your inventory.
