I'm not Randy, but mine only had 2.

Comments from Submitter:
I don't know why the request at http://www.bricklink.com/messageThread.asp?ID=169942 was approved. This set *only* contains 2 of each of the parts in question, and they are used on the Eris minifig as shown in the building instructions. I personally verified this inventory last year, and made many requests to ensure it was correct.

Randy,

The parts list has 4

Part No: 2555 Name: Tile, Modified 1 x 1 with Clip
*
2555 Tile, Modified 1 x 1 with Clip
Parts: Tile, Modified
is this a misprint by Lego or should there have
been 4

Part No: 11100 Name: Minifigure Wing Feathered
*
11100 Minifigure Wing Feathered
Parts: Minifigure, Body Wear
as well? I don't have the set and must go on the Parts List.

Except in this case there are not enough parts to make all of them into whole
minifigs.

Set No: 365 Name: Wild West Scene

365-1 (Inv) Wild West Scene
552 Parts, 8 Minifigures, 1975
Sets: LEGOLAND: Western: Cowboys

* Add 1 Minifig old051 Legoland Old Type - Red Torso, Blue Legs, Blue Cowboy Hat (Counterpart)

Comments from Submitter:
last of the counterparts.

These should all be listed as regular figs. Just because the figs are in a sitting
position in the instructions shouldn't separate them from the other figs.

Russell

except they are not shown assembled as figs. So per the rules, they are not regular.

These early minifigs are an exception to the rule. Take a look at other inventories
that have them and you will see what has been done over the years. The reason
this anomaly has remained is because Dan J himself added the counterparts and
no one has had the impetus to overwrite what he did.

And even though Dan was excellent at seeing the big picture with regards to inventory
policy, he was not the detailed, methodical inventory worker that we usually
see working on these older inventories. He set up the system and mass-uploaded
thousands of inventories, but he left it up to others to do the fine tuning.

When one studies how these minifigs are used in sets, in becomes apparent that
the instructions cannot be used as a reference in the same way as those for movable
figs. Early figs coudn't bend or hold things, so the legs are often removed
from the torso when the fig is active, e.g. sitting in a vehicle or pushing a
wheelbarrow. Sure, if we want to be pedantic about it we could force the normal
rules on these figs. But it isn't practical - using counterparts means that
figs (whole or in part) are listed in three different sections of the inventory
- regular, minifig, and counterpart. This confuses people, and frankly is unappealing
aesthically.

All Lego ITD accounts are required to have a Brick and Mortar store that has
been in business a certain number of years and sell more than just Lego.

In Suggestions, Ice writes:
  Hi,

I may be among the newly banned from S@H. Got a letter earlier this month, existing
orders were cancelled, but haven't ordered more since to confirm I can't
buy.

I want to suggest Bricklink a possible expansion, source for new revenues, and
protection of investment. Working with TLG to become a distributor, or provide
and oversee a distribution line to Bricklink sellers.

I don't believe Bricklink sellers are the resellers TLG is most concerned
with. I would like to see a S@H channel that has some/all the benefits of S@H,
but not the volume limitation on sets purchased. BL and TLG are supposed to be
cooperating, and it would serve both of them to sell to the sellers here.

Reselling concerns could be addressed, even monitored. I'm not familiar with
the Minecraft problem, but problem sets need not be included in the BL@H channel.
This may not work for set sellers, but alternative packaging could be made available,
using basic or generic packaging to help reduce costs, or existing packaging
that has been damaged to prevent resale(like a hot rod pressed through the labels
of records, or covers torn from books). TLG sells mostly sets, we sell parts
that don't compete with most of their core sales.

Bricklink could watch the stores that are involved in this channel, and handle
any store that sells in a way it shouldn't. Start out with purchase limitations
for stores until they have histories or existing inventories that would qualify
for larger purchases. Make sure the parts from sets sold to the stores through
BL@H show up in those store's inventories. Bricklink should get a cut of
any BL@H purchase, plus the normal commision when a store sells those parts.

