I have the train 12v replacement motor item No x551. According to item info this
motor was not produced after 1977 but this one clearly says that it was manufactured
in 1983. How can that be? I dont recollect this motor being used in sets in the
80s. Should item info be updated or?

while it may not have been in Lego sets after 1977, that is a pretty common toy
part that Lego bought for themselves to use. I'm sure the manufacturer kept
selling them in other toys.

Very interesting.
I think they produced the service pack

Set No: 1150 Name: Replacement Motor 12V
*
1150-1 (Inv) Replacement Motor 12V
1 Part, 1977
Sets: Service Packs
for few years after the blue 12v era was over for those kids who still had them.

They did the same for gray era 12v. The production of 12v trains ended in 1990
and since 1991, the new era 9v began however TLG sold service packs up to 1994.

Sounds plausible. Would they manufacture the service pack for so long without
advertising it? I mean I don't think I have seen it in catalogues from the
early 80s.
