Every day it's getting worse and today Bricklink is just impossible to work
with.
Looking at the forum, not only Bricklink is asleep, but also it's members.

Wit every action I am staring at this circle moving around, staring at the message
'waiting ...'. 9 out of 10 my browser is showing the message that Bricklink
is not found and I can start all over again.

Anyone any ideas? Or better, is there someone out there of the technical department
who can do something about this?

- I removed all cookies, all history etc. 5 times
- I restarted my desktop 3 times
- I used Microsoft Edge and Chrome
- all other websites are working without ANY problems

It could be that the browsers are just cluttered or have become buggy. I'd
download and try Firefox to rule this out. In Chrome, you could go to settings
/ advanced and reset the browser (this should put it back to original without
add-ons etc). Firefox seems to work well for me and it is a fairly robust browser.
I do have to clear it out every now and then as it will get cluttered over time.
I don't think it is Bricklink but more if you use the site a lot it is just
getting cluttered with temp files. You could also download ccleaner and let
than clear out some of the temp files (it'll wipe out passwords and forms
you've set to remember).

That's what I thought and that is why I cleaned everything time after time.
There's nothing left to clean.

I don't think I would have to clean every 5 minutes.
And it really has something to do with Bricklink, for I use other site all day
and I don't have any problems there.

I am having problems with Bricklinks performance for ages now, but I don't
get any help from Bricklink support.

Hard to make a living this way.

I'l try Firefox later on, but if two browsers don't work??

I can see how frustrating that would be, definitely give Firefox a go as it will
go towards troubleshooting where the problem is and hopefully you get it sorted.

I also have no problems opening any part of BL etc.

I can open it on Google, Firefox & Safari.

Have you tried CCleaner or similar, it really does help.

It sounds like you have some programme running that may be conflicting with BL?

Same problem with Firefox

I also thought about a conflicting program, but I wouldn't know what program
this should be.
In the past I thought it was Norton, so I switched to Eset.
It looks like the only program that is working very hard (using a lot of memory)
is the browser I opened Bricklink on).
This morning a program called: 'Radeon Settings: Host Application' used
a lot of space. Tried to google about it, but I don't understand the use
of it. I just checked again and now it's not asking that much space anymore.

My last attempt will be CCleaner. Let's see if there is something left to
clean.

Sadly, BrickLink don’t answer because they don’t have any answer to give.

Anyway, as you have tested one end, and the other end, BL, “works” for everybody
else (at least better than for you), there are chances the problem is between
those ends.
So, what’s your network configuration? A particular ISP? A firewall?
Have you tested with your computer elsewhere (a friend’s home)?
Have you tested with your account on another computer? From a friend’s home?

When troubleshooting, you need to list all the protagonists (website, browser,
account, computer, ISP, modem-router…) and their parameters (cookies, cache,
add-ons for the browser, firewall for the computer…), order them by their likeliness
to be the cause, and change and test them one by one.

Are you sure it can be one of these things, when I ONLY have problems with Bricklink?
If it's my computer, my address, my network or whatever, shouldn't I
have problems with all online programs I use?

I’m sure of nothing, that’s why I propose you to test them.

Yes, BL certainly is a factor as other websites work for you but no one seems
to have the same level of problems you have with BrickLink, so there has to be
something between you and BL that slows down BL and only BL.

If you are sure there’s nothing between you and BL that causes the issues (and
you can only be confident after having tested everything you can), then you will
be able to blame BL for slowing down your connection (and only yours).

BL could help by looking into their logs for their interactions with you. Though
there might not be anything showing there they could at least make the effort
to answer you.

We need more elements to help you further.

You need to stop blindly and uselessly tinkering with your computer if your computer
isn’t the culprit. One simple way to know that is testing with another computer
on your home connection.
If it works with one computer but not the other, it’s the computer, and we’ll
then try to know what.
Otherwise, you need to know if it’s your home connection/configuration, so test
from a friend’s / trusted place.
If it works at your friend’s, then it’s your connection.

Testing, cleaning, reinstalling the same elements over and over is just magical
thinking, and all you’ll get from the forum is “it works for me, try the same
things you’ve tried ten times.”

I don't know where you get your internet connection at, but if possible try
somewhere else. Sounds like a traffic congestion between you and BL. Find someone
technically savy and ask them to assist you by running a traceroute. That should
help to pin down the problem.