TLG makes money, makes fans happy, and reduces liability exposure to unhappy
customers. Also, buyers are still able to get parts they need that TLG is not
going to supply. Most PaB parts are way too expensive compared to prices here.
Bricklink is a fan site with commercial practices, but those practices would
be impossible to duplicate profitably with our love for the brick. If I were
to hire someone to do what I do here, unless it is at a special reduced minimum
wage, no profit would be made.

I have to believe an idea like this has already been kicked around. I don't
know why it wouldn't have been explored, but banning sellers and fans from
making economic purchases could change how people feel, could change how TLG
is perceived. Bricklink has been a success, but business have to grow and change
to remain a success.

I would like to ask Bricklink to develop a product distribution channel with
The Lego Group for Bricklink sellers.

Probably confused by the fact that they are shown assembled on the fig on page
4 and then are removed when Eris is in the cockpit on page 24 and then stuck
on the jet on page 75.

Just wondering, why are they added as counterparts?

When parting a set, counterparts cannot be broken up automatically -- but
if they are regular minifigures then someone can simply select to keep them as
figures or to part them out. Otherwise if someone is parting them out, they have
to manually check the inventory for every figure and manually delete every single
part.

Andy

Because for example "Steve" there are parts for a complete one but extra's
for part of one. We can let the Invmins decide how they prefer.

Based on what we have found, there is one set currently showing the original

That is confirmed, one set that is "sold out", that still has the MSRP. Can anyone
confirm a "retired" set?

Darren

Sold out doesn't always mean retired. It might be sold out in one market,
but still available in other country. Lego might make another production run.

They aren't.

I just searched through hundreds of retired sets, and could not find one with

Thank you,

Maybe BL thinks that it still in... Possibly too recently retired.

There's one of the issues. How often would they check.?

This would be especially useful in matching up minifigures as often times I will
start by searching the torso but there are maybe 5-10 different minifigures with
that torso. Adding a head to the search might help narrow it down to 1-3 possibilities
and prevent me from having to check the inventory on the rest.

Dangerous. The same part in different colors has different weights. Close enough
for shipping purposes but for using a counting scale, a bad idea.

I've got a lot of projects I want to do, I've got them all tidily made
in LDD formats and I export the brick lists for BrickLink. I've yet to purchase
anything, though, because going through hundreds of different bricks (and, hundreds
of different stores/ brick) and trying to get all the separate things put into
carts that are separated by store is really frustrating.

I'm only just now really wanting to get into buying lego parts this way but
the way this website is, it is way too difficult to try to optimize separate
orders. I think what the first priority of the development of the site should
be is to streamline and modernize the ordering process.

A website similar to this is TCGplayer.com , but obviously, for cards. For a
demonstration of the functionality I think this site needs, check this url: http://tinyurl.com/l9tjkp9
(It is a page where I have already input a list of cards and the number of them
I wish to have).

If you do not wish to see this in action, I'll describe it.
After inputting the list of cards and clicking "Add to Cart", the store automatically
creates a cart that contains all the items listed (anything not in stock is left
out and the user is notified that those things were left out). Your cart is made
from various stores and all the price totals from each store are displayed.

This functionality alone would make this website so much more usable, but what
is really great about TCGplayer.com is the cart optimization. It allows you to
order your entire list from all the available stores, but selects the particular
stores that have the lowest price for the particular item you want (it also includes
shipping costs in calculations so that that is also optimized). You click the
optimization button and can then from each listed card select the allowed printings,
editions, and conditions for the entire list, and on an individual card basis.
That way, if you don't care what printing of a card is, you can allow any
one. This could translate to a person allowing any color of a particular brick,
or choosing a list of colors they would allow, as well as the conditions. Then,
when you apply the optimization, your cart is rebuilt with the same cards you
listed, but optimized with whatever specifications you allowed so that you have
the best price you can get from the combined available stores.

I've been looking hard for some sort of similar functionality, or even the
ability to keep track of all of my carts, but I haven't been able to. It's
really disheartening, as it shouldn't take me hours of digging through the
website and comparing prices so build a cart and make an order, and I really
love the idea of this website.

The answer is here.

make a cart...but if i can't find enough items or the right items i clear
the cart and move to the next store and try until i find the right store with

but I understand why you suggest it... if they do make it please allow a seller

thanks

I would not want e-mail notifications either. Just a simple screen visual icon
or simple message in the store settings page would suffice.

