So I came across this 2x10 PAT PEND brick that has a curved gap on one end that
continues on to the first understud (or whatever you call it). I couldn't
find anything like it in the catalog. Is this supposed to be this way or did
the mold not fill up when it was created and there was not enough plastic to
finish the part?

Looks like a short shot to me, seen similar odd items in the past.