Well, I'm afraid the only thing left is to get technical assistance.
CCleaner was ready in seconds. Didn't expect it otherwise.

The internet connection seems fine.

I'm not very technical myself, but I really don't understand that I am
ONLY having problems with Bricklink. Not with Facebook, Brickowl, Marktplaats,
Administration software, banking, etc etc etc. No problems at all, only with
Bricklink. THE site that I depend on to make my living

I started this morning at 4.00 (over ten hours ago).
So far I updated about 5 items, send one message and opened and replied to this
thread.
The rest of the time I wasted on cleaning, installing browsers and cleaningsoftware
and restart my desktop.

BL is responding just fine stateside. The community, signin and updating one
lot are all good. The issue you need to investigate is what route are your packets
taking to get from your internet access point to the BL server. The 'traceroute'
command will allow you to both see the route, and to diagnose where the slowdown
might be. If your packets are being routed via some terribly arcane path, your
ISP needs to become involved in determining why. Some of the other sites you
mention (e.g Facebook) will have connection points much closer to your ISP, due
to their enormous customer base.

If you really want to eliminate (or point a very accusing finger at) your own
computer, have a friend come over and see if their laptop/tablet/phone exhibits
the same slowness connecting to BL over your ISP connection.

So sorry you are having trouble. The speed of your connection is equal to the
"SLOWEST piece of equipment" on the route to the website you want to visit.

So that means if there is a connection that includes a 56kb dial up modem (very
very old technology) then from that point, your data that says you want to look
at BL, will run very very slow. (this is an over exaggerated story to make it
easier for some to understand). It can also be a broken or badly performing piece
of equipment that no one knows needs fixing.

That means the route your request to see FaceBook takes is different than the
route your request to see BL goes. It may not be your computer, but it could
be another piece of equipment somewhere along the route, and out of your control.
Your DNS settings can help if you change the IP numbers to something different.
Google: "google dns servers: and it will give you some numbers that are different
and that change may be a faster route to BL.

There is also a link to show you how to change them. This change is not for
novices, don't change anything you don't understand unless you are being
helped by someone who does.

Again, I am sorry it's so frustrating for you. As someone else said, you
are not alone. Trying to help long distance through a forum is difficult for
us.

Hi Donna,

Thank you for your time. Nice to see that there are people out there who want
to help me.
So, thank you all for doing that.

DNS settings, changing IP addresses…. is indeed to technical for me, so I need
some professional help on this. Hope it will be gone soon.

Problem is that once in a while it works fine, for an hour or less.
So I hope if someone comes, he can see the problem.
Not like finally going to the dentist and when you arrive the pain is gone

Thanks again all.

Kind regards,
Diana

Update Chrome to the latest version.
The version before was unstable.

Diana,

I have no problems whatsoever with BrickLink. Using Chrome btw.

There could be any numbers of bottlenecks between BrickLink and your PC.
I guess you have to rule out things. Try working on another PC, try at another
home, another city... maybe it is your WiFi or Network? But I doubt it is BrickLink.

Yes, I guess you need someone to assist you at your place...

Hi Arnoud,

  Diana,

I have no problems whatsoever with BrickLink. Using Chrome btw.

There could be any numbers of bottlenecks between BrickLink and your PC.

My neck also feels like a bottle Can't move it anymore.

I guess you have to rule out things. Try working on another PC, try at another
home, another city... maybe it is your WiFi or Network? But I doubt it is BrickLink.

Yes, I guess you need someone to assist you at your place…

I'm afraid so.
Voor vandaag zijn mijn piepers op.

Groetjes,
Diana

I had the same problem today. The loading of a page took approximately 1 minute.
This problem has nothing to do with your computer.

Now at this moment everything is just normal again.

It looks normal over here also now.
I didn't do anything else after my last message and I was having big problems
from 4AM til 4PM.

Could it be the provider? Do you use KPN?

Bricklink is so slow it is just impossible to upload anything or find anything.
Every click takes 20 seconds up to 1 minute to load. I am trying to create my
own shop but already more than 24 hours this website is incredibly slow. Any
updates when this will be fixed?

Yes I have KPN, it can be a provider problem.
They could check that when you call.

Bricklink has definitely had intermittent problems for me over the past few days
(even through various browsers)... unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be
any consistency to the problems to determine exactly what the issue is... I
just wanted to let you know, you're not alone.

Don't know if anyone suggested this but you can try changing your DNS server