Miro

The problem is the cart is stored on the buyers machine. Bricklink and the seller
have no idea it exists. Try putting stuff into a cart, then go onto a different
computer. It won't see your cart. Go back to the first one and it's still
there.

Thanks for your insight, Brett.

However, it makes me think wether people are understanding what I would like.
I'm talking about a system that would be a feature, and tool, something extra.

In example, bulk quantities exist. I don't use them, nor like them, but some
sellers do, because it makes their life easier. And yes, it seems that they don't
care too much about wether a buyer wants 2 tiles or 10 to meet the bulk amount.

This is what that would be, an extra. Some seller would appreciate it and implement
it. Just to make it clear, I wouldn't.

The "bulky" system thing is maybe too far out, if this is just going to be a
tool implemented by some. However, I'd just give it out as a tool, and let
people decide wether they want it or not. Some big sellers I'm should
would like the feature and use it.

It's just an extra, an option, a feature, a choice, something seller's
would choose to use if they like, and not use it if it's too much hassle.
If you wouldn't use it, why would you vote "no" then, if you wouldn't
be required to use it?

Make them see that you are going out of your way to give them a valued experience
rather than "this is what you ordered, this is your cost, because you checked
out instantly"

BTW, great idea. I do like the idea of a welcome email and a basic explanation,
as no one reads the help page in the beginning, so just the basic points would
be good, and easy to implement.

I do like the idea in general, I just think it's hard to set up and maintain
world wide and putting it in the hands of individual sellers doesn't change
the differences, as you noted, but makes the issue faster.

As an FYI there are 20620 items in the catalog missing weights and 24513 missing
dimensions.

Everyone of this items would break the automated shipping feature.

Indeed, but also most of them are not the usual items you get in an order. Yes,
that would break automatic shipping, thanks for the point. Also, I'm not
talking about dimensions anymore, as that was a little unrealistic. Or a solution
for the future if they want instant checkout for every single order, which I
would hate to see.

Bret

Also "used complete" sets show up in the cart with the same weight as "new" sets.
Except used complete sets don't require the box or instructions. So clearly
not even close. You would have to change the way things are listed to include
check-boxes for these variables.

But it might be a feature of the new BrickLink site.

I have an old computer, I sometimes start an order, get interupted by the kids,
the wife or whatever, when I come back the computer has somehow lost it's
internet connection -

You can use the BrickStore program to save a shopping cart. Doesn't help
if you lose connection by surprise, but it does if you have a minute to plan.
Save your cart, then re-upload that as a Wanted List when you are ready to shop
again. Not quite automatic, but much much faster searching manually.

That Brickstore functionality broke awhile ago.

I would like to see a overall "store review" feature added.

You could contact the store using the "contact store" button or to add a note
to the favorite/least favorite stores.

  Something simple like;

Your store has a unique colored part that does not come in a set and/or
Your price is 1000% above the average price.

Can be a simple "hit the button" sort of thing.

But I believe that will help find any mistake in a person's inventory and can
be a simple database search function (match known sets with known parts).

It's already possible to report mislistings or to contact a store.

  Thank you ahead of time.

Now on "unreleased parts" - unless there is some evidence to support Lego selling
these to someone, then they must be stolen, I asked about this a while ago, the
answer was some places are rather "leaky", this would suggest being removed without
consent = stolen. No thanks!

The PAB walls at the Legoland Parks(which are not actually owned by Lego) periodically
have "unreleased parts" . Which would of course not be stolen.

For instance, I uploaded an XML wanted list (omitting the NOTIFY tag) - now I'd
like to change them all to NOT notify without having to select each item's checkbox

I could be missing a setting that dictates the default value for NOTIFY when

Turn it default on or of here http://www.bricklink.com/wantedSettingsAdd.asp
Or here http://www.bricklink.com/wantedSettings.asp

This only works if you are using http://www.bricklink.com/wantedAdd.asp

If upload using XML, those settings get skipped.

to think about too.

