| I just finished spending about 30 minutes placing an order only to be informed
that they were unable to find any shipping methods from Pennsylvania to Washington.
Imagine my surprise to find out that this is still going on. I think it's
time for Bricklink to put an end to vendors, who for some reason or another(mainly
politics), won't ship too places that they don't like. Bricklink needs
to set a policy that simply states "If you are unwilling to ship to every Bricklink
user then you need to leave and sell your wares elsewhere". It's your site
not theirs - time to shut this down once and for all.

Is it possible that what really happened here is that the seller doesn't
have Onsite enabled, and that as a result Bricklink could not collect the sales
tax?

You mean every seller has to ship to every user? How about Bricklink simply showing
correctly whether the seller ships to you or not? Seems like a more feasible
solution to me.

Wait you placed the order and then the seller said they couldn't ship?
Or you were unable to place the order in the first place, but spent a lot of
time filling your cart?

No way. I only ship to the UK currently, as there are many problems with tax
collection here and double taxing on import and new rules about some countries
not allowing toys to be imported by post and still problems with slow international
postage and probably many other reasons too. Just check a seller ships to you
before spending time in their store.

Maybe the seller miscalculated the shipping cost and didn't want to eat the
difference. Postage from PA to WA is expensive.

What make you say this? Doubt many sellers would turn away business based on
not liking the destination.

This isn't feasible.

The seller in question, please click on their Terms, then scroll down to Payment
Policy. See if they have PayPal (onsite) and/or Stripe (onsite) listed.
If they have neither, it is because they have failed to keep up with BL requirements
that are necessary for BL to collect destination state's sale tax.
If they do have one or both, then the suggestion here is that BL is still having
technical issues.

Personally, I do not ship to the Arctic or Antarctica. Never have and never will
no matter how many buyers want me to.

| The seller in question is me. I have paypal onsite initiated.
I can only imagine the frustration felt by the customer in not being able to
complete this order. since I recently completed two orders to Washington without
issue can there still be an issue from my store??
I sent a message to admin@BrickLink.com regarding this buyer's vaid complaint,
as well as a few others but have not received a reply yet.

FWIW it doesn't seem to be the issue we saw earlier this month with the global
cart page. It might help if the buyer could supply one or more screen captures
of what he's seeing.

| When this happened in the past most buyers waited a few hours and were able to
complete the process.

Which strongly suggests this is a capacity issue, either with BL's footprint
on AWS, or possibly with the selected payment service.
The time from mid-November thru late-December is a heavy online shopping period.
It's where many online marketplaces get stress tested (by real live buyers).

Just to add my 2 cents. I am only new on this platform. But is a very experienced
ebay seller which lives in the land down under (AUSTRALIA) I use to ship world
wide the product I was selling on ebay. That until covid-19 hit. The postal
system here got thrown into chaos where it was taking 3-4 months to get things
out of the country and into the country and has been like this for nearly 2 years
now. I ended up having to change my selling to Australia only due to the countless
emails we were dealing with due to buyers NOT understanding alot of places were
not letting fieght in due to cancel flights etc. Not saying this is the case
with your seller but some sellers will not ship overseas due to postal issues
around the world atm. Just putting this out there

Bit confused here. All stores have a banner on their header which clearly states
whether they ship to me or not. If this store says they ship to you then there
may be a technical glitch - if not then you do not spend time filling a cart
only to find they will not ship. The store in question has now responded and
it appears to be a technical glitch.
As for forcing all stores to ship everywhere that simply is not feasible. Stores
are independent businesses and they make their own decisions on who and where
they ship to. Almost never a good idea to force something on people.
