Hi all.

I'm intending to undertake a small 'LEGO day' at my local school
as part of that school's Deaf Awareness Week, of which I did do last year,
and it was a 'hit' with the children and teachers alike.

Last year, I had a Tracked Racer (set 42065) as part of the interactive things
to play with, and I have decided to have another to allow a small 'race area'
to have the children compete against each other with.

So, to my joy, I have managed to get hold of another racer, and have changed
one's colours to all white instead of the Lime and White, so the children
would be able to identify 'theirs'.

I dismantled one, changed the necessary parts, and installed new batteries, and
I found that there are 2 distinctly different battery boxes, which in terms of
use isn't that much, but if one needs to replace the covers, there IS a difference.

The picture below shows this difference.

The one on the right has small ridges on the ends at the top, where we can see
the 'wings'.

The left cover is compatible with both types of boxes, but the right cover NEEDS
to be mated to the proper box as there is a recess for the tabs to go into when
clicking the cover into place.

I think a small note needs to be added to the appropriate section/s of the catalogue.

Feel free to use my image if this will help.

Regards,

Paul

Why no interest or comments about this?

I'm really surprised as this is actually a design feature that LEGO has used,
and I can see a few different variants of 'brick' have been added to
the catalogue, in the form of "a", "b" and "undetermined", and at least a small
note should be added.

If this is how things are going, I'm going to stop adding images and the
like to the catalogue.

Regards,

Paul

I have seen your post and it probably merits at least a note.

Given that we right now have only one Cat-Min he might have overlooked this.
Since it was posted at "Catalog Identification" and not "Catalog Requests" I
find this plausible.

The Part ID is
