Just building some Oktoberfest LederHosen Guy and Pretzel Girl minifigures in
my latest rendition of a midifigure format.

Yes, Oktoberfest is coming (September 21-October 6).

This is probably my favorite pairing of CMFs, and this year I found out through
23&me that I have 6% German ancestry (mostly from Bavaria), so it's quite
fitting for me to build these little folks. Don't know much else, besides
that my relative from my mom's side used to travel to Germany quite frequently.

Cheers,

Miro

At the risk of sounding like a sycophant of someone I feel might be important/famous
with in the Lego world, your creations are truly impressive. Beautiful midis!

I like your micro builds even more, though.

Aren't you Czechoslovakian? What's the 94% balance of your genetic sampling?

Cheers,

Prost!

That's what I thought, but the genetics show a that I am only about 76% Eastern
European (Slovak, Czech, Polish and Ukraine). The rest is mainly German (~6%)
with sprinkles of Greek/Balkan (~3%), Italian (~1%), Scandinavian (1%) and the
rest broadly European (~12%).

I think its an exciting era where for the first time we can trace our ancestry
through genetics, which seemed to match what my parents have told me and then
some.

It sure is. I’ve told my kids from time to time through their growing-up years,
how envious I am of all the wondrous experiences advancements in technology will
bring them in their lifespans.

I guess the handed-down and often times embellished heritage we get from our
elders, will soon be a thing of the past

The way you built them to get those poses is excellent.

MY original midifigure (as seen in my avatar picture) even though it could sit
and move arms and head, had very limited expressions. It looked too stiff, so
I adopted the tilting of the head, bent knees, and more dynamic joints in elbows
and shoulders. I have foregone the leg joints as the appeal of sitting or standing
was not that practical for display. You can look at the evolution of the midifigure
in this Flickr album (https://www.flickr.com/photos/miro78/albums/72157649268187909).
Almost 5 years work in progress. That's the beauty of Lego, it allows you
to improve on it without reinvesting in materials with each iteration.

Cheers,

Miro

Those look great Miro!

On a side note, I wouldn't put too much stock into those Ancestry DNA tests.
They've found that they are not as accurate as they claim to be. You could
do the same ancestry test with another company and get much different results.
Here's an interesting video on a test done by Marketplace (on cbc tv).
Interesting watch if you have 22 minutes to spare)

Thanks Michael, I'll watch the linked video later tonight. I had my parents
do the ancestry as well. I know it's based on an algorithm and some of those
low percentage ones may very well be a bit of a stretch, but so far the main
stuff seems to be matching up with family lineage stories that I have gathered.
The data keeps improving as more data is gathered. I got my data from January
of 2019 test.
