Hi all....anyone have a theory as to why the newer Harry Potter figures aren't
desirable (therefore so cheap). From the bulk that we acquire, we are accumulating
many of the figures, and I keep waiting for them to have value (say more than
$3) in order to list them in our store, but they are not going up at all.
Just curious

IMO, market saturation, no new movies or marketing on HP (outside of Lego), and
a tired "old" theme.

This is the problem. There is nothing new in the series....obviously and there
is no new draw at all. Generationally it's not getting the attention as
it had in the past and is kind of old news. Star Wars has the advantage off
still growing and all the off shoots, plus the cult following.

And there are plenty of new (unused) modern figures. Why buy a used version of
a modern figure when new ones are available for almost the same price.

Given there are almost 100 different Harry Potter figs and most of them can be
had for less than $2, I wouldn't be holding cheap ones waiting for an increase
in price. I don't see it ever happening.

It's a little disappointing to say the least. Most of the sets I parted
out I chose because of the colors/parts rather than the minifigures so I'll
do okay on those parts, but even the 20th anniversay minifigs that came with
the 76391 are just sitting there. Twenty three sold in two months with 26 available.

People are buying them - but not many of them.

At over $100 for three minifigures, I'm not surprised they are not selling
fast.

That is a new set, and it will be discounted at some stage and those figures
will be cheaper when sellers get a better buy in price. That is why buyers will
now wait. If you want to make money on figures from (new) sets, then you have
to be among the first to sell them or sell them once the set is no longer available
at retail stores. Not while the set is on the shelves.

Thanks all! Everything you all say makes sense! I guess I'll be going to
Craig's list to unload the newer Harry Potter figures! lol
