Have been encountering this problem since today, as I did not have this issue
a week ago.

I have 3 orders from california buyers in my store currently and I am unable
to invoice any of them. When I hit the send invoice button after plugging in
the S&H charges, I get a page that says "The page cannot be displayed because
an internal server error has occurred."

I am not having this problem with non-California buyers, so I strongly suspect
this has something to do with recent site changes to integrate the BL-collected
sales tax function.

Could anyone help solve this technical issue or provide a workaround? As it stands,
I am unable to invoice these buyers at all until the issue is fixed.

Quick question, do you have onsite payment methods enabled? I know that was one
of the items on the list of 'must have's

Yes, I have had onsite payment enabled for a while and have disabled offsite
payment options in an attempt to fix this glitch. Still having the same problem.

It unfortunately doesn't. I already had the closed comments macro tag in
my custom invoice template. I deleted and started the invoice template from scratch
by using the site default (which has the comments macro tags) and the issue is
still there.

Honestly don't know what to do at this point. Frustrated bc this was working
fine with california buyers a week ago.

Quick update -- I was able to invoice the buyers but only by deleting everything
in my custom invoice template except for the "please send x amount". Apparently
including my paypal email address or any other comments in the invoice template
causes the system to reject it. So I suppose for now, I will have to have a default
invoice for CA/CT buyers and my custom template for everyone else, and send the
custom text in a supplementary message for CA/CT buyers after invoicing.

I suspect that "including my PayPal address" is the problem. You can not provide
any offsite way to be paid, such as a manual PayPal payment, because then the
tax collection program would not work.

You have Paypal onsite and regular Paypal as options for payment in your store.
I have been having the same problem with sending invoices as you. Did you try
eliminating the regular Paypal so that only Paypal onsite was available. I have
not had a new CA/CT order yet to test this theory so I would be anxious to hear
if it works for you.
