Hi,

Since mid week all my orders have started dropping in as needing a parcel rather
than a large letter format. Adding a number of 2 x 2 tiles should not need a
parcel! I have made no changes to my shipping settings for months. Checking the
shipping screen it seems to be quoting packing dimensions in cm's now, where
I think they used to be in mm?

I have already had one Customer contact to complain, I'm just wondering how
many orders I have missed out on as others have gone elsewhere.

Thanks

Tim

Yes we have noticed the same issue have refunded a number of small parcels that
fit in large letter. I have asked a friend to run some tests on my store and
they do seem to be going through on large letter. Could this be a catalogue issue
where they have changed dimensions from mm to cm? We are receiving some orders
as they should be i.e. large letter and others which are not

Did you have any lots with override (X/Y/Z) dimensions ? All of the dimensions
I have, which I thought were coded as 1mm x 1mm x 1mm are now appearing as 0.1mm
x 0.1mm x 0.1mm, but the inventory lot display page still thinks they are mm,
and not cm. So I don't know what's happening here. Since my XML backups
DO NOT contain those manually entered over-rides, I can't tell for sure.

Anyone else out there with specific lot dimensions, can you please check to see
if they have been reduced by one magnitude ?

So, I suspect I can confirm my suspicions ... this lot currently displays as
20mm x 20mm x 5mm. There is no way that is even close to correct.

Hi Nita,

Thanks for the reply. Yes I have tried overriding the dimensions on some products
but Customers are still complaining.

Is there any formal way of logging this with BrickLink? This old Bulletin Board
System just seems to be users complaining about the issue?

Thanks

Hints:

Rule 1: DO NOT enter manual dimensions (and remove the ones you entered).
For those lots, set up a specific method like "Invoice me manually" and calculate
the price yourself, on demand.

Rule 2: For every shipping method you can set up a size margin.
If you don't believe BL sizes are exact, simply add 5 or 10% to the BL size
in the shipping method

Hi Sylvain,

I don’t normally enter in manual dimensions as I don’t normally have any issues.
As I mentioned earlier I did put I a few to diagnose and prove the issue.

I have entered in packaging dimensions to allow for padding of envelopes etc
and have since opening my store with no issues.

I really don’t want to invoice orders manually as this obviously causes more
work for me as the seller and more faff for the customer as they have to come
back and pay at a later date.

I was just hoping someone from BrickLink would acknowledge the issue and sort
the problem.

Thanks
Tim

Dimensions on lots are totally legitimate. They were put there for a reason.
If the dimensions are to be removed, BL should notify us of that fact. They have
not done so.

What is missing in all of this is a road map, so that we can understand what
the target is, how we are going to get there, and how to behave during the transition.
That does not currently exist.

USPS zoned shipping is certainly doable, and without API calls to USPS. That
we need more than tinkering with shipping weights/dimensions.

I've noticed this as well, and I think I have the same issue.

I posted a message in November, that there are inconsistencies in the use of
MM and CM on different pages. ( https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1314467)
Admin Russel replied "We haven’t updated that part yet, but we plan to do so
very soon."

I guess we have a different understanding of "very soon", because it's not
updated yet. I work mainly from the inventory pages, which are all still on MM's.

I saw today that a lot of my dimensions have been changed to a CM value. e.g.
it used to be "35", it was changed to "3.5". I use this a lot for sets. As the
pages are still not updated and use "MM", all sets I posted since december have
been added with a MM value. So today half my store used CM values and half used
MM values.

I'm not sure it the checkout system is now set to MM or CM's. I would
like to fund out soon though! I've put everything back to MM value, so either
it works as it used to, or some sets need a 1,5 meter box . I may need to
ask someone to check it out in my store to verify.