That's the reason any item would need a seperate selectable box for 'envelope'
or 'box'.
And in fact there should be a double entry for 'envelope': 'flatrate' (small
stickersheets for example) and 'thickrate' (depending on local regulations)

Except have enough of an item that's "envelope" and it can become "box".

That way, those people who actually care about "stickers - already applied" can

  Good morning

We have been using Bricklink for many years now and in December of last year
opened a store. As a result of that and all the work that has gone into that
we would like to make a few suggestions to help new and existing stores.

1. Make it easier to customize your stores pages. We are not programmers, but
we would like good marketing material on our store pages. Each time we create
something in Microsoft word and publish it to html, we get consistent errors
about use of Iframes, etc. We also get a constant barrage of item too large,
hence our rather non-marketing store pages.

Use HTML, problem solved

  2. When adding stock/inventory, we would also like the save settings to be in
place, whether we leave the site or not. We would like to see the storeroom option
re-worked so that when an existing part which has gone to zero is increased,
the item goes back into the store, without having to run an inventory update
to achieve this.

Why have parts in your store room, simply upload them into your store?

  3. It would also be nice if possible to have regionlised pricing. We appreciate
that Bricklink is 'worldwide' and many of ths stores accomodate that, however
having the ability to look at your regions pricing would be very useful.

I agree, LEGO in the US is far cheaper than here, yet this is not clear in the
price guide.
This makes for lower European prices and thus higher profits for US sellers

  4. The Bricklink fees charges.

I believe these are 3%, so it does not matter what currency you use

Due to the fact that this is in USD, converting
on an almost constant basis, it is very difficult to pin down an exact cost for
Bricklink per order. It would help if this were in the local currency that the
store sets as its own and/or if there were a statement produced at the end of
each billing period which showed order by order what the fee was in USD and the
local currency that the store uses. This would also be ideal for the stores accounting
records.

There probably are many other issues to comment on however I will leave this
as it is for the time being to see what the reaction is.

Thank you for your comments. Unfortunately using HTML is not an option for me
or my colleagues. We have used Word and published to html, but as usual Microsoft
have their own way of doing things which is making a mockery o9f basic html.

As for uploading directly to the store, that is what we have been trying to do
and each time we do it, we end up with some parts in the storeroom and others
straight into the store - very frustrating.

Glad to see there is a general view that regionlised pricing could be useful.
I hope Bricklink take that on board.

As for their fees yes you are right it is 3% of the order total shown in USD,
not in GBP. They then alter that based on the constantly changing currency conversion
so you end up with not knowing the exact Bricklink cost. Surely a simple statement
showing the order number, order value USD amount and the local currency amount
would be better.

I think this is a great idea and it wouldn't be to hard to implement since the
info already exits on BL.

My thoughts are...

What would be considered rare?

I would suggest go with a standard already used on rebrickable, which I believe
if a color of a certain part is found in 5 or less sets it is considered rare.

As far as non-production parts I would not include them. The reason is it would
be extremely easy to defraud a buyer, at least in my option. Unless BL is going
to verify and approve the part through the Catalog Add or Change system that
it is a actual non-production lego. Just simply listing the part as a color that
isn't already known should not add it to the rares.

How would a buyer find a rare part in a sellers store?

It would be automatic. After a seller uploaded a parted out set that had a rare
part in it under the "Show All Items" link in stores it would say "Show All Rare
Items".

[P=3068bpb33]
Occurs only in 1 set from 1988 . But not rare by any stretch of the imagination.

I like the idea. Often a store offers rare parts which are not on my wanted list.
But it is hard to find them. With this feature you can make a fast choice to
buy them for example to meet the minimum amount.

Yes, it woulg make more sales for stores that offer "rare" or "HTF" parts, without
them having to say "Rare" or "HTF" in the description. Also, it would filter
oy non rare, but marked as such in the comments

-R

What about an option to filter for non-production parts, the rarest of all parts.
That seems easy enough: a filter that shows all parts which are listed as colors
that do not appear as their known colors. That would become tricky when parts
are make in new colors like the series 6 accessories, but would be sorted out
once added to the catalog.

Chris

Why are non-production parts "the rarest of all parts" ? There are non-production
parts that are far more common then some released in sets.
