So a large order of 1400+ used parts arrived this week and going through the
order I discovered a few wrong parts, and few missing parts from lots, and 11
entire lots totally missing. Altogether they amount to 10% of the order! Recent
complaint feedback for the seller has a handful of warnings about poor communication
and only getting partial refunds.

While getting a refund isn't the worst way to resolve the problem, I will
certainly have to spend much more on the parts from other stores. Do I run an
estimate of the cost of replacements through the Auto Select as a suggested refund?
What if I get no response from the seller? Do I pursue a refund through Paypal?

Thanks.

I would try communicating with the buyer first before contacting paypal and opening
a dispute. See if they have the missing lots and ask if they can ship them. If
not they will most likely refund the missing parts only, doubt they are going
to refund you the cost to order them from another seller. If you dispute through
paypal, that's all they would be obligated to do anyways. So contact them
and see what they say before jumping the gun.

I definitely messaged the seller as soon as I had it all figured out what was
missing. Message is unread as of this posting. I know they still have the parts
in inventory because their store shows up in the Auto Select having all lots
in quantity. They have a $1.00 average lot price limitation, so even if I wanted
to take my refund and re-buy them, I couldn't unless I spent more. The next
store that has all the parts in stock comes in 4x the cost.

They may have read the e-mail and not the BL message.  Many people do that.
But they also may not because it’s the week-end.

hehe, well, the email I sent the address on their invoice bounced back as undeliverable
(not a great sign). My BL message was last night. They live local to me, and
I of course will give until like later Monday before taking any outside action.
From looking at their feedback it appears they do a decent volume of sales (several
feedback a day). I can't imagine how they aren't reading messages unless
they avoid them until they're hit with disputes.

I meant BL messages can be forwarded to e-mail.  So they may have received and
read your BL message by e-mail and therefore hadn’t bothered to read it again
/ mark it read on the website.

I can make a pretty good guess at what store it is (BPB?). I haven't done
business with them but also noticed lots of complaints regarding errors and not
responding to errors so I've hesitated placing any orders despite the cheap
prices.

From our store experience as seller, if we ever made that many errors (which
we have not), especially on an order that large, we would send out what was missing
and eat the extra postage. My guess is if so many lots were missing, they may
have forgotten to put a bag of parts with your order

I can also second the comment that we rarely read the messages with BL, but via
Email, but we almost always respond form the original order page.

I don't want to hijack this thread, but holy panties Batman, 16 negs since
Sept 1 for that seller? BL might want to look into some one-off SQL queries to
find bad apples like that one. This is unreal.

That's my suspicion as well. All the missing lots are sequential on the invoice,
and the same color.

I definitely messaged the seller as soon as I had it all figured out what was

Again give them time to respond and see if they will send the parts, if not I
would expect only a refund for the parts that were missing. I know it sucks that
you may have to order at a higher price, but they are not obligated to pay for
that. Some sellers may, but it sounds like this sellers feedback, they aren't
going to go out of their way to make that happen, just my 2 cents.
