So i know the standard definition of NEW for parts is when they have never been
attached to other parts before. Easy.

But how does it work for original boxes ? I mean you have to manipulate the box
to take out its content. Is it still NEW then ? When does it become USED ?

Thanks for your help !

i would say that if you buy a set to part out, and you don't damage the box
taking the parts out then it would be considered new.

if you bought a set and you built it and took it apart and stored parts in that
box that you later decided you wanted to sell, then that would be considered
used, in my opinion. although if the box is still pretty much pristine then you
could still consider it new but i wouldn't if i had 'used' it.

as for boxes that are glued, i use a heat gun so i'm able to open them without
ripping the flaps.

Yeah that is pretty much how I see it as well. Thanks for the heat gun tip!
